I sprayed it with hairspray and then tossed some glitter on it, Abi loved it, she insisted that it go in the baby book. She also has a cool little fairy that has a little dish with a lid, her teeth go in there and the tooth fairy takes them and leaves some pixie dust. ~Mandy

Is the tooth fairy going to finance the payout tonight? I know the fairy here pays in a new toothbrush a few bucks and new sparkly toothpaste. She also leaves a fun note. I have the note if you want it....~Mandy

Try low fat or fat free sour cream. I don't eat tuna but this is how I make my chicken salad and it's good. ~Mandy

My primary care doctor didn't stand behind my decision, she actually told e if I had the surgery she would drop me as a patient. Well I dropped her as a doctor and see a wonderful supportive doctor that knows about weightloss surgery and was happy to have me as a patient. ~Mandy

This is how it was explained to me. The band is like a belt around the stomach. As we lose weight our regular belt needs to be tighter to keep our pants up. The same with the lapband, as you lose weight, the stomach shrinks and the band needs to be tighter to maintain restriction. ~Mandy

My friend has MRSLA, it's supposed to be Mrs. LA but the state of IL stopped allowing spaces on their personal plates so it was all smashed together. We call her Mursla, it makes her sooo mad, but it's funny. ~Mandy

What do you acually eat?
piercedqt78 replied to ShineOn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For breakfast I have a low sugar oatmeal or cream of wheat. I have plenty of decaf iced tea all day, (I know it should be water) I have a light snack mid morning(yogurt or a protein shake), and usually lunch meat and a slice of cheese for lunch sometimes a wheat thin or two. Dinner is a serving of meat (3oz, the size of a deck of cards) and some veggies. I usually have a cup of hot tea before bed, sometimes I split a 100 calorie bag of popcorn with my daughter. If we go out to eat, I have the smallest most tender steak on the menu, and eat half and take the other half home for lunch the next day. I also do very well with shrimp, fish, and chicken. I don't eat pork, pasta, rice or real bread. I do eat crackers, and I do eat breaded shrimp. ~Mandy -

Just be careful not to move too much post-op. There will be limitations on exercise. It really is a time for healing, eat right and most likely you will lose some weight, but I was told nothing more than walking for 6 weeks post-op. ~Mandy -
How is that for everyone? ~Mandy

Anywhere is fine with me.....is there a cracker barrel around there? ~Mandy

A little V-Day fun, Pet Names!

My husband and I call each other Billy, it was a joke from long ago and it has just stuck. We have even gone as far as calling our daughter little billy. We also have a cat named billy....he was adopted and that was already his name, it was just meant to be. The story goes like this. My niece (3 at the time) was in love with a neighbor boy, named billy, he was a real tough boy, always climbing and getting hurt. She would stand at the fence and say "tarefull billy" when he would do anything dangerous. One day my future hubby was leaving my house on his motocycle, and I called out the window "tarefull billy" and it stuck. When I was in labor, my dh was calling me billy and the nurses looked at us like we were crazy. It's also funny to see the 3 of us in Disney, all calling each other Billy, which my daughter calls us instead of mom and dad. funny huh? ~Mandy -
Mine is called Pandora, I never know when she is going to let me eat or not....like pandora's box, it's a surprise everytime. ~Mandy

Call and ask the doc. My glue was gone in 10 days. I was told when the glue was all gone, I could swim, take a bath, and sit in a hot tub. ~Mandy -
Not too soon to feel confident at all. I came here knowing this was right for me. I joined in feb and was banded the following july after a huge ins battle. Good luck to you, and welcome to lbt. ~Mandy

There are several women that have become pregnant shortly after being banded. The body stores hormones in fat and as you lose weight, the hormones are released into the body. Also many women swear that the atkins diet, helped them with polycystic ovarian syndrome. I know that's how my little one came to be. Being that this is a high protein and low carb, it's kinda the same. I know I was warned that pregnancy was much more likely by my gyno and my band doc, I have been on Depo for 5 years and am now looking to have my tubes tied, or a possible hysto in the next 6 months. (long ongoing problems) I am coming off depo and have been VERY careful.. ~Mandy

There have been several actual bands on ebay. Inamed, had the company remove them, but they have relisted several times. They are expired bands, but being sold as sterile, and new in sealed boxes. Scary huh? do a search here there were several threads about it. ~Mandy

Four days until surgery no period, but four negative preggo test
piercedqt78 replied to ari's topic in The Gals' Room
Sounds like it's lack of nutrition. When I did atkins, I missed periods all the time. I was told it was the diet. ~Mandy -
My hubby and I both have a sitcker on both of our cars, that says "They use us and abuse us" with all the railroad logos on it. My hubby is a railroader and they are working them to death without a current union contract. He also has several overtime claims that are due to him for over 6 months that we are still waiting to recieve. Once they get a contract signed the stickers will come off. I also have an I heart my Bostons sticker (decal) in my back window. ~Mandy

That's how it started with my ex, instead of not talking to me he would go to the bars (I was under 21 and he was 23) and stay out until 3 or 4 in the morning. Then tell me it was my fault he didn't want to be/stay home. I invested a huge amount of money in opening a business that was his dream, after 2 years, he decided I was not supporting his dream enough and closed the business (refused to sell it, or contuine to work there until I could sell it). I lost $25,000 but learned a very strong lesson. I had to love myself enough to not take the mental/emotional abuse anymore. I am sorry that things are not smooth for you right now. I hope you are able to make some kind of resolution and find peace in your life. ~Mandy

Chrispy, some of the sweetest guys I know have tattoos....my hubby included. I'm glad that you were able to talk to him about it and he was open to it. Hope things go well with him, remember the band is new to his mind, he might have tons of questions. That means he really wants to know more, not that he has doubts. My hubby still asks questions about my band, and just got the watch a fill for the first time ever. It's a learning process for those that don't have a band. ~Mandy

I'm going to wam up at Betty's it's 0 here with a windchill of -16. Anyone wanna come to my house and play in the never melting snow? They are bringing in Semi's to haul out some of the snow. It's half way up the sides of my house, and not melting. I'm told that means I have great insulation, but it's still tooooo much snow for me. Cindy, how many boxes of cookies have you sold? I haven't seen a single girlscout selling cookies, maybe God is looking out for me? I have a weakness for those little cookies. Hubby knows this and when they sold them at his work he did the troops to troops deal and sent 5 boxes. I am proud of him for being so thoughtful of the troops and also of me. It's meatloaf for dinner tonight, and the beef and barley soup tomorrow night. I'm sticking with easy meals for a few more days, until I feel better. I'll check in later. ~Mandy

I was told that calories and fat should come from food, solid food, not shakes. If you get calories from shakes and work out, you will still eat a meal and then that does not get burned in the workout. I have shakes when I can't get breakfast down, I am very restricted in the am. The only other time I do shakes is when I am not able to get a good meal or if I am low on protein for the day. ~Mandy

It's cold here too, we went to Texas RaodHouse for dinner and I ate waaayyy to much. I had the catfish and it was really good. I had 2 rattlesnake bite things, (cheese, with hot peppers) and a very small cup of chili, I ate 4 or 5 bites of my sweet potato and then had almost an entire piece of fish. I knew the fish would be tempting so I left it for my dad to have for lunch tomorrow. If not I would have eaten it for a late snack and then again for breakfast. (it was fried) He loves fish, and they kept Abi for us to go out, so I gave him my leftovers, he says it great when I order fish or chicken (we have the same taste in foods) cuz he gets me leftovers. He loves my band. I am still feeling pretty crapola, I am going to take some nyquil and go to bed as soon as Abi goes to bed, 25 more mins. I am planning to sit around the house all day tomorrow, and rest. I did some cleaning today, but there is always more to do. I managed to vaccum, and dust, and run the dishwasher. There is a load of laundry in washing now, and several more waiting to be washed. I swear I will die with a stack of laundry waiting for me. The only thing I am doing tomorrow is picking up my total gym. Anyone have one? I figure if I don't use it, I can sell it and get my money back out of it. I will try to check in tomorrow. ~Mandy
