My Driver's License is now correct!
piercedqt78 replied to Brewa2000's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I remember when my weight finally matched my license. I also posted it as a huge NSV as I had lied about my weight to begin with. I recently moved and had to update my address so again I lied and listed my goal weight. So once again I am trying to match my license weight. LOL. ~Mandy -
They have a $200 package, but without the armband thingy. Looks like www.fitday.com isn't so bad afterall. (it's a calorie counter for free) ~Mandy

I pulled a muscle/tendon in my neck/shoulder from coughing and the doc recommended heat 15-20 mins at a time several times during the day and icy hot at night. I am also on muscle relaxers for the next few days. My neck is really hurting, I just realized I have missed several chances to apply heat today. I'm feeling it now, so I can sympathize. Hope you feel better. ~Mandy

I got 11 right, it says only 3 people have scored a perfect score, there seems to be something off about that test...LOL ~Mandy

Here is a nice low carb treat. I make these for my 5 year old nd she loves them lunch meat sliced thick (ham or turkey work best) fat free cream cheese I also like the creamy dill spread my mom uses ricotta a dill pickle spear make a thin layer of cream cheese on the lunch meat, then wrap around the pickle, slice into pinwheels. They taste good, are low carb, low fat and really filling. They also keep for 2 or 3 days in the fridge. I do the same thing with roast beef slices and goat cheese, then put them under the broiler for a quick second to brown the cheese. yum!

I don't think a protein bar and wrap from McDonalds would be a mushie. I was allowed mashed potatos, ground beef and stuff like that during mushies. Not pieces of chicken, tortillas or any type of bar. I did guacamole and chunky soups during mushies. For the ticker, cut and paste the vbulliten code then add it to your signature in the user CP area top left of the lapbandtalk page. ~Mandy

I am allowed to take pills as long as they are smaller than an M&M.(i break tylenol in half as it is longer than an M&M) I am taking a muscle relaxer right now for a pulled tendon/muscle and they go down fine. Be aware that fosamax and boniva can both cause ulcers, and I was told should be avoided. I have ostteopenia and will eventually have to be one some type of meds, I will do the Boniva injectable. I have already talked to my doctor and bnd doc about my options. ~Mandy

I had a huge post all typed and ready to post and I hit the spell check button, it prompted me for an update and I lost it all. ARGH!!! I am too tired and sick to retype it all. Here is the rundown of it all. Cindy how long until you find out the new job. Dianne, sorry about Bambi, it's always hard to lose a family pet. I'm sure that your FIL takes comfort that Bambi is running and playing like a puppy again, cancer and pain free. Pat, Patty, Cass, come back to play again soon k? Kat, I finally got the card you sent, it was in a neighbors mail, she's been gone for 3 weeks and she just got home and brought it to me last night. It still works as a get well card for my death flu. I am starting to feel better, so the doc agreed to let me stick it out at home for a few more days. But I have to rest, and take my meds like a good girl. I am trying to follow orders, really I am. I am going to rest today. DH made Soup last night, it was minestrone and he added ground beef, it was one of those soup mix in a bag deals, from wylers/Mrs grass. I have some of that left over so that will be lunch today. I have a chicken fajita kit for dinner, easy and healthy. I'll be back later. ~Mandy

Just remember that each day will get better. Keep walking, even if you are hunched over, it will help get the anestsia out of your system. Drink plenty of fluids and try to get good rest at night. Don't be affraid to take the pain meds you were given. It is better to control the pain then to have to try and stop it once it gets bad. I took half doses of pain meds during the day and a full dose at night. I only needed pain meds for 2 days, and about 4 or 5 nights. It really will get easier, and you are on your way to a new, thin you. ~Mandy

Another Mandy from Chicago here, I was banded by Dr Horgan and Dr Galvani was the assistant. I now see Dr. Lahmann in Joliet, at Silver Cross. We have a Chicago group and are trying to meet for lunch once a month or so. There is a thread in the Illinois forum titled Chicago Friends, come check us out. There are loads of us from the Chicagoland area, come and join us. ~Mandy -

Drinking Too Much Post Op?
piercedqt78 replied to MCOBandita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My fave clear liquid was egg drop soup with no eggs in it. It was warm, and thick and it really filled me up. ~Mandy -
no problem, good luck on your journey. ~Mandy

I am almost 19 months post-op, if you count me as a long term bandster here is my take on it all. I still think about being banded when eating out or at other peoples homes. I can eat mostly like I did before. I can't eat rice, pasta or bread but I can eat all kinds of meat, veggies, and most fruits. I eat small heathy meals, when I am hungry, if not I have something to drink and enjoy the company. So, yes I think about my band, and what I am eating, but it's not an obsessive thing. I try to make smart choices, and go from there. I didn't lose 100 pounds in a year, but I am almost at goal and love my band. ~Mandy

I have been banded 18 almost 19 months and eat spicy foods all the time. I have had a few drinks, but have never been a heavy drinker. Not sure where this patient co got the info but it sounds like they are not very well informed, that would scare me away from that practice. ~Mandy

I can eat steak, slowly as long as it's tender. I was able to eat anything I wanted until my second fill. Restriction changes things. ~Mandy

I ran to the store, and spent $100....yikes. But I got snuggles for $1.05 a bottle, I bought 10 bottles, I'm gonna smell good and have the softest clothes in the neighborhood. I am going to get my munchkin off the bus and then come back and take a muscle relaxer and get some sleep. I have chicken in maranading (sp?) in lime chipolte sauce. My DH said he would bake it when he gets home. I am going to rest as much as possible today and tomorrow, I really want to stay home and not have to go to the hospital. I'll check back later ~Mandy

I am ok with tortilla chips, and hard taco shells. I usually order a single hard shell taco, break it open and eat it like nachos. Or I order a very small nacho if they have it. ~Mandy

Dianne, I was typing when your message came through. I am soooo sorry for everyting you are going through. We are here for you, you can call Kat, or me, I will also PM you my real email and phone. I know this is hard, we went through a similar stress level right after Abi was born, it's just overwhelming. I hope everyone at your house starts to feel better soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers. (((hugs)))~Mandy

I'm alive again today. Still sick but I didn't cough myself to death last night. I think the phenegran with codine helped. I start the muscle relaxers today, it was going to be 4 hours before they would be ready so I said I'll be back in the am. I couldn't stand around for 4 hours and I wasn't going to go back out last night. I will get it today when I take Abi to the bus. I also need bread and some milk. I'm up, showered and dressed but still not really eady to face the day. I'll check in later. ~Mandy

I'll bet she's freezing her little wings off right now. ~Mandy

Praise the Lord and pass the ketchup, I too got a PM back from Pat, she is well. I sure do miss her. She said she would be back here soon, we can call off the Monkeys now. I just got back from the doc, I have until wed to get better. My CBC came back better today then last week so it looks like I am on the mend. I have pulled the tendons in my neck from all the coughing, so I am on muscle relaxers for the next 10 days, that and a heating pad. I will check in later. gotta run and make dinner. ~Mandy

Cindy, sounds like a perfect job for you. Since you are already doing some of the work anyway, and it would give you a chance to be more involved in dd school. I know I love being at Abi's school a few days each week even when I am not in her classroom. As for the meds so far they are not working, I am actually feeling worse today then I did wed when I saw the doc. I am going to call in am and see what he wants to do. The only problem is he is on staff at a hospital that is far away from my house. I am going to see if I can get my GP to coordinate with my band surgeon so I can go to the hospital that he is on staff with, it's close to my mom and sister's houses, and they will be taking care of Abi. Also it is closer to my house and in a much better neighborhood. Don't get me wrong both are excellent hospitals, but I prefer one I am familiar with. I will check in tomorrow and let everyone know what's going on. Night all, Mandy
