She posted in this thread, the picture of the dogs are hers. Maybe you can get in touch with her by sending her a message on that user name? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/save-your-pets-t27320.html?t=27320&highlight=breakaway+collar

She had several other usernames, they were not suspended. I will look and see if I can find them. ~Mandy

Hi all, I think I am starting to feel like myself again. But it's been so long I forget what I am supposed to feel like LOL! I am supposed to meet some bandsters but don't have a sitter. I am searching for someone to keep her, she will not sit for lunch I can't imagine wanting to sit and talk after. That would be trouble. I'll be back later. ~Mandy

If you barfed and the band slipped they should be able to see that on flouro. I would seek another opinion with fluro. ~Mandy

Do you miss eating like you used to?

I do ok with a med well steak if I ask for it butterflied. I usually order rib-eye, they seem to be the most tender, unless they have filet. ~Mandy -

I know you had her thyoid checked but did they do the full panel? Most doctors do thyroid level not a panel it's a T3 panel that she needs. Sometimes this shows more than the standard panel. Also try to bump up the water intake, and lower salt. I know that if I increase my salt intake I gain a few pounds within a few days. Last, give her a big hug and tell her you are proud of her, she is going to school, doing the band thing and is a great daughter. All three things can be hard sometimes, for her and for you. I know you are beinf supportive, when we talked one on one you seemed like such a great person/mom. Hang in there, I'm sure the two of you will get to the bottom of this. ~Mandy -
I peel peaches. Blanch them, drop them in boiling water for a few seconds then into ice water, the peels will wipe off if you "dry" them with a paper towel. I slice nectarines and then peel the slices as I eat them. I love peaches, and eat them all summer. I grew up in the south and my grandparents had several peach trees in the back yard, so they are a staple for me. ~Mandy

I can't so sushi anymore (can't do the rice) I've switched to sashimi. Or I order sushi rolls no rice. (nori, fillings, and I use wasabi and pickled ginger) I love spring rolls and shrimp wrapped in nori. I also order sashimi, and just try 2 or 3 kinds. I miss the sushi but my band and being thin is better than rice. :girl_hug: ~Mandy

We had a birthday party today, it was a dress-up party. The girls were asked to wear a bathing suit or leotard. Abi didn't want to go, she didn't want the girls to see her rash on her skin. (it's really bad ezcema) There is nothing we can do for it, none of the medications have helped. She decided today that she wanted to stay home, she was affraid of being embarassed. I told her we would make it work. I got out the box of her summer clothes and found a pair of bike shorts and a fitted tank top, we lied and told them she had sensitive skin and that detergents and fabic softners make her break out. She was able to go and had a great time. While she was at the party I went and visited with my mom, we had a great long talk. They are getting ready to go on a cruise and she is really excited. I also stopped at a resale shop and bought 2 t-shirts and a pair of cute jeans. All for $8. While I was gone hubby and his friend installed my built-in microwave, it looks great!!! I did not pick out a fridge yesterday. I looked but didn't find anything. I'm still open to information, pros and cons of a side by side. My sister says she hates hers because she can't put big items in the freezer. I have a chest freezer in the garage so that's not a problem. Any other thoughts? I also bought this beutiful pumpkin colored paint, I am going to paint the kitchen with it, and do a back splash of teal, ocean blue and yellow. (think gulf of Mexico, tropical aztec) I am in search of tile for the backsplash next. Gotta run, I'll check in later. ~Mandy P.S. how is your mom today Kat?

Try creamed corn, I can eat that very easy and it taste really close to regular corn. ~Mandy

I would suggest dark meat, it is more moist and seems to chew easier. The white meat gives lots of people problems, something to be aware of. I know I can eat 2 drumsticks no problem, but 2 bites of breast and I am PB'ing. The legs and thighs are the safest options in my opinion. Enjoy the BBQ. Also order some extra sauce, it helps to lube the food. ~Mandy

The kids are beautiful, was that a wedding or did someone make confirmation? You have a beautiful family, you are really blessed. ~Mandy

We cut the cake to the song Dragula by Rob Zombie, a fave of both of ours. ~Mandy

Judy, have you worked with Kelly? She is sooooo sweet and supportive. If you have not had the pleasure of working with her, you are in for a treat. She will be open, honest and upfront with you. I recommend them to anyone that asks. The fact that they refused to take my money and told me that they could not help me, really gave me faith in them. Actually it restored my faith in my fellow human being. I was at the point of believing that all people wanted to do was better their own life and couldn't care less about mine, Walter and Kelly not only refused my money, but genuinely wished me the best and ask me to let them know if I was ever managed to get approved. ~Mandy

I'm wondering if your band is properly placed. How experienced is the surgeon that placed it? Of course he is going to say it's in a perfect position if he was the one that put it in. I would ask another band soc to do an barium swallow and see if they agree that it is in the correct place. Also what band do you have? Maybe you needed the larger band and a smaller one was put in? Possibly to small to begin with? ~Mandy

You look fantastic. Congrats on the great success. Who are the very lovely kids? ~Mandy

Maybe the surgeon pays for Lindstroms services? I know some surgeons work with the lawyers enough that they get a really reduced rate to send their patients there. I know that Walter does not work for free, he is the one I talked to and his charges are listed on his website. ~Mandy

If your insurance denies the band but approves another form of weightloss surgery there is a packet from Inamed that helps with that kind of appeal. There is also a packet that helps when it is deemed experimental. ~Mandy

I always ask to see the meds before I have them filled. My pharmacy is aware of my size limitations. I ask for liquids when available. Both the doctor and pharmacy work with me when they can. ~Mandy

I was so laid back about my wedding, that my hubby and I went the night before the wedding and got manicures at the local nail school. It was funny, the caterer was fussing over the table settings and I was sneaking a bite of fried chicken with the wonderful gravy that they provided for the mashed potatos. My only request was that we had extra butter in the potatos and plenty of gravy. I guess I will never lose my southern roots..... I also made sure that the preacher had enough to eat. I was more concerned with him getting a plateful than cutting the cake. I don't get the bridezilla attitude. My cousin spent over $40K on her wedding and the food sucked, the DJ didn't have most of what was requested and the hall was in a so/so neighborhood. 2 weeks before the wedding she called me crying, her hair was falling out from the stress. She finally did relax half way through the reception, tok off her shoes and danced in her house slippers that she had packed in the car. I actually felt sorry for her, she spent so much time planning and so much money for that wedding and it was average at best. The $40K didn't include time off work without pay and all the time, energy and gas she used going to the places to make all the arrangements. My wedding was planned in an afternoon, we made our own ivitations on nice card stock, I made my own flowers out of silk and I still have most of them. A local baker did the cake out of her home (she did my baby shower cake, our little one's b-day cakes, and all of our holiday cakes) I got my dress at JC Penny, Hubby got a new suit at one of those mega suit places for like $150 (he wears it still). Our DJ was a stack of CD's that I made of various songs that I knew would go over well, then everyone took home a copy of those CD's as our wedding favor. A friends dad is a minister and he did the service, we are of different faiths, the minister is a different faith than either of us. We were married in a bowling alley, our reception was candle light bowl. It was the greatest time, eveyone still talks about it and it was over 7 years ago. ~Mandy

We know a couple that has added a few years to the anniversary years. They were married with the kids were 2 and 3, in a private civil ceremony in Las Vagas. Not a big to-do. Now the kids are 12 and 13 and the parents celebrated their "15" anniversary last year. They even lied to the grooms parents as they live across the country and told them they were already married when the first was born. We all make the joke that if they added 5 years to the marriage they also added 5 years to their ages. The wife dosen't find that funny at all. It's a shame that the kids will discover it one day, and probably resent them for it. ~Mandy

I got realllllly stuck on a comtrex cold tablet. It was a fatter tylenol sized pill. It to hours for it to dissolve. I called my surgeon and he said that if it wasn't gone by a certain time to call him back and he would meet me at the ER for an unfill. It did dissolve with lots of hot tea that was when he told me nothing bigger than an M&M he didn't do my surgery or I would have been told that pre-op. ~Mandy

Kat, I would have asked for at least some of my time to be compensated. It was a different ball game when you were dealing with a mediator. If he had setteled then no biggie, but you had to make another day at the courthouse. I would have stuck it to him for being an a** but that's just me. Glad that your mom will have a few years before a knee replacement is needed. I need one, or I did, I was told when I lost the weight I could have a replacement, I was too heavy for it before. (the doc said I would burn through it in 10 years at my previous weight) Now that I have lost the weight I don't have as many problems as I did before. I have hyalgan injections every year at the beginning of the summer. It's 5 injections, a week apart and they work wonders. It's a thick viscous liquid that helps to cushion and lubricate the joint. I hurt myself 7 years ago next month and my knee has never been the same. I had a miniscus repair, part of my synvisc removed and the latteral muscles released. It was a tough surgery, and I never fully recovered. I have had soooo many problems with it, but the weightloss has helped me so much, I can't believe it. My knee was the final straw that got me approved for my band. It was the size of a very large cantelope the day of my band consult, the band doctor actually took pictures of it and submitted them with my paperwork. When the insurance nurse was reviewing my case she called and ask if my knee had recovered from being dislocated, I was puzzeled and ask what she was talking about. She explained that she had the pictures of my knee injury and I explained that it looked like that most of the time. She felt sorry for me, but still denied my surgery. I finally won the case, and they said the joint pain was the only co-morbid they took from my case. Cholestrol of 325, and joint pain is what they consider....LOL. Oh well. The weight was a major issue and the fact that surgery was covered by workers comp and a knee replacement wasn't an option, so I had to have majo repair work done. I'm glad I didn't do it then, have you seen the new replacements that are made for women? They are sized and shaped more for a womans body. Oh well, I am tired and headed to bed Night all....~Mandy
