    Bloosom Anniversary

Blossom died while working on building her dream home. I believe it was an accident involving a tractor. Not band related at all. She is dearly missed. ~Mandy

    Nj March Chat

Hi all, I am fridge shopping today. In our last place I had the fridge on top del and it was really nice. I don't need the water/ice in the door. I have a nice Water cooler by brita that filters tap water and then dispenses it hot or cold. We rarely use ice, and our water isn't that good anyway. I buy ice for parties and such but my family will use maybe a tray of ice in a week. I drink hot tea or brewed tea that is in the fridge. If it's too cold it kills mt band, and hubby is too lazy to get ice out. Abi drinks milk or juice or water from the dispenser. I'll look into those since I had forgot that was an option. I am getting stuffed up again, I think I'm ready to give up at this point. Abi has an appointment with the psych today, they are talking about hospitalizing her for a few days for observation and testing. My DH is freaking out, but if that's what she needs then that is what we have to do. We spent the weekend changing clothes because she decided to wet her pants 6 and 7 times both days. She is so stubborn when she wants to be. She has also been very angry and teetering on violent. She is kicking things, but the doc says people will be next. So we are in for an emergency appointment this afternoon. I will check in and let you know how it goes. Don't forget prayers for Dianne, she should be done by now it's almost noon. ~Mandy

    Tylenol?

There is also a lidoderm patch, it is a pain patch that is non narcotic. I use them when my knee gets really bad. Something to think about. ~Mandy
  4. Glad I could help. When you want to update it just do the same, but remove the current signature before pasting the new one. ~Mandy

    Tylenol?

When I had surgery in Jan I was given liquid loritab (vicodin). Most pain meds come in liquid form or you can break/crush them. ~Mandy

    BBQ Chicken Pizza-(no bread)-but tasty

I take the canned chicken and add some lowfat ranch dressing and mix well. I have this on crackers. Or I mix some very finely chopped celery, light mayo, and a very small amount of bread crumbs (for texture). It's better if you let it sit in the fridge for an hour or so. ~Mandy

    Enema Question

Someone on here, I can't remember who swears an enema after surgery will help with the gas and cramping. The gas I had was in my shoulder not my bowels so I don't think this would have helped me. I lived on gas-x and walked as much as I could. It was only a few days of discomfort. ~Mandy

Would like to get lapband removed

Some insurances will cover removal if it is an emergency. Others will not. It depends on the way the coverage is written. I am looking into skin reduction and I may have to self pay, if so any complications are my responsibility. If there is no coverage for the proceedure then there is no coverage for aftercare/complications. You need to contact a band surgeon and they will contact the insurance company, possibly before your appointment to verify coverage. Are you considering another form of WLS? Best of luck to you. ~Mandy

    Lap-bands in the family!

My aunt is getting one this summer. My mom was not very supportive of mine but has been great about my aunt. She says I will be great support for her. I told her I would be great support because I have had to overcome her being so judgemental. ~Mandy

    Tylenol?

Tylenol also makes a great cold medicine in a liquid. I have problems with pills and take liquids whenever possible. I know that Meijer makes a generic liquid acetaminophen, and I think walgreens does too. ~Mandy

    Tylenol?

no problem. If you have a problem with taking tylenol it also comes in adult strenght in liquid form. ~Mandy
  16. Click on anyones ticker, it will take you to the ticker site. Build the ticker of your choice and it will give you several codes. Choose the one for v.buliten. Copy and paste that code into your signature. (in the user CP, top left of the page). If you need more help than that let me know. ~Mandy
  17. The member that I was trying to think of is Road Queen, she moved to africa last year. ~Mandy
  18. Sounds like reflux to me too. Try proping up your head at night. Also some say sleeping on your side makes it better. There are over the counter meds for acid reduction. Nothing to eat for 2-3 hours before bed, also try drinking 8-10 oz of water to flush out the pouch. Some of us swear by aloe, it works wonders on an irritated esophagus. ~Mandy

    Tylenol?

yes, it's fine. That is what Tylenol is, Acetaminophen. Banded people need to avoid NSAID classes of drugs. (non-steroid anti-inflamatory drugs) Like aleve and mortin, they have been known to cause ulcers. ~Mandy

    McDonalds

Actually popeyes naked tenders are fried. They are seasoned and then dropped in the hot oil. The popeyes in my area has an open kitchen and that is how they are prepared. But they are good. ~Mandy

Olive Garden Pasta e Fagioli Soup

I don't do pasta but can have this soup. I don't do lettuce, there are no nutrients and it fills me up to quickly. ~Mandy

Did DIsney comp the cruise for you? They should have. Or should offer you another cruise so you can have your big day. ~Mandy
  23. Welcome back, and congrats on the band. We had another member here in Africa, she was banded in the states. If you search the word Africa I am sure you will find her. To answer your questions, yes the loss of appetite is normal. With some people that returns, others it never really does. It is mostly swelling right now, as the swelling goes away the hunger may return. I am 19 months post-op and still forget to eat sometimes all day. I think I have been really hunger only a handful of times since banding. Make sure you get in plenty of liquids, you MUST stay hydrated to stay healthy. ~Mandy

    McDonalds

I can't eat in the am, and eggs are never ok for me. I however love Wendy's chili, it is high in protein and fiber also low fat. I get a chili, add cheese and onions (they do this for like a quarter) I also love the grilled chicken from wendy's (I order just the chicken, no bun no sauce) Another great place is Taco Bell, refried beans, and a steak taco, I eat just the middle. ~Mandy
