Amelia, I would ask if you can call and check in while you are on vacation. Maybe give the office permission to give results to a family member as soon as they are available. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Please make sure you have access to medical attention if needed while you are gone. We are here if you need to talk or need anything. Don't hesitate to ask. ~Mandy

Beanie, I agree with Kat sounds like a fluids problem. Try this, make some concentrate juice with pedialite or make kool aid with it and freeze it, makes yummy popsicles. I'm off to bed. So sleepy, must put head on pillow.....~Mandy

I have major brain damge lately, the meeting is tomorrow, but I did get to read a magazine that has been in my car for over a month. I got there an hour before Abi was finished with school and discovered after pulling into the parking lot that the meeting is tomorrow. So I rolled down the windows, turned off the car and enjoyed the breeze and my family fun magazine. (it's owned by Disney and packed with cool ideas). Abi had a long day at school today, but she seemed to enjoy the new students and the teacher said she was polite and nice to everyone today. They are starting to see some of the emotional sides that we see, also they are seeing her being manipulative. I like the program and they also have a full time school that I think would be great for her. I am looking into that tomorrow. I have the name of an attourney if I need him. I know our school district will fight me (they have to pay for this place) but I also think she needs the help. Today was day 4 of at least 10 and she is already making progress. We managed to get dressed this morning without a battle and that's a first. Kat, are you ok? How is DH tonight? I'm here if you need me. I'll PM my number to you. That goes for everyone here, if you ever need me let me know. I have free long distance and I am willing to call and talk/listen as long as needed. Cindy, I didn't change the ticker, it died. I removed it and will replace it tonight. I am still bouncing between 159 and 163. Once I fit into anything from the Jr department, I shopped there all the time. I also found a place called platos closet that is a trendy resale shop and I get loads of stuff there. It is a huge franchise, might be worth looking into there might be one near you. I have 3 in my area, one only buys size 9 and smaller but the others both have plus size areas, they carry loads of jeans but also have some dress clothes. I'll be back before bed time to check in. ~Mandy

Will i ever be able to eat these things again?
piercedqt78 replied to hotpink_bubbles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had meatloaf 10 days post-op with my doctors blessing and it was devine...I also had mashed potatos and gravy. (exactly half of a kids meal from Boston Market) I eat egg, tuna and chicken salad all the time, on wheat crackers. I didn't get this band to have to count carbs but I do watch my calorie intake somewhat. I have had potato salad, a small scoop won't kill you just don't make a meal out of it and don't have it everyday. I can't have Pasta unless it is angel hair or cut very very small and then only a few bites. My favorite thing at taco bell is that bowl thing they make, it's Beans, (I omit the rice it gives me problems, i usually ask for double beans) meat(chicen or steak), tomotos, cheese and taco sauce. I also omit the lettuce. It is a good meal or 2 Snacks, and it reheats well. Comes in a little bowl with a lid so it's also easy to store. I can eat almost anything I want, but avoid bread as it fills me up with no protien or real nutrition. I can't have rice at all, and pasta also is too filling for it to be a meal. Everyone's band is different, I have a banded friend that lives on gound beef and rice with no problem, I have a bite or two of rice and I am PB'ing for an hour. Everyone has different limitations but you will find a comfortable middle ground and fall in love with your band. ~Mandy -
Hi all, I managed to actually get a nights sleep last night. The first in a LOOOOOONG time. It feels good to actually be rested. I have a meeting today with the Psych group that Abi has been working with at 2 today. I have to make a list of things that I really want to accomplish with the remainder of the program. I have some of the list made, but there are so many things that Abi struggles with I just don't know where to start. We have also been told that follow-up counseling would be a good plan for our family. The parents of bi-polar kids support group is a good start, and there are plans to get Abi into a group program that is just for smaller kids. One problem with this program is it is mostly older kids (10-12 range) and the information they present is a bit over her head sometimes. Yesterday they covered anger management and she seemed fairly well balnced when she got home last night. When they talked about violence in the home she was confused, she is more of a door slamming screamer then a physically violent person, but it was quickly getting there. She was ready to throw a shoe at me last week when I told her to really think about what that would accomplish, she put the shoe down and slammed her bedroom door instead. I just want to have my happy child back, she is so angry all the time it worries me. There is a girl (12) in the program that attemted suicide a week ago, I want to get Abi help before it gets to that point. The mom said she never saw any signs at all, her daughter has always been angry just like Abi. She says she wishes she had gotten help 7 years ago, like we are, so maybe this really is the right thing to do. I will check in after the big meeting. ~Mandy

Reporting Inappropriate Posts
piercedqt78 replied to Dustmouse's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I think it is a good idea to make a reply to the post that it has already been reported, that way the mods only get one flag for the post, not 10 or 20. When I flag a post I simply post, already reported in my reply. ~Mandy -
Here is a link to one thread, there is a post within this thread that has more links in it. Very interesting. ~Mandy http://www.lapbandtalk.com/unbelievable-prototype-t25134.html?t=25134&highlight=remote

That's the one that was mentioned here a few months ago. I believe it was in Germany. I'll see what I can find. ~Mandy

My scale said 159 today, but I am going to wait until it has said that for a few days before I change my ticker. I haven't seen under 160 since I was 19. I had a very nice day today. I bought some shirts at the Disney store today for $5, they were short sleeve tops with various characters on them, we all got a few new shirts today. I also had a nice lunch with my mom and step-dad at Ruby Tuesdays. I had a white chicken chili and a salad bar. My salad was a bandster salad, cheese, boiled eggs (chopped) some sun flower seeds and avacado ranch dressing. It was great and so was the soup. I passed on the garlic bread but that was hard to do. I am still full but made chicken pot pies for the family for dinner, they were good too. :welldoneclap: I am going to have mine later. My new fridge will be here tomorrow afternoon, we are running the water lines tonight so the ice and water can be connected. They want to charge me $100 to run the lines, but the holes are already cut in the cabinets, so I am going to do it myself. There was an ice maker in my current fridge before I moved here, but the last people that rented the place took it when they left. So there was a line ran when we moved in but it was plastic and had mildew in it. I bought copper so it should last forever, or at least as long as we live here. I did some major cleaning today, laundry, dishes, and I vaccumed the entire house. I hate to vaccum, I usually bribe Dave with food in exchange for not having to vaccum. I am going to clean the carpets this week and as soon as it is warm enough to open the windows I am going to paint the kitchen and living room. I will catch up with everyone later. Hope everyone had a great weekend. ~Mandy

Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
piercedqt78 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I drop below 1000-1200 cal a day I stop losing. I believe the starvation mode theory, if you get too few calories the body holds onto everything you consume. ~Mandy -
I LOVE corned beef and cabbage, but no one in my house does, so I have to get it from a restauant Mine is much better. The Irish population here is huge so there will be parties all weekend, and they dye the Water green from Lake Michigan. (they do such a great job that it stays that color all year LOL) It really a good time, there is a parade, parties, the bars all have "pub grub" and the city comes to life, it's great way to start spring. I am staying home until later in the afternoon, my mom wants me to drop Abi off at 4:30 or 5 and she is going to spend the night, and then go to church with her tomorrow. I will get her back tomorrow afternoon. I made the decision on the fridge. I got a side by side with a huge fridge and small freezer. (I have a chest freezer in the garage that I use anyway) It has the pull out shelves, and gallon sized compartments on the door. It also has ice and water in the door with a filter system so I will actually be able to use it, woohoo! So after it's delivered my kitchen will finally match. When we moved in the fridge was almond, the stove was white, the microwave was stainless, and the dishwasher is black. I replaced the stove right away. (my sister had an almost new black stove that they didn't need so I bought it from her), I kept the dishwasher and now I have replaced the fridge. I also got a black microwave. Next project is to paint the walls, I've got a bright pumpkin/coral orange for the walls. Hubby is afraid it's going to be too dark but I like it. Well I'm going to try to get some more sleep. I was up late and then had to be up and out by 7:30 this am. Be back soon, ~Mandy

Mornin' all. I am off to buy my fridge today. I waited because there was a special to the first 25 customers today, $100 off the cost of any appliance over $399. I am getting ready to dash out the door. I will check back in later. Hope everyone has a great weekend planned. My mom is going to have Abi over tonight so I can actually get some rest. Be back later. ~Mandy

In the summer when it is hot, we live out of out toaster oven and off the grill. These can also be adapted for those cooking methods. I place my pizza on foil and toss on the grill or I set the toaster oven on 325, and bake away. ~Mandy

Would like to get lapband removed
piercedqt78 replied to nicoleev32's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nicole, you can edit the post to remove your number. It can be searched on any search engine. Just be aware that this is public domain. You can PM your number to any member of this forum if you need help with that or any other forum information feel free to ask. ~Mandy -
I like the flour tortillas too. I make them into mexican pizzas. Refried beans, cheese, and taco meat or chicken. I pop them in the toaster oven and then add some guac or sour cream and salsa. For regular pizza, add some spagetti sauce, mozz cheese, and some toppings bake until the cheese melts. It's easy and they taste good. I have also bought sun dried tomato or spinach tortillas for my pizzas. ~Mandy
-
Also try flating out biscuit dough or tortillas. I use the biscuit dough, smash it flat, add the sauce, toppings and bake. The thinner you smash it the crisper it gets. ~Mandy

Why Aren't You Losing Weight?
piercedqt78 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It can't be said enough....the first 8 weeks are for HEALING. Not weight loss. Any weight lost during the first 6-8 weeks is a BONUS. Take time, let your body heal. Right now your band is empty, it requires an adjustment to work properly. ~Mandy -
In my best kid on the play ground voice "Dianne's got smaller boobies, Dianne's got smaller boobies!!!" Sorry the pain is so bad, but you know it is better to maintain the pain meds than to have to try to stop the pain. Keep it under control, and get plenty of rest. We are here for you. Thanks for the kind words, I am sure that things will be ok. Abi started at the special school today and was a bit weepy when she got home. They have group and individual therapy everyday. They also do animal therapy, family counseling and of course school work. It's a wonderful facility and she seems to like it there. The people I worked with today were very nice too. I will update again tomorrow, I'm off to bed. ~Mandy
