Sherry, no guilt for you...I go every year without Abi. Try that for guilt, she's only 5. But we manage to go and have a great time . I will be there and I'm willing to be a tour guide if you chickas need it. I can also help you make dining plans and such. I have the extra magic hours for the dates that I am there. I have unlimited long distance if you want me to call either of you guys. ~Mandy

9 weeks post-op, I was doing all the coasters. I did 5 days at Disney World exactly 9 weeks post-op. I was still a bit tired, and needed to take breaks several times a day but I made it the entire time with no problems. I would be more concerned about being able to find food there. I would like to suggest a Dole Whip if they have them in Disneyland, they do in Disney World, they are pineapple frozen goodness. ~Mandy

Where are you staying? Do want to have lunch somewhere? If you need any help at all planning, let me know. Give me a call and I can reccomend all kinds of places. I love WDW. ~Mandy

Good Morning Ladies, I'm on hold with Disney trying to apply my free dining code. If anyone wants it, it is ZHQ, it's good from mid August through the end of Sept. You have to stay in a Disney Resort, buy at least one park day and the free dining is good for the length of your visit. It is saving me over $900 for 10 days. The normal price for dining plan is $38ish for adults and $17 for kids plus tax. We are going for 10 days. I am sooooo excited. And I actually saw 158.5 on the scale for the last 3 days in a row. So much better then the 160.5 for the last 6 months. It's just possible that I could be at goal by the time my trip rolls around. ~Mandy

Jenny, Hi and welcome. Just to let you know, there are a few NJ people here but most of us are from other places. I am in Chicago. You have just stumbled into the best place on Lap Band Talk. You will not find a nicer more supportive group of people then we have here. Good luck with the consult, please tell us a bit more about yourself. ~Mandy

I've been on Depo for over 5 years, and LOVED it. I had to go off due to the bone loss issues. The tumor could be anywhere, but it looks like it is producing testosterone. I'm not worried about the sugery at all it's the tumor that scares the beegeebies out of me. Ok, really going to bed this time, I have to be on the phone with Disney at 5:45 am. Gotta get my free dining code. ~Mandy

Hi guys!!! We have almost 2 inches of snow here today!!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!! I hate snow. I have had a crappy few days. I went to the ob-gyn yesterday. Bad news all the way around. I have some issues to say the least. She drew blood and sent it for major tests. She thinks I might have a testosterone producing tumor, and if not my ovaries are not functioning properly. I have fibroids and possibly need a hystorectomy. I am fine with surgery, but the tumor idea totally freaks me out. I will have lab results tomorrow, and will know more then. My DH took the day off today and had a tattoo apointment, I had a LONG talk with my mom, sometimes she is great other times not so much. She was good today, she supports whatever we have to do. I wish she was this supportive with Abi's medical stuff. We also had an appointment with the psych today, Abi is being left on the current med routine (that's a first) She is going to do another month on the current cocktail. Seems to be working so we are leaving all as it. I am going to be seeing a surgeon next week about the girly stuff....ugh, I hate this. I went off Depo in Oct and still haven't had a period. (sorry Mr. Pat, I know TMI) I am not losing weight and I am breaking out like a teenager. I will update ya'll tomorrow. Night all...~Mandy

Our spring break is going to be very laid back. We are planning a day at the zoo, but that's about it. WDW in fall is always so relaxing and fun. My girls group is all bandsters. We have a great time, we laugh and just hang out. I invited them here, so you guys can see how great they are are vise/versa. ~Mandy

Darcy, that is beautiful. I would buy that too. I think I would make as many reasons as possible to go there, and spend at least every weekend. My house would never be cleaned, I would spend all my free time at the cabin. How far is it from your house? Today we had a late lunch at my sisters. I made a Turkey and a small roast, with gravy for each. I also made cream cheese Mashed Potatos ( a fave with my family) a cool whip pie (recipe at the bottom of this post) and a cheesecake ball that we dipped nilla wafers in. My sister made ham and green Beans and rolls. A request was made for my iced tea, and I made 4 gallons. It was all gone before dinner was over. I am exhausted, I was up at the crack of dawn to start cooking and I talked to a soon to be banded woman in my area until almost 2 this morning. I am tired, sore and my head is pounding. I took a sleeping pill and then the clock went off 4 hours later. I guess I should have reconsidered when I knew I didn't have 8 hours to sleep. I am going to take one tonight too, but I get to sleep in tomorrow. We are on spring break this week!!! WooHoo! Cool Whip pie: 1 small tub cool-whip (I use lite) 1 container of Jello (sugar free is fine) 1 Graham cracker pie crust Make the jello according to the box directions. Allow it to set 80% of the way. Blend the jello and cool whip until smooth. Pour into the pie crust and refrigerate 3 hours. The mixture will be thin when you pour it in the crust, but will become like Twinkie filling texture as it sets. I love it when I say "I'll bring a watermelon pie" people look at me sooooo strange. They are easy, cheap, lite, and really tasty. I make regular ones and sugar free ones. Today I made strawberry daiquiri pie, it was the first dessert gone. I have also made raspberry and topped it with real fruit. I make a red, white and blue one for the 4th of July (strawberry, blue rasberry, and lemon or pineapple). Abi's favorite is strawberry banana. Dave likes the lemon lime. (I make the jello with sprite) ~Mandy

What is good for everyone next month? I am better with Sat. The 5th or the 19th? Same place? Panera works out well, seems to be easy to find, centrally located, not too expensive, and something for anyone postop or preop. I'm game. ~Mandy

Diva, it was great talking to you tonight. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know about the proceedure, insurance, or Dr. Lahmann. ~Mandy

Hi all, I had the best time with some local girls today. We had lunch at panera at 2 and didn't leave until 7....We had a blast. Kat, Abi woke up to her basket today, her daddy has to work tonight so the bunny came last night so he could be here. She got a DVD and a CD and some candy. Sherry and Crispy, I am going to be in WDW from Sept 15- Sept 24. Any chance of you being there at the same time. I give a great tour of the parks, and I know triva about everything there. Also I can make some great food suggestions. Let me know what you like and I can tell you the best place to get it.... really it's not all about food to me anymore, but the food there is really good. Sherry, the stained glass to beautiful, my aunt and stepdad do stained glass, I don't have to ability or patientce to do it....I wish I did. Cindy, WooHoo ONEDERLAND here you come.....it's a great place to be, I know I'm never leaving. ~Mandy

There are several clear products out there. I know Vitamin shoppe sells them. Might be worth looking into. ~Mandy -
That was me in the entryway. I was there at 1ish. I called my mom on my phone to see if I was at the right place. There were 3 of us there today and we stayed until 7pm We had a great time, I know I needed the time with some fellow bandsters. It's always nice to talk to someone that understands what I am saying. We want to do it again next month, what is good for everyone? ~Mandy

stomach flu that won't go away (ER doc first thought it was gall bladder but not)
piercedqt78 replied to kyethra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would ask for a hydascan. It tests the function of the gall bladder. I had the same problems, they did a catscan and told me 3 times it was not my gallbladder. I asked my surgeon to please make the pain better, even if it took exploratory surgery. He sent me for a hydascan the very next day and I had my answer right then. It was a simple test, an IV some x-ray type pics and I was on my way. I had surgery 4 days later, my gallbladder was removed and I have no more pain. The Hydascan checks the function of the gallblader. Mine was filling will bile, and then not functioning enough to squeeze it back out, so it was filling and then sitting there, very painfully. ~Mandy -
Mr Pat, it is ketones, and that's actually a good sign. It means your body is burning more sugar/calories than you are taking in. I know that when I did the liquid medifast diet when I was in ketosis it was a sign that I was following the diet. The gas gets better, walk, walk, walk. Also drinking lots of water will help. I did warm tea, that made me feel better. Welcome to bandland. ~Mandy

Do you know when you will be relocating? We try to get together for lunch once a month. Seems like our little group is growing. WooHoo! ~Mandy
