    Harry Potter Anyone???

My hubby and I saw ootp last night and it was good but not great. I really think that Emma Watson was very very uninspired. She seemed to be reading a scipt rather than playing the part. I was disappointed in her preformance. I also had a different picture in my mind of Umbridge. ~Mandy

Hi all, I too have been MIA. I managed to spend some quality time with family yesterday. We spent the morning at the zoo, we got to touch the stingrays, and then they let us hand feed them....way cool. They have their stingers clipped like fingernails, so they are not dangerous at all. It was a neat experience, Abi and I do it each time we are there and always learn something new. After the zoo we came home and cooked on the grill, then Dave and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie. It was good, but they left out way too much of the book. I think the people that haven't read the book are going to be lost in the next film. There was a family behind us last night that had not read the books and were surprised at the movie, it was kinda funny. They left amazed we left saying "what about this, and what about that?????" That's about all around here, oh, they have my street all torn out again, this will be the second summer it has to be repaved. They messed it up last year and now have to redo it. It's huge mess and the noise is unbearable. ~Mandy

    Major suegery without an unfill????

I am having a hysterectomy on the 30th of this month. I called my band doc and ask if I needed an unfill, he says no. I have heard both ways, some get a total unfill, and some stay restricted. I really don't want to gain any weight, and since I can't work out I'm glad that my doc wants to leave me with some restriction. I do watch what I eat, but I'm not a calorie counter, I also don't monitor my fat intake, but I do make smart choices. I'm so close to goal, I really don't want to start going backwards now. Any advice. ~Mandy

    Major suegery without an unfill????

I was more concerned about vomiting post-op. I think that the period of inactive time will be fine. Since I will be recovering, I don't think I will be eating much. I have some sf Jello and popsicles, and I will get pre-make some healthy meals and freeze them. I'm more concerned about getting re-motivated to work out again after surgery. ~Mandy

    panniculectomy

I would guess that if WLS is excluded, then plastic surgery would be too. I know my ins covered my band (after a major battle, and my DH union getting involved)They claim any skin reduction is cosmetic. The only way they cover any plastic surgery is after a mastectomy (sp?). Even after burns or disfigurement, plastic surgery isn't covered. My insurance company sucks. ~Mandy

Sherry, I'm so sorry for all the reflux issues. Are you on any meds for it? I take prilosec OTC and it really does help. Maybe give that a try, if your not already on something. I would call and ask to speak to the office manager and let them know that the hospital will not allow you to speak to the plat/purp team. They need to either start returning pages, or get the hospital to work with their patients. Then mention it again to the surgeon on wed, he can't resolve things that he is not aware of. I hope this works out for you, and I hope you feel better. Kat, any news on the DGD.~Mandy

    my 10k mistake

Thyroid isn't just weight related. Do you have any other odd symptoms? tired or sleepy all the time? Hungry more than normal? Cranky? Those are the signs of thyroid issues. I don't know much about blood sugar, but I know you can buy a test kit pretty cheap and check it yourself. There was a bandster here a while ago that had a tumor (cushings disease) look it up and check the symptoms of that too. Her screen name is Vinesqueen, do a search for her and read about her issues, she was banded and had problems losing weight. It was due to the cushings, there are treatments for that too. Don't give up, the best part of all of this is the band will be there when you figure out what is going on. Hang in there, it will get better. ~Mandy

I will be in the hospital for at least 3 days. They are doing the surgery open, not lap so it will be a hard recovery. I can't drive for at least 2 weeks. I'm open any saturday, I have a babysitter on saturdays. My mom keeps Abi for me and they are in chruch on sundays. Let me know what works for everyone and I will make it happen. ~Mandy

Can the two of you write story and then read it to her? Fold some paper in half, let her draw some pictures and then write a story to go with them. Abi loved doing that at 2. Here is a site for free stories....Children's Stories - Audio Renditions - Fairy Tales - Nursery Rhymes Glad to hear there are possible bowel sounds. Give her extra kisses from the LBT girls. ~Mandy

Kat, I am so sorry for you and your entire family. When Abi was 8 months old she had a bout of diarrhea and it lasted for weeks, nothing helped. She was admitted to critical care when she was so weak that she was unable to hold her head up. I took her to the ER and they rushed her to the local children's hospital. She had no good bacteria in her bowels and was in bad shape. We had taken her to the doctor several times and he kept changing her formula thinking that was the problem. The put her on an IV and gave her the anti acid for the stomach pain. It took a few days but her bowels finally calmed down the bacteria balanced out. She spent 5 nights and 6 full days in the hospital, it was a long week. I too went 6 days without food. She was allowed Gatorade so that was all I had, and only when she was allowed to have it. I guess in my mind I was being supportive in my own way. The same as when my DH did my pre-op liquid diet with me. It was pointless but it made me feel better, and it's making your DD feel better too. I will say an extra prayer for your DGD today, and one for you too. It's a shame when nurses answer the call to nursing and then suck at it. I have a SIL that is a home health care worker and I would hate to be one of her patients. She's not nurturing with her own kids I can't imagine how she is with sick people. I hope things turn around quickly for that precious baby. Stay strong, we are here for you. ~Mandy

I went for my second opinion today. I am schedualed for a hystorectomy on July 30th. (pending insurance approval) I have tried everything else, and this is my last option so the surgeon says I should have no problem getting approval. I will keep everyone updated. He is going to try to save my right ovary, but there is no guarentee. The surgery has to be open, not lap but I am ok with that too. I just want the pain to stop. 24 more days, and I will be on my way to recovery. I'll check back later. ~Mandy
