What is your favorite cliche expression that you wish you didn't use?
piercedqt78 replied to Chelle B's topic in Rants & Raves
We have an entire population that does winters in FL and summers here in Chicago. They have a name and everything. We call them winter birds. It's amazing to see the amount of people that pack up and leave their home for months at a time. I have a friend that house sits for an aunt and uncle from Nov-late march. ~Mandy -
Another option to see previous post is to open a second window and compose in one and read old post in another. ~Mandy

That's what I thought it was too. That's what you get here when you order them. I personally like nutella and fluff. ~Mandy -

Hey not to bad for the Chicago girl. We say things like "Do you wanna go with?" and Where's my coat at?" I was born and raised in the south and still catch myself saying Y'all. My husband is always making fun of me and my mom for the weird things we say. My mom can't say umbrella, she say um-bur-ella and my husband thinks it's hysterical. I think that people everywhere talk so differently that it's cool to learn about other languages and dialects. That's why this place is so cool, people from everywhere saying different things. ~Mandy -
Kat, I just got home and came staight here. I am so glad that you got good news. We are here for you whatever you end up doing. Remember that with God and girlfriends all things are possible. God makes it possible and girlfriends make it bearable. We are here chicka, and you can't do a damn thing about it. Cindyloohoo, where are you???? Jessica, getting approved and a date so soon is amazing. Congrats, I had to fight forever, and it sucked. I managed to gain another 15 pounds while fighting. Seems that insurance companies are finally getting smart and approving on the first request instead of spending the money on denials and appeals. Good luck in the teeth, I had mine pulled and worked 2 days later with no problem. Remember no smoking, and no straws for as long as the dentist says, that can cause real problems. Stock up on soup and drink plenty of warm (not hot) tea. Take care of yourself, heal well and check in with us for support. I have posted a pre band shopping list, if you search my user name and the words shopping list, it will come up. It's a pretty good list and covers all the bases. Do you have to do a pre-op diet? I am off to bed, I worked on the newsletter for my subdivision tonight and made dinner for 3 nights. I made a meatloaf, meatballs and a huge pan of ground beef for tacos, and spagetti. Can you tell what was on sale at the store today? Last night I made porkchops and my family loved them, they were on sale for $ .88 a pound. I don't eat pork but I also don't mind cooking it. I did the beef today and froze everything but the meatballs. They are going to be swedish meatballs for dinner tomorrownight. Then spagetti friday and tacos sat. We had a meatloaf tonight and I made and froze another meatloaf (raw) So dinner will be easy one night next week. It sounds like I am really organized but really I am just lazy and hate to have to cook everynight. I also have decided to save on the gas bill by loading the oven with several pans at one time instead of having to bake something everynight. It has been a long week around my house. With weird weather, some days warm and others down right cold. My sister is having issues with my 14 year old niece. It's just been strange around here for the last 8 or 9 days. I am off to bed, I'll check in again tomorrow. ~Mandy

Let me get out my Aussie to USA translation book... Bogans (punks) wear flannel shirts, and big leg jeans. They have a pack of smokes rolled into their t-shirts (think John Travolta in Greece) They go to the liquor store to buy another case of beer. How was my translation??? ~Mandy -
Kat, what did they say? I'm worried about you. Please let us know asap...(((hugs))) Patty, the job is working in the lunch room at a local middle school. I will have an answer tomorrow. They seemed really interested. It's only a few hours a day but I have all of Abi's holidays off and will be off for snow days and the like too. Darcy, I'm sure that your baby girl will stay safe and sound with momma. I'm saying a prayer for you. Take a deep breath and remember that you are a great mom and the court will see that. ~Mandy

Oh, I almost forgot I have my big job interview tomorrow, so say a quick prayer for me. ~Mandy

I will share Jack, only because you all asked so nicely and I know you will not break him....LOL! Kat, I'm sorry about the phone not ringing. I had a bit of a scare last friday, I started bleeding (like a period) and called the gyno that did my hystorectomy and they promised me a call back before lunch (fridays are half days in the office) I didn't get a call back until 4:30 and all he could say was that he needed to see me asap. Then he was not in the office yesterday so I couldn't be seen until today. Well over the weekend the bleeding stopped. He did a pelvic today and says he can't even see where I was bleeding from.... weird huh? He says all is fine, if I start to bleed again I am to call and DEMAND to talk to him. I will be seen the same day or he will meet me in the ER if the office is closed. I love this doc but hate the staff there. Patty, let me know if you want to come to Chicago. I have room here, for you and the boys. It's really a great city to visit. Tons of museums, and e have sports teams up the wazoo. 2 base ball teams, 1 basketball team, 1 football team and 2 hockey teams. It's non-stop sports around here. ~Mandy

Patty, you can come here and freeze your butt off with me. There's no fires here, but it's cold. Not as cold as usual, but still nippy. ~Mandy

Kat hon, that's how some people are, there's no changing them. I have a great way to kill some time: http://dedge.com/flash/hangman/hangman.swf?a=300 ~Mandy

signgirl, I was out of it for about 12 hours after surgery. I had to spend the night and since I was bi*ching about the catheder the nurses kept me pretty sedated. The next morning I was up and ready to go. I had walked on and off all night. (they took out the catheder just after dinner) Day 3 was my worst, and then I was back to my old self by day 4. I could have easily gone back to work on day 4. I was caring for a 4 year old by day 3, with no problem. My doctor was conservative and did not allow me to drive for 10 days, but I could have been driving in 4. ~Mandy

As far as I am aware it is the only FDA approved band as of right now. There are other bands on the market, just not fda approved ones. ~Mandy

Pat, thanks for the compliment. I still see the fat girl I was 2 years ago. I'm working on it though. ~Mandy

He was hot, and my sweet little Abi told him so!! LOL. It was cute, she blushed and told him she thought he was hot. My DH almost fainted. He leaned over and told DH the it was all in her imagination. We saw him again a few days later and she told him he was her boyfriend. Then the last day we were there he picked her for the pirate sword fighting lessons, way cute by the way. When he got up to introduce them he said she was the scariest pirate in the bunch, she smiled from ear to ear. I think she's in love. Today I am cleaning and grocery shopping. I only have 2 loads of laundry to do cuz that's what I did during the week. The two loads are sheets, it bed changing day. I have big news. For the first time in 6 years I have a real job interview. I applied for a job at the local middle school working in the cafeteria and they have now called me back. I will be overseeing the lunch room. I'm guessing it's a monitor/babysitter type thing. But it's a real job, working normal hours. I've worked in a tattoo shop since Abi was born and for the last 2 years I've been doing the stay at home mom thing. Now she's gone 7 hours a day and I'm ready to get back to work. Wish me luck. ~Mandy

We are very lucky, there is a Rocky Shadow cast in our neighborhood. Every sat at midnight. We go often. I was magenta in the cast in high school. My overly religious mother was thrilled. ~Mandy -
Here's another just cuz he's hot!! ~Mandy

MsMary, Hi I'm Mandy. Also not from Jersey. I live in Chicago and also love all the people here. We are a great little group, welcome. I am a mom to a 6 year old, and a total Disney nut. I was banded july 2005. ~Mandy

Kat, she needs to give some notice. Planning a Disney trip as far in advance as possible is always best. Some of the best (most fun) dining places fill quickly. Also I can get some great deals if she gives some notice. ~Mandy

I had surgery at UIC, and hated it. I had surgery with Dr. Horgan whrn Galvani was a "fellow". You can do a search for his name and my user name there is plety of info about my story and all the problems with Galvani. He's the reason I left UIC and went to Silver Cross. I now see Dr Lahmann and love the whole practice. ~Mandy
