Kat, Abi does still have a seizure disorder, but it looks like we finally have it under control. We have battled with seizures for just over 2 years now....ugh. She is on sooo many meds, I'm amazed she manages to eat anything other than the meds. She has been having headaches, so of course I called asap and had her tested for seizure activity. It looks like it might be something in her diet causing her headaches, or possibly even the weird weather we have been having. Pat, how are you sweetie? Please tell us all the details. Make sure you take picutures and keep a journal. Betty, I wanna go to Mexico with you guys, can I pretend I am part of the family? I clean up real nice for weddings and such. I called the doctor again today. I've been on antibiotics for 11 days now and prednisone for 10 days and I'm still congested and coughing. They put me on yet another and stronger anti-biotic. There is a nasty viral bronchitus going around and I think I have it. People have been suffering for 6 and 8 weeks with this. I called and ask if there were any other options to make me feel better, that's when the stronger meds came into play. I also took something with codine to make me sleep tonight, it was a cough syrup given to me a month or so ago and I had a few doses left so I took one. I'm going to try and get some sleep. I worked today and I'm going to try and work tomorrow. It's only a few hours and the money is good. I took a nap today, and will do the same tomorrow after work. Dianne, I'm sorry to hear about your FIL, I hope everything is ok with him. Did he go for x-rays? Keep an eye on him....I'm sure you are doing that already. ~Mandy

Amelia, I just saw the realize band, it's really cool. Maybe you could get a new band and an upgrade at the same time? It's the new FDA J&J band. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems, but at least you are going to get some results and hopefully soon. Your weightloss is great, I'm happy and proud for you. Keep your chin up chikie, Mandy

Kat, we got good news today from Abi's doctor, here's hoping you get the same for Dad. Tell him the LBT girls are pulling and praying for him. We went to the neuro today and got the results of the tests from over Christmas break. Abi was seizure free during the test!!! The head aches are most likely coming from something she is eating, so we are monitoring her diet, especially what she eats at school, as that's where the headaches are starting most of the time. He says the easiest thing to do is mark when she has a headache on the lunch menu, then we will either see a pattern or we can write off the food being the cause. He put her on Periacten (sp?) and that should help with the headaches, and it will help her sleep too. I'm feeling less and less dead everyday, so maybe this won't kill me afterall. ~Mandy

Thanks for the well wishes guys, it makes me feel better to know you guys are out there. I'm so tired of being sick, this is what almost 4 months now without much healthy time? This all started the end of Sept, and has been and on going thing. The doctor told me today that it is a regular infection that has just mutated from all the antibiotics that I have taken. I get better and then I'm sick again right away. I'm hoping this will be the combo that actually makes me better. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers guys, Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

Be aware that if a catscan is clear it can still be your gallbladder. Ask for a hydascan, it tests the gallbladder function, and is simple to have done, just requires an IV. ~Mandy

I didn't get my fill today. The doc said that me taking prednisone is a bad combo for getting a fill. Prednisone causes body tissue to swell and that would make my fill too tight or perfect for now and as soon as the swelling goes down I would need another fill. So we made an appointment for next month. I am going to the regular doctor again tomorrow, as I still have a weird cough, and it sounds like I have cotton in my lungs. So it's off for x-rays tomorrow. Maybe I'll be off work for the next week or so anyway. I'll let you all know what the doc says tomorrow. Oh when I was at the band doc's office I got to see the new band from J&J. (the realize) it was soo cool. I told my surgeon he was mean for showing it to me. I said it was like showing a wind 95 user Vista. they don't even make my band anymore, I'm obsolete. ~Mandy

I worked yesterday, even though I was supposed to be off this week. There are 4 of us that work together in the lunch room at school. I was not the only one sick this week, one of the other ladies hurt her foot. We only have one sub available, so I worked. I didn't want to leave them short handed. I have an appointment with my lapband doc this afternoon, I need a fill. Kat sometimes a good cry is the more comforting thing. ~Mandy

    Wedding Food

I also recently saw a wedding cake made of cupcakes. It was shaped like a wedding cake, several tiers tall and each tier was a different flavor, very cool.

    Wedding Food

I did not read all the other suggestions but have one of my own. Sorry if it's a repeat. We went to a wedding this past summer and the bride and groom had little money but wanted a somewhat big wedding. I live in Chicago and weddings get nuts-o here. (a cousin spent almost $30,000 on her wedding) The reception we attended was in the fellowship hall of the church (so no alcohol was allowed, a great excuse btw) they had a local chinese place come in and prepare the food on-site. It was very good, everything was hot and there were several choices available. (1 chicken, 1 beef, 1 shrimp and a veggie) This place also provided egg rolls, pot stickers, crab rangoon and white and fried rice. It was a blast, and people are still saying how cool it was. I called to book them for my community Christmas party and it was only $6 a person, and that also included cookies and the makings of hot tea. Then all you would need is a dessert table, and wedding cake of course. ~Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

I was not unfilled for my gallbladder, and had issues in post-op with vomiting. When I had my hystorectomy this past summer my band was totally empty for surgery. I'm glad it was. ~Mandy

mamato3, I'm sure you will be fine tomorrow. It will be over before you know it. It's funny when the pre-op nurse asked me if I was nervous, I said no, I get to take a nap, you guys have to do all the work. She came into the recovery room to check on me and she was still laughing about what I had said. I woke up thinking for sure there was a problem and they had closed me with no band. It was over so fast. Now here I am 2 1/2 years out and still doing fine. Check in when you feel up to it, we are here if you need us. (((hugs))). ~Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

I was ever so slightly too tight and had reflux but was able to eat. It is a very fine line between too tight and perfect. Good luck to you. Have you considered asking for a few pics of your band and see if the original doc could take a look? Also have a peek under flouroscopy? ~Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

That could also be reflux. It can be brought on by stress or too tight of a fill. Are they going to empty your band for surgery? Some band docs do others don't. Mine does. I had to have a hysterectomy and my band was empty for 6 weeks. I was too sick, sore and tired to get it filled before that. I know that my reflux went away totally when my band was empty, I got a smaller fill and it never came back. ~Mandy

Sherry, Thanks for the compliment about my progress. I know that I have come a really long way, and the last few pounds WILL come off. I have come to a complete stop with my home projects. I went to a specialist on friday, as I have had a sinus infection on and off since our Disney trip. I had severe ear pain from the flight home and then the sinus problems started. I have been on antibiotics 6 times in 4 months. Well the ear nose and throat guy did a light scope thing in my nose and I have preferated my sinus, and it has a nasty infection. I am on antibiotics for the next month and 16 days of prednisone, also a steroid nasal spray. Then on the 5th of Feb I have to have a catscan of my face and an allergy scratch test. I have to rest....blah! I have to call and ask if I can return to work tomorrow, I forgot to ask when I was there. When I filled the prednisone the pharmasist gave me the bottle she said that it will kill my immune system and I shold avoid being around sick people. I work in a middle school, almost 900 kids, and we are in the middle of flu season. I'm guessing he is going to tell me I have to stay home for the next 2 weeks, but we will see tomorrow am. It's in the 50's here today, that's a huge jump from the -4 it was last week. LOL. My Christmas tree comes down today, I'm sick of looking at it. The closet organizer it in, but all the stuff that was in bins in the floor is now in my bedroom floor. My kitchen is painted and now we need to do the backsplash, and it will be all done. Last night Dave says, hey wanna replace the kitchen counter top.....AGH!!! I did pick out hardwear for the cabinets, I think that will really change the look of the kitchen. I have very plain cabinets, and they could use some decoration. I'll check in later. I took my meds, had Breakfast and now need to load the dishwasher and clear the table. Have a great sunday all! ~Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

I didn't get a fluttering sensation but I had what felt like a balloon being blown up under my ribs. I also didn't have gallstones, but my gallbladder had shutdown, and was filling with bile. I hope your surgery goes well. ~Mandy

    gallbladder problems?

Are you supposed to be eating eggs this soon? I wasn't allowed eggs for a month post-op. I still have problems with eggs as they are a funky texture and tend to get stuck. You should call your band doc if this continues, as those are signs of a slip. It may also be post-op swelling, if you are eating solid foods to quickly that will add to the swelling. Take it easy for a day or two and try an approved food again. Hope this helps, Mandy
