    Foooooood

when I started the soft food stage, I would have my pureed food and a single bite of soft food, then the next day I did 2 bites. By day 4 or 5 I was only eating soft foods, and had no issues. I liked the comfort of the pureed foods, knowing I was getting what I needed, but the soft foods weren't going away and I had to make that change eventually. Doing it this way transitioned me, and gave me the security of my pureed foods too.
  2. Like the title says I am 7 weeks post-op and I believe I may have torn my labrum in my left shoulder. I tore my right one 3 years ago, and again last year. This is the exact same pain, and feeling. I have an apt with the ortho, but can't see them for 3 weeks. Is there a time frame that I should wait to have surgery? Any concerns I need to be aware of this soon post-op?
  3. ok, so my apt with the ortho was moved to next week. The pain is worse, and the numbness is not going away anymore. I called my surgeon and was told that they don't recommend nsaids, but everything else can go on like normal surgery. They also suggested liquid pain meds, since pain meds are usually large, and can be rough on the stomach. So basically just like when I had my band. The surgeon got on the phone, and wished me well with my surgery, and recovery. He also asked that I call them and update my progress with my shoulder. I thought that was very nice of him.

Craving Tomatoes...when can I have them?

I had sliced tomatoes at week 4. With no issue. I made sure they were very ripe, and didn't eat the skins.

    Pregnancy and soda craving

I am 7 weeks post-op and recently treated myself to a sonic slush, I asked if they could make a diet dr pepper slush and they said it was simple and there was no carbonation. It was amazing, and really hit the spot.
  6. I already feel great. I have lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks, and I'm not tired at all. I have a 12 year old daughter and she is a great help. Sadly, I lost my job in order to have my band removed and the sleeve preformed. It was an emergency, as I was unable to keep solid food down for over a month, and I was starting to struggle with liquids. My insurance approved me on a Tuesday evening (may 7th) and my surgery was the very next day. I had seen the NUT, and since I had a band before I was able to skip the psych apt and the monthly weigh-in. We weren't sure if the sleeve was possible at the same time, but since I didn't want to miss anymore that absolutely needed from work. My surgeon wanted to do the sleeve 8-10 weeks later, but I explained that I couldn't take more time off, and since my stomach wasn't too badly scarred he did it same day. I'm left handed, so having to have my left shoulder repaired is going to suck. Sorry for the huge run-on sentence but for some reason I can't make spaces in between paragraphs.

    Pillow or Stuffed Bear?

I used my flat pillow to cover my stomach when we were in the car. I didn't want the seatbelt rubbing my incisions. I did have some larger incisions because I had a lap-band removed. I did use a pillow to support my stomach as I am a side sleeper.

How much pizza can you eat ?

we get a "delite" super think crust pizza with grilled chicken, spinach and garlic and olive oil instead of red sauce. They make them at Papa Murphys. It's a place that you get raw pizza and take it home to bake it. I don't eat regular crust at all. http://papamurphys.c...enMediterranean or http://papamurphys.c...nBaconArtichoke with no bacon. I also have a recipe for a crust less pizza that uses creamcheese, and parm. http://www.food.com/recipe/no-dough-pizza-low-carb-cream-cheese-pizza-crust-501041 I have also made mini pizzas on zucchini, just cut them lengthwise, and scoop out the seeds, drizzle with either olive oil or red sauce, and then top with your usual toppings and bake until the cheese is melted and the zucchini is hot through and through.
  10. Do you attend any wls support groups? If not I would suggest looking in your area for a group. I honestly believe that having someone to talk to that you know face to face is very comforting. When I still had my band, there was a group of us that got together once a month. We would meet at a small restaurant order a few meals and split them. It was a great way to talk about the things our family/partner/co-workers can't understand. And as much as I love my surgeon, he doesn't have a problem with his weight, and has never gone through this process.
  11. I'm going to post the same advice to you as I just did to someone else in another thread. Go to a pet store and look ( you don't even have to pick it up) at a 50 pound bag of dog food. Every time I hit a slump, or stall I go find something that is close to the amount that I have lost. it inspires me to keep going. I have compared my loss to a 5 pound bag of sugar, 10 pounds of potatos, and pet food.

    Do most people have drains?

I had a Jackson Pratt drain. I joked and said it was giving my sexy new stomach a hickey. It's funny my drain incision is almost completely invisible, while my others are still fairly dark pink, and raised up. My drain didn't hurt when it was removed, and actually was a relief to be able to move around without having to keep my new stalker PJ clean, and pinned to my gown. My drain stayed until my 3rd post-up day. It was the last thing that they removed before I was discharged.

    Favorite Protein Bars

I love Detour bars, they taste like Snickers. They have some new flavors but the A bit higher in sugar, but they are really good. I have been eating these since I was banded 8 years ago. http://www.detourbar.com/products/original-whey-protein-bars/caramel-peanut.html They are good to keep in the car, I buy the smaller ones for on the go, and the larger ones and cut them into pieces to pop in my mouth around the house. I eat maybe 3 a week, when I'm not getting enough protein from food. I hate the thick shakes, and the isopure makes me gag. I do however love Nectar shakes. The green apple is the best. http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/categoryHandler?cat=Complementary%20Products%20:%20Protein%20Powders%20:%20Nectar&expand=1

    I give up!

Go to a petstore and look as a 20 bag of dog food, you have lost that much weight. Or go to the store and look at 4 of those 5 pound rolls of hamburger mean (the ones that looks like a giant tube of breakfast sausage) those pounds are gone forever. Don't think of it as only, think of it as wow 20 pounds. Your weightloss will pick backup and you will love your sleeve again. (((hugs)))
  15. I asked the questions about long term results, and my surgeon (one of the major docs on the FDA trial studies) stated that it had been in use in Europe for a long time, and it was permanent. He went over the possible complications, but also reassured me they were very rare, and the longer out the lower the complication rate. Now I'm seeing more and more people that are 5+ years out and having serious issues. I was also not told that having an empty band (several surgeries in a 2 year period) could lead to more severe slippage. Since I tend to get the dry-heaves from pain meds and being put under.
  16. I would join. I had 8 miserable years with Pandora (my band). She was named that because I never knew what I would be able to eat or not.
  17. I haven't had any complications, no real pain, and other than my inability to get comfortable to sleep I have LOVED being sleeved, and having my band out has been a life saver. (literally) In the last few days my stomach has made some really odd noises. It's not hunger, or gas. It's a rumble, or sometimes even a squeak sound. Anyone else have this?
  18. I love the toy frog idea. I'm not complaining at all. I LOVE my Sleeved tummy. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something odd going on. Since it seems to have just started all of a sudden.
  19. I am just over 6 weeks out and was a band to sleeve conversion. I had 2 minor issues, I spiked a fever in the hospital about 12 hours after surgery and the nurse scared me half to death. It went back down on it own, before they even had a white cell count back. And my lapband port incision is healing really slowly. It is healing, but seems to be taking it's sweet time. I'm down 27 pounds, and several clothing sizes already, and the doctor warned me that sometimes when you are a former band patient, the weight loss may be slower. I'm not seeing that, as I seem to be on the same track as everyone else with regard to weight loss.

    PREGNANCY DURING PRE-OP....HELP!

If they pay for the pregnancy charges they will know WHEN you were pregnant. And the weights they submit must be dated for each weigh-in.

    Gross fuzzy tongue?

You might make your tongue sore if you brush harder. But without seeing it I would guess that it's from the cells building up, and not being scraped off with food, or broken down while eating.
  22. piercedqt78

    Gross fuzzy tongue?

It is from not eating anything solid to scrape away the out layer of cells. I used to be a body piercer and it happens after tongue piercing as well. we always suggested soft food for 3-4 days, and would warn people that they were going to have furry tongue. It won't hurt you, but you can also brush it off with toothpaste and a soft toothbrush.
  23. Here is my before: And here is my after: I'm down 24/25 pounds, and I'm 6 weeks out this wed.
