For the gas I took extra strength chewable gas-x (meijer brand actually) and for the pain I also took liquid adult strength tylenol. I had Tylenol 3 with codine and only took it for the first few nights, to help me sleep. I agree with La madam, walk as much as you can. I spent the night at the hospital and my routine was everytime I went to the bathroom I made a lap around the hall, everytime they brought me pain meds (every 4 hours) I made 2 laps around the hall. The next day I walked every 30 mins a complete lap around the floor that I was on and didnt really have gas pain, just loads of gas. My tummy was bloated and I burped so loud it scared our kitties. I was also told that Milacon (sp?) in the baby section is really good, but it was expensive due to the amount of the dose required for an adult. ~Mandy

How about Flat Top grill? It looks like a make your own stir fry type place. http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/search/venues.front?page=6&attributeType=mmx-cuisine®Comm=C%3Ammx-loop Here is a link to the metromix page about it. ~Mandy

Has anyone eaten at Gourmand Café? Seems like more pastries and such than real food. I looked them up on www.metromix.com and was just curious about food choices and price, as they don't accept most Credit cards, I will need to bring cash. ~Mandy

I suffered with a headache for the first 2 days of liquids. It does get better and the liquid diet is over before you know it. I was allowed to take tylenol until midnight before the surgery and they gave me something in my IV for the headache the morning of surgery. (it was from lack of sleep) I do reccomend getting some liquid tylenol (they make adult strength) if you think the liquids are going to continue to give you headaches as it is not reccomended to take pills right after surgery. Best of luck to you, I know being banded is the best thing I have done for my health. ~Mandy

piercedqt78 replied to Zoe's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I got several emails from LBT tonight!!! WooHoo!!! :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana That gets dancin' bananas!!! ~Mandy -
I will say the same thing I just said to Kimber-lilly, Give your sorrows over to God and make peace with this. I know this is a hard time, but I also know that God will give you a baby when the time is right. Everyone at LBT is here for you, just know that you have an extended family right here waiting for you, to feel your pain, listen to your grief and send you love. ~Mandy

I did not "use" them, but they were very helpful in my appeals. I didn't find them until I had already been denied 2 times and had already submitted for the 3rd appeal. They are wonderful people and will be honest if they can't help you. They told me that my insurance company was known for being difficult and they would be tough to beat. I am the first person covered for the band ever by this company, and they covered it 100%. The people at www.obesitylaw.com are great. I say go with them all the way. ~Mandy

Looking for Dr. in Rockford, Illinois or Chicago Area?
piercedqt78 replied to "with the band"'s topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my surgery on July 28th and I just changed doctors, it's a long story. I love the new group, they are willing to bill my insurance for my fills, and if you had surgery somewhere else they still charge the same as they do for their patients. Here is the info for them, they are about an hour from rockford. They are southeast (I think, I know they are south), and located in a really nice hospital. I saw them yesterday and I am getting my first fill next week, I can't wait. At my first visit the doctor spend almost 30 mins in the room with me answering all of my questions and then said he was glad to have me abord with thier team. I have found my follow-up doc. Just make sure you get your surgical records from the original surgeon. ~Mandy Dr. Brian Lahmann and Dr. Christopher Joyce 1300 Copperfield Ave Joliet, IL 60432. Tel: (815)723-8571. -

Where are all the men from a first timer
piercedqt78 replied to englishgordon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are lots of men on the site. Jack is a great source of support and a good laugh too. He is very funny and wise too. Look around, search for any questions you may have, or post and see all of the info you will recieve. Most of the information will be the same for men and women but if not I am sure the men will speak up and let you know. ~Mandy -
I have no fill (I am going tomorrow) For breakfast I had 1 hard boiled egg, 4 or 6 small bites of steak and the centers of 2 pieces of toast with some jam. (about 1 piece total) I was full until 4 or hours later and then I had some beef-a-roni, I know not the best choice but it does have protien and it was available. For dinner I am having chicken soup and 1/2 a grilled cheese. I will probably have a s/f fudgesicle for dessert. I have also had enough water to sink a small ocean vessel today. I am getting the fill because I am starting to feel hungry too soon and I can handle the bread. I am having a last fling with bread today as I am hoping that it will be a bit more difficult after the fill tomorrow. ~Mandy

Most libraries have the monthly issues of magizines for a year sometimes longer. You could check it out or just make copies of the article. The best way to get the correct bra is to be fitted for it. If there is a local specialty store they usually do it for no charge or contact your local J. C. Penny, they are always having bra fitting events and they usually have a good sale at the same time. ~Mandy

Seems like yesterday she was still in a crib, now she is off making friends at school. She can't wait until it is her turn to do show and tell. She is a real ham, and also a real joker. My 7 year old niece came into the room and asked (very girlishly) "Who wants to see me do Ballet?" and my little one opened up her arms and said "nobody" it was really funny. She was nervous and didn't want to go, but we told her that the class frog (the classroom pet) was waiting for her. That changed her mind. ~Mandy

We have to do the pigtails, her hair is sooo curly that is it out of control with out either pigtails or a ponytail. She loves school and her teacher is really great.( she taught 3 of my 4 nieces) ~Mandy Penni, thanks for resizing. ~M

I know this sounds stupid....but

I haven't had a PB but what I have experienced is a major case of the slimes and a horrid pain in my chest for about 20 mins then it was gone. I guess it went down instead of up? It was fried fish with 90% of the breading taken off, I believe too big of a bite. Lesson learned ~Mandy -
Remember that the first 6 weeks are for healing and not weight loss. I was told that anything I lost the first 6 weeks (before my first adjustment) was a bonus. Take a nice deep breath and rekax, you are normal, I am 5 weeks post op and not losing anymore either, I go for an adjustment on friday, that is when I will start thinking about what the scale is saying. Until you are ready for a fill eat sensibly and heal. ~Mandy

My obgyn is Dr. Bush, no lie, he is great and I love him but his name cracks me up. I used to see a foot doctor names Dr. Beaver, my very coothful husband asked him if he went into the wrong type of medicine. Funny huh? The very old doc didn't get it but hubby laughed all weekend. ~Mandy P.S. Dick Trickle got his start at a race track not far from my house, and before the track closed down last year they had Dick Trickle days, too funny.
