I've been sick for several weeks and made an appointment for an unfill. Within 24 hours I was able to eat most things. Weird huh? 2 days before I made the appointment I couldn't even keep down water, I drank a glass of koolaid and it came back up so hard it came through my nose. Do you know how much orange koolaid burns through the nose? I am taking zofran and it helps but I am still queasy. Now I don't think it was by band being too tight but it was me being sick. ~Mandy

Late August is a while away yet, I would schedual it and wait it out. If you still feel restricted then you can always cancel several days in advance and they can use that time for an emergency. But if the restriction suddenly vanishes then you have an appointment. ~Mandy

Marc, welcome....I like others here LOVE my band. I too was addicted to food. I hid my eating from my family and was ashamed but the band is helping me to make better decisions and I am very happy with my progress. My 1 year is July 28 and I am down 72 pounds. I am sure that with the love and support that I know you will receive here you will start to feel more like yourself very soon. Take care, read lots and begin your life again with a fresh new start. (((((Hugs))))) Like my tag line says, The journey is long and the path rocky but I will make it. ~Mandy

I love tattoo conventions that are sooooo much fun. I did the Ink Slingers ball in LA a while back and that was just the wildest weekend I think I have ever had. We have several conventions here in the Chicagoland area every year and I love to go, I have a trophy wall in my bedroom from all of my tattoos, my artist never takes them, he only wants the ribbons. Was this your first show? Did they have any competition? Did you guys enter? Win? ~Mandy

I bought cheap silver band to wear in place of my wedding ring until I get to goal and can have the 3 rings resized. I have my diamond that is a pressure setting, my wedding band and an annaversary band. I need all 3 resized as they fall off of my fingers now. I wear the silver band that I think I paid $20 for and that is good enough for now. Also check out the rings on Ebay, there are some nice ones for pretty cheap. ~Mandy

When the ticker site gives you the code right click the mouse and highlight the entire code then right click it and click copy, then go back to your user cp and right click in the area where you want the signature to appear and right click again, it will say paste, click that. It will transfer the html code into the signature area and will make the ticker show up. ~Mandy

What Foods did you have to give up?
piercedqt78 replied to BakoGal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
no problem, I was new here once too and everyone was so nice to me and totally helped me when I had qustions. Now I am an experienced bandster and am always willing to help when I can. ~Mandy -
If you click on a tracker it will take you to the site that you need to create a ticker. Make the one that you like and then click get code, you need to code for v.bulliten. then log in and go to the user cp (top left corner of the screen) and click edit signature. Paste the code there under signature. Then preview, if you like it click save. That will show up in each post you make and it automatically updates old post with the new info when you change it. To change it go back to user CP and delete the old signature and add the new one that you create. Any questions feel free to ask. ~Mandy

What Foods did you have to give up?
piercedqt78 replied to BakoGal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A PB is what we call a productive burp. It is where something that you have eaten or sometimes a drink comes back up, like a baby spitting up, there is no stomach acid involved just what you have consumed. Sometimes it is because you have swallowed too big of a bite and sometimes it is from eating too fast or not chewing well enough. It's not as bad as it sounds, really just a little uncomfortable. ~Mandy -
What doctors are in the Chicago area with experience?
piercedqt78 replied to walshes5's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Horgan did my band, his nursing staff is good and so is the insurance woman, she helped me fight for over 6 months to get approval. They do not take insurance for fills and it's not possible to get reimbursed because the way the reciepts are written. I am happy with my band but I really think it is all about follow-up care and I just didn't get that from him. I had to see a "fellow" (he was being proctered to be a band doctor) he was a real asshole and when I complained Dr. Horgan never responded. I was told that I shouldn't worry about the kind of band I had that it wasn't my concern. I was very unhappy with the aftercare that I was recieving there. When I transfered my care to Dr. Lahmann he reassured me that Horgan was very competent but also very overloaded with patients. It is a shame that he is such a great surgeon but so uncaring. He is a great surgeon if you are willing to be a number not a person. ~Mandy -
Living with Kids, Hubby and the Band?
piercedqt78 replied to LittleBird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We also share steaks and such at my house. There are 3 of us, me my hubby and my 5 year old daughter. When we go out to eat I get a meal and share with my daughter or I pick off everyones plate. I have also been known to order an appetizer for my meal. You will learn to make adaptations in you lifestyle and your family will adapt also. ~Mandy -
Do the locals there do Ebay? I know that I sold some furniture on there last year and it was quick and easy. Good luck on such a big move, we just moved and it was a great chance to clean out all of our clutter. I got rid of soooo much stuff and then after we got unpacked I had a huge garage sale and got rid of even more stuff. I hate to move but love the feeling of a fresh start. ~Mandy

I wish I could move to Orlando, that is my favorite place in the entire world. My hubby works for the railroad and there are no rail yards for us there. If you move to that area, we are at Disney 2 times a year, wanna do lunch? ~Mandy

Inamed ... How many fills?
piercedqt78 replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The size of the band and also the amount of the fill will make a huge difference. My doctor is more agressive with fills than most. I have been filled and partially unfilled twice. ~Mandy -

My girlfriend just bought box seats for the Ozfest and offered me a seat in the box. I declined, I like to drink beer and eat at concerts and I can't do either the way I did in the past, I don't want to tempt myself.....~Mandy

What has been your "Wow" moment since you started your weight loss journey?
piercedqt78 replied to ousooner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had gone to lunch with a friend and her 19 year old son. Their family is like extended family to me.... I was at the buffet getting some crab salad (yummm!) and he came up to me and said, "I didn't want to say anything in front of mom but you look hot!!" Whooo Hooooo!! I am getting him an extra christmas present this year!!! I have also recently had my 17 year old niece start hanging out with me, she says I am cool. I am taking her and a friend to Rocky Horror picture show sat at Midnight. My hubby says I have to wear regular stuff, not dress "up" for the show as I am hottt and he doesn't want anybody stealing me away from him. ~Mandy -

Phenergran is an anti-nasuea medicine. It come in liquid, pills and suppositories. I keep phenegran and zofran on hand. I am sick now and have been since June (not band related) and have been on zofran for 23 days. It is expensive but works well. More information can be found at www.walgreens.com click on pharmacy and then medicine information, they are listed alphabetically. ~Mandy
