    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I just finished my first post op Insanity workout! I feel awesome! It felt so great to push myself that hard again! One thing I did notice though, my compression capris and top don't compress like they used to! I guess that's a good problem to have! How is everyone doing? What do you do to exercise?

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I just got home from seeing my surgeon! She was ecstatic about my 20 lb weight loss in 4 weeks! I was afraid she would be disappointed! I let her know about the stall that most of us have had. She said she had no idea that that happened and was happy to hear about all the great support that I am getting from this site! I can now move on to soft/mushy foods and lighter, modified Insanity workouts! I am so happy that I got to this point! I took care of a fresh post op gastric sleeve patient last night, and she was miserable with nausea. I did everything I could for her. It just makes me so appreciative of how smoothly my surgery and recovery went! I'm hoping that everyone is doing well today! Thanks to everyone for all the insight and support!

My almost 2 week stall has broken! Yesterday I stepped on the scale and had lost almost 5 lbs! Finally! Now to get my weight loss going again for my May 31st wedding on the beach in San Diego!

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

I've been stuck for 10 days! I don't get all of my water and protein in every day and haven't started walking consistently yet. I've not had too many problems with pain and have not vomited. Still on full liquids until Wednesday. Only 18lbs down from surgery 3/25. I'm not overly exhausted, but I do get tired easily. I am frustrated that I have stalled and frustrated that I have not been released to do heavier workouts. I was doing Insanity 3-4 days a week preop. I am starting protein shakes tomorrow (have been using Isopure clear liquid for protein). Hopefully that and dedication to water intake will kick this stall. I guess I just wanted to say, you are not alone. I've heard several people talk about their stalls about this time postop. We can do it, and we will reach our goals with hard work. Keep your head up! PS- I drink Poweraide Zero and sugar free Popsicles when I get bored/tired of water. I hope this helps!

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Hi everybody! It's so great to hear how everyone is doing! I am feeling great! Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op. I've lost 15 lbs since surgery and 40 lbs from my highest weight! Only 100lbs until my goal weight! I have my first post op visit with my surgeon today. Hopefully I can transition to soft & puréed foods today. I'll update again after my appt! I hope everyone has a great day!
  9. Hi! I have been participating in a weight loss program with Cherokee Nation Health Services. I have had some success on my own with diet change and exercise, but I have had this sort of success before and then gained it all back and more. Now I'm furthering my weight loss journey and having the gastric sleeve surgery! My surgery is finally scheduled for February 25, 2014! I have been working towards this date since June 2012! I am a nurse and have had a large amount of education pertaining to weight loss surgery. I also have personal experience with weight loss surgery. My mother, aunt, and cousin as well as several close friends have had weight loss surgery, including gastric sleeve surgery. I have a great support system with my family, friends, and my fiance, but more support is always welcome! Thank you for taking time to read my story! -Lindsey

    My surgery is scheduled!

I am now 1 week post-op! I have lost 10 lbs since surgery 2/25! I am still on clear liquids and still getting to know my pouch. My first follow up with the surgeon is on Monday. I've not had too much pain and I get around and do most things by myself, except for lifting. I simply can not wait to move on to puréed diet! Also, I know my calorie intake is very low, but I can not wait to start back doing my Insanity workouts! I feel like I'm being lazy sitting on the couch! Too much ice and snow outside to do any walking. No regrets here!

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Hey guys! I am now 1 week post-op! I have lost 10 lbs since surgery 2/25! I am still on clear liquids and still getting to know my pouch. My first follow up with the surgeon is on Monday. I've not had too much pain and I get around and do most things by myself, except for lifting. I feel so bad for the people on here that have had trouble with straining abdominal incisions. I simply can not wait to move on to puréed diet! Also, I know my calorie intake is very low, but I can not wait to start back doing my Insanity workouts! I feel like I'm being lazy sitting on the couch! Too much ice and snow outside to do any walking. I hope that everyone continues to make strides in recovery! No one's story is the same and some have more complications than others. Just take it day by day and remember why you decided to go on this journey!

I get that! It doesn't happen if I take super tiny sips or just suck on ice. I'm thinking about freezing my Isopure clear protein and chew the ice to get my protein!

Two days post-op! I will add a must have item for home post-op if you are a side or stomach sleeper... Body Pillow! It felt so good to lay on my side with the pillow supporting my lap sites! It is true that the pain gets worse 2 days post-op. I'm now on liquid Tylenol #3 which is controlling the pain pretty well. I'm having a little trouble getting liquids in because my pouch is still swollen. I just keep sipping slowly. I know it will get better! Still no regrets!

    My surgery is scheduled!

Ok! First morning post-op! I feel great! No gas pain, gas in bowels or gas from surgery! I have tolerable pain in my abdomen with 5 lap sites. I've had no nausea, but I have Zofran ordered routinely so that has helped. I have walked the halls at least every 4 hours with no trouble. I hear that the pain is worse on days 2,3, & 4 post-op, but I am very optimistic! I wish everyone's recovery could go this well! I haven't passed gas yet, but I don't feel pressure or the need. I have a barium swallow scheduled with the surgeon this morning. Then I'll be allowed more clear liquids (not just ice). If I tolerate the liquids well, I'll be discharged this afternoon! No regrets here! Wishing luck to those going to surgery today!

    My surgery is scheduled!

I am out of surgery and finally awake enough (kinda) to post an update! Surgery took a couple hours. My surgeon said that my liver shrank very well and that surgery went great! And no hiatal hernia!!! I have 5 lap sites. I have some aching pain in my belly, but the IV pain meds are working pretty well. The worst part is my mouth and throat are EXTREMELY dry and a little sore. I am allowed ice chips, but I have found that I can get too much for my tummy to take! I'm nodding in and out from exhaustion. I didn't sleep well the past 2 nights. Thank all of you that sent prayers and good vibes!

Thank you Millergirl & Jencovi! They estimated 1.5 to 2 hours for surgery, double that if she has to repair a hiatal hernia. I am a Med/Surg RN at the hospital where I am having surgery, so I really know my surgeon and the nurses will be the same ones I work beside every day! That brings me a lot of comfort!

Sending good thoughts your way! You can do this. Keep remembering why you want to do this!Thank you! Not really nervous about the surgery, just some of the possible complications. I'm just ready to wake up post-op and see my fiancé and know that it is over. I've never had surgery before, so I think that is adding to my anxiety!

Well, it's 1:15 and surgery is in 5 hrs 45 min. I cant sleep. Didn't sleep last night either. Maybe I'm just a little anxious! I have my bag packed by the door. I can't believe this is really happening! If you have a chance, send some good vibes or prayers my way please!
