Hey Katrina, Isn't "1" a beautiful number? Congratulations on making it to onederland. Life is different here--you'll see. I've only been here for a month or so, but the NSV's just keep piling on. I had to put my wedding ring away yesterday as it is so loose I was afraid I would loose it. When I get closer to my goal I will have it resized. That's one of 4 things I want to do this summer: 1. Resize the ring; 2. Get a new driver's license; 3. Get a TT (or at least get serious about it); 4. shoot, I can't remember #4! I'll have to let you know later when I remember. It's gonna be a slow day today--snowing outside AGAIN, and I am so tired of being cold all the time, I'm just going to turn up the heat in here and bundle up. I wish DH would buy a treadmill or elliptical, but that's another story.

    PBing at night

I had my second fill on Monday, tolerated liquids well during the day and went to bed. I had a lot of reflux during the night which turned into more of a slimy PB in the morning. The next day I only had tea for Breakfast, a small shake at noon, and only Water after that. Got a good night's sleep. I ate very little yesterday--a hard boiled egg and some cheese--no problem. I went to bed at 10 pm and have PB-ed probably every half hour since then. It is now 4 am. I am fine sitting here at the computer, but as soon as I lay down it will start up again. I know I could call my doctor, but the problem is that my insurance wouldn't cover the surgery so I was banded in Mexico and found a local doctor who agreed to do the fills here. When I went in on Monday the office manager informed me that this doctor no longer wants to do fills for Mexican patients--she gave me a song and dance about how expensive Malpractice is. They are going to increase the charge for my fills big time, and I can't afford to just go in and have a little taken out unless it's an emergency. So far I feel fine--no dehydration or anything as I am able to eat and drink during the day. But I don't know how long I can go without sleep! I'm thinking that I may have a hiatal hernia? I just don't know.

First, a huge thank you to everyone for putting up with my nasty mood the other night. Wht a pity party I was having! You guys are the best--made me laugh and realize that I'm not as witchy as I was feeling. I got some sleep too, which helped immensely!! Janet, nolines take some time. I just got a new pair too, and i am going to ask the optomotrist to redo them and put the line higher up b/c I have the same problem with the computer as you. I don't even really need correction for distance at all, just a sliver on the top of the lens so I can see my students when I am in the classroom, but i do need them to read anything. Work with them--you'll get used to it. Here's something I don't get: Several of you are talking about wearing size 12's. We're all at about the same place weight-wise, and height-wise, but I'm maybe a 16. I bought a pair of Calvin Klein jeans in a 16 and there is no way thoes things are going to meet on top. Even the thighs are tight. Granted, I am big boned (size 11 shoe--OK? there's NOTHING small or even average about me--well, ok I'm 5'6, that's average), but still, size 12 is totally out there for me. I have some XL tops that fit well, but mostly still 1X is better. What's with that?

    PBing at night

Hi Kjojojr, It's miserabe, isn't it? I am self pay too, so I have to think long and hard about going in for an unfill. It's getting a little better for me after about 3 weeks. I eat a decent breakfast and lunch, and only Soup if anything for supper. NOTHING except Water after 5 pm, and not even water within 1 hour of laying down. I also take Pepcid every evening. The last couple of nights have been better. My hope is that as I lose more weight, the band will losen up and I can let up on the food restrictions at night little more. Going for an unfill is always an option, but it is my last resort. I figure that as long as I can eat during the day and keep water down, I won't starve or dehyrate. I'll make it to a better place eventually. Keep in touch and let me know how you're dong.
  7. 150 pounds is a great weight loss, but I have to wonder. In 8 months that's a little less than 20 pounds a month. Did your doctor or anyone ever express concern that it was too much too fast? How did you manage to keep up your protein and stay healthy?

Mango, I have a friend who has a lot of allergies, and she says many times fabric softener is the culprit. You might try eliminating it in a few loads and see if it makes a difference. It might take a couple of washes to get it all out--apparently it gums up the fibers and doesn't come out easily. I am really a bitch tonight. I have a very bad cold--maybe it's flu, and between that and my tight fill that is STILL keeping me up sliming ALL night, I haven't slept in weeks. I never slime or BP during the day, but the second I fall asleep it starts up. I'm just miserable. DH doesn't get it--he just can't bring himself to cut me some slack and be nice to me. He just snores throught it all--after all, he has to WORK in the morning. So what do I do in my office all day? DD is home too till tomorrow and spends all her time with BF, which is driving me crazy. When did "dating" mean spending every waking moment together all day long for days on end coming home only to sleep and get some free food once in a while? I thought that was what marriage was about? She better look for an apartment when she graduates this summer. This is not going to work. Then I heard that DIL is mad at me for telling my sisters and brothers that she is pregnant--almost a week after she told us, all our kids, and their friends. I guess I'm taking it to heart because never once did she bother to thank me for putting them up over Christmas. She didn't make even one meal, or wash even one dish. She didn't bother to clean up the bedroom and bathroom they used for the three weeks they were here. On top of that, she didn't have the decency to even say thank you for the 25K we gave them to buy the new house in the first place! Then she complains because I tell MY FAMILY that I am going to be a grandma (for the first time--at age 55) DH has the balls to suggest that next time they tell us something, I should keep my mouth shut. I don't think so. I'm tired of being strong, of doing the "right" thing, and saying the "right" thing to keep everyone happy and then being castigated for something as idiotic as that. I want to lean on someone else on once in a while. I want someone to appreciate how difficult it is to watch everyone else eat the meals I make and not have any myself, I want someone to appreciate me.

I have to share my good news with my Lab Band friends: My son and dil stopped over last night. They said they wanted to borrow our snow blower but the real reason was to show us a sonogram pic of our 9-weeks-gestation grandchild! I know they've been working on this for the last year, and I am so happy for them (and for me!). I suspected she was pregnant when they were living with us over Christmas and she didn't have any alcohol to drink but I figured they would tell us when they were ready. Last night was the night!

    Who dreams of wearing stilletoes?

I bought 2 pairs of pointy toed boots with heals--I'm a cool mom!
  17. I'll be rooting for the Giants, even though I am a Packer fan. The Giants deserved to win last night--the pack let that one slip away
  18. Abortions have always been legal when the life of the mother is at risk. All mainstream pro-life groups accept that. However, with today's resources and technology, the need to abort a baby to save the mother rarely, if ever, happens.

Chim, I'm not sure if naproxen is technically an NSAID. I think ít's a COX-inhibitor simliar to Vioxx, but less damaging to the stomach, which is why it's still on the market and Vioxx was taken off. Best to check with the doctor about such things.

Phyl, Keep up the good work--it's paying off in so many ways. The Pack got what they deserved last night. We're the grieving the loss of two more weeks of all things green and gold, but so it goes. It sure is cold and dark here. Steph, I hear you about getting back to work. It is harder when you're home all the time. DH loves junk food, and he doesn't have wieght issues, so its in the house. I try to get him to keep the really bad stuff in his car, but it's his house too, so I can't be opressive about it. Right now there are several servings of Better Than Sex cake in the fridge which I'd love to throw away, however. . .well, I won't finish that thought. Anyway, I hope your first week back goes well, food-wise and class-wise. Keep us posted. Janet--just trying to help. You give so much to everyone else. But even "just walking" can be straining to leg muscles. I hope you're feeling better. Can you take naproxen or something like that when it gets too bad? DD is coming home this weekend. She's been using an elliptical at school and loves it. We're going to start planting the seeds with DH about getting one. It might take awhile for him to come around (since we still have 2 in college, money's tight), but we gotta start sometime. I think I've turned the corner on the sleeping thing. Didn't have much of anything to eat at the party last night and slept well. Make it a great week, everyone!

Your doctor's scale should be the most accurate--they are supposed to calibrate them regularly. I'd weigh myself wearing the same clothes on both of the scales you have on the day you go to the doctor's. Then keep the one that is closest to your doctor's. I'm not really sure how accurate the scales that you can buy in stores are--especially when they get into all that other stuff. Some of your muscle pain could be diet-related. Leg cramps are common when you're dehydrated, or not getting enough potassium. Also, with your heavy workouts in the gym, it is possible you're straining too much. Do you stretch before and after? Try resting, alternating heat and ice, and wearing support hose to work. I've noticed this a little too, but I think it's from crossing my legs--something I get a kick out of doing these days, and probably do too much. Well gang, another Packer's Playoff Party in the 'hood tonight. I'm not worried. I can only tolerate liquids--still too tight for solid food if I want to sleep at all tonight. I'm learning to live with it. I hope that by resting my pouch, the swelling will go down and it will loosen up. Either that, or I will loose so much weight that it will loosen up on its own. I am taking Pepcid at bedtime, but still waking up gagging on all the thick phlegm that comes up. Last night I took Muconex and a decongestant. I slept really well after the frist couple of hours--maybe that was the key.

    Menopause HELP Please!

You might try herbs--there are some that seem to be effective in relieving the symptoms of menapause. I'm taking some and they seem to be helping--although it's too cold here (Wisconsin) to have hot flashes--actually, I'd welcome one today!
