I turned 60 two weeks ago! Had my surgery 8 weeks ago, and I am down 30 pounds (almost 50 lb. since I started the program 6 mos. ago) I have been taken off 2 of my 3 blood pressure meds, and also off one of my pain medications for degenerative discs. So far this is the best thing I have ever done for myself! I am feeling so much better! I even got on the floor with my 4 yr. old grandson and played board games this past weekend

4 weeks post-op troubles
Spooky22 replied to melliratt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same thing for about 12 days and by day 13 or 14 I started to lose again. My nutritionist said it is your body shutting down. You body has to re-adjust it's metabolism and skin, muscles etc. need time to shrink etc. It is normal. Then you will start to lose a little slower than you did during the fast and right after surgery. I am 60 which means I lose slower anyway, but I average about a pound or two a week. Just remember that stalls will come ever so often and you have to wait them out. Good Luck! -
You will do fine. Just listen to the doctor & nurses and do what they tell you. Sending prayers upstairs for you

Prayer for Peace

You will do fine. The first few days are rough, but you will get a little better with each day that passes. It is worth it! Will say a prayer for you and the hands of your doctor and nurses. -
3 mos out. OMG! What have I done? Protein makes me nauseous

I am 6 weeks out and can eat almost anything. I would rather have a "taste" of something I like than to have the alternative of one foot in the grave! You will find out as you go along what you can eat and what you can not eat. I found premier shakes at Sam's club, they have 30g. of protein. One is almost half of my protein needs for the day. I too would use food to "relax" I have made myself find other things to do. Maybe you could take up a hobby. I make jewelry now and I also joined a local gym that is through our hospital. I plug in my ipod with the oldies on it and even music helps me relax. Good Luck! -
Congratulations!!! I am hoping to go to Onederland by Christmas! Hope you have a great time there

I found out it was time for some new bras when I reached for a bowl on a upper kitchen cabinet and the girls fell south out the bottom of the bra I had on! Almost strangled myself! I am 60 yrs. old the only plastic I may have adjusted is my neck. I am out 6 weeks, but have lost 45 pounds total, 25 of it since surgery. Poor girls will have to suffer.

One week post op
Spooky22 replied to GlutenFreeSingleMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with aunnyq. I had itching really bad too. A friend of mine is a surgical nurse she had me use vitamin E cream. I just rubbed it all over my tummy. When the adhesive was removed I had hives all around the incisions that were maddening. Dr. let me take benedryl. I took it at night it makes you really sleepy. Good Luck! -
expected weight loss by group

I agree with JerseyGirl, slow and steady. I just turned 60 and am 5 weeks post op. I lost 20 pounds pre surgery and I have lost 24 pounds since surgery. I also have hypo thyroid, had a total hysterectomy 5 yrs. ago. With 44 pounds gone I am now off 2 of my 3 blood pressure medications! I knew it would come off slower than my younger sleevers but at least it is coming off which is something I could not do by myself. Hang in there -
Constipation! Is this normal post-op?

Glad you are doing this good! My surgery is Tues. (17th) I like hearing positive results. I know it can go either way. This liquid fast has been the pits. Every day is a new symptom, but I am determined to get off some of these meds. -
Hope you did okay. Mine is Tues. 9/17. This pre surgery fast is the pits! Best of luck to you!
