How easy/hard is it to change your habits?
flower replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can eat soft foods and easy foods that go thru the b and you can just graze all day the band is a tool is it easy nooooooooooooooooo way it takes effort I however can say I cannot binge anymore it is impossible the food just won't fit after awhile and you get physically sick you have to stick with it and really want it to work for you nothing in life is easy and people all have their demons to fight with me included I am addicted to food. -
My insuranance paid for it and for port revision had to pay co-pays and 350 dollars to be in the weight loss program
-
I sometimes drink with my food don't have a problem told the nutritionist and she said most people have pain eating and drinking I just have the theory it will was the food thru quicker read different theories about both so who knows what is wrong or right.

flower replied to bayteelee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ate like that to I ate everything in site my doctor said to lose weight and I gained five pounds they weighed me at my pre-op visit but somehow the doctor used the old records he had taken 6 weeks before or I don't know he never found out I gained the weight but in the long run he thinks I lost less weight than I did because he is going by his records I felt like a crumb because I was suppose to be losing but I had the mentality of these are going to be my last meals no one if perfect and we just start over again youll do fine. -

DId anyone cheat while they were in the mushy /soft food stage?
flower replied to divaliciousdee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't try steak it is to hard to digest and if it gets stuck or blocks the opening you are in trouble your stomach needs time to heal and beef is just to hard to digest. you might stretch the pouch or vomit from the beef and slip your band I would follow your doctors advice they know what they are doing it for your own good -
I drove the next day just see how you feel probably get a scale just to keep track of weight loss just because if you don't lose in 3 weeks probably need a fill if your following the rules. youll feel better soon.
-
I went to nursing school and you cannot miss alot of days even if you don't feel well you have to go youll regret it later if you don't just do the best you can and youll feel better soon good luck
-
Are you a closet bandster? & Do you regret your decision?
flower replied to Time to love me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Like I said no one will ever know until they walk and your shoes and they never might I told a few people and thats it I did not want to be judged talked about watched or anything I havea the problem they don't I want this they could care less why tell them it just opens a can of worms and frankly who really cares your family and yourself good luck -
Just wanted to throw this out there could people respond to how long did it get you to get proper restriction with the band would like to know getting frustrated had second fill and no restriction doing this on my own because don't want to go for third fill and gain weight so much pressure help
-
So happy for you hope I reach such success and no weight gain in a year now that is sensational good luck
-
The reason I chose the band was it was newer and technology is always trying to do better. My husband didn't want me getting bypass because of some football player that had complications. My mom knows someone who had bypass and looks old and weathered and she had to have a reoperation because her pouch stretched. however would of liked the faster weight loss. nevere is fool proof but I'll die trying.
-
I also watched the biggest loser it was inspirational I cried throughout the show because it showed the weight loss struggles that they have gone thru and I have the same feelings hope.
-
Just feel what you think is right probably sex won't be on your mind recovery will just hard if all his weight is on top of you I'm sure youll be fine. good luck
-
Just got my second fill and I feel less restriction than the first I am discouraged I actually gained 3 pounds what is going on when they did the fill they took out the cc's to see if what they put in the first fill was there it was and added more to it. how long does a fill take to kick in its been a week help

I beat the 200 pound demons ....on to the demons of the 100's!!! LOL!!!
flower replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is so good that is one of my goals I have gotten below 200 in the past but never stayed there long this time when I get there I will thanks to the band keep up the good work in the 100's. -
My doctors start with 1 cc they said if you add too much you will vomit of pb and it is not good for the band they based there theories on an australian study they did. people in australia lost weight fast but they also vomited alot every doctor has there own ways though who knows what is correct.

call umass/memorial weight center they have three doctors doing lap bands and they might be able to help you the hospital in in worcester ma

I had to have my port revised also I had the surgery for the band june 9th and august 8th had the port fixed through the port scar. the stitches came loose and where the port goes thru the muscle and comes out my doctor said there was scar tissue and the tubeing had no movement so when I did any movement with my abdomen it had no give so to say and the port flipped or tilted make a long story short it delayed my fills was time out of work more pain but it is over and you go on it happens and you take risks with surgery and hopefully it goes well. My insurance paid for it I had just switched insurance and they did cover pre existing conditions so I did not pay a thing.

I am always interested in food I want to be healthier and look good but on the other hand its is so annoying that everyday I have to think about food choices I only have had the band 3 months and I don't eat right everyday. I can say i don't drink any carbonated beverages and rarely eat bread. Were addicted to food and thats our weakness and it is a constant battle.

The problem with the band is that softs pass easily ie. chocolates with the band you have to eat proteins veggies then fruit then carbs. With the bypass you get dumping when eating sweets and the symptoms I guess are scary enough that you don't do it again. People have failed with the band but many have not its all in a matter of following the lap band rules and going for your fills its not easy the weight loss is slow and the fills don't last long but what is the alternative gaining and losing weight or going for bypass which has its own set of problems.
