Things I will NOT miss about being fat.

Well, this may be TMI but as a man ill finally be able to look down and actually see my you know what! Yippie lol. Also, I know I'm looking forward to saying bye bye to those additional meds I won't need once the weight makes its way off :-) Scheduled to be sleeved week of October 18th.
3. Have you attended the support groups? I was back and forth until I attended them, they have been REALLY encouraging. Don't just go to one, attend them weekly and really get the feel for them, and you can bring your husband along for support. They have been SOOOOOO helpful for me in making my decision and I have made my final decsion to be sleeved, and will be the week of October 18th. Hope this helped :-)

Autoimmune Issues and VSG?

Hi! Well, I have two, I have Lupus as well as Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome and I am scheduled to be sleeved the week of the 18th of October. My doctor said NO , NO NO to the Band not only because of risk of increased pain and infection, but within the past year they have removed 40 and put in zero. I was highly reccomened for the sleeve and took on getting it. They expect no complications. Not sure if that helped at all

Sleep study

I am the same way with being away from home and finding it almost impossible to sleep. I took the sleep apnea test with having no signs of sleep apnea and suprise suprise I ended up having sleep apnea. I find the sleep centers to overall be very friendly and welcoming and clean. I think you will be suprised with how comforting they are for being away from home. The wires are annoying, but its really not that big of a deal. Bring your own pillow for comfort and something special like a family picture, teddy bear or so on. Once I was diagnosed with sleep apnea the worst part was finding the right mask. I chose the full face mask, WITH the daily disposable clothes for comfort. Sleep fine, and do feel more energized. Hope this helped :-)

For pre op diet my doctor says drink water at night, and that I can go crazy on cucumbers. Not sure if that helps...just an idea :-)

October GS Pals?..

My doctor was amazing, I started the process in July, and I'm going in October. Setting up the appointments and pushing them for ASAP really helped. Needed psych eval, endo, blood work, two support groups (although I go every week), approval letter from PCP, and cardiologist clear. I am on Coumadin so I will be getting surgery for a filter a week before I get the sleeve done. Also, where I am they do blood work three days before surgery to confirm weather you have smoked any ciggs weather your a smoker or non smoker. The endoscopy is dome three days prior to surgery here as well.

I was told the pretest will be discussion and understand of final things, also there will be a blood draw to make sure the person doesn't smoke. That's how it is in Albany, NY. I get my official dare Sept 18th, doctor says it will be the week of October 18th. Best of luck to you guys :-)

Tabbatha - What mask do you use? I use the full face one and its very hard for me to sleep unless I take sleeping meds. My machine goes between ramps 7-9. I would love to find a mask or something that maybe is a bit more comfy. I just had my three month follow up.

PROGRAM FEES

I had a $50.00 seminar fee and that was it. It varies on your insurance, but you should get a letter from your insurance stating what part you are responsible for...doesn't add up, but who knows. I would def look into it more.

PASSED! Psyc Evaluation

My sleep study is what held me up. I ended up being diagnosed with sleep apnea following the test, and had to use the machine for 6 weeks in order for clearance for that. Now I finally get my official date September 18th!!
