I broke down and ate an Andre's thin mint today. It was heavenly and I savored it in tiny little pieces! Been craving pumpkin pie lately.

Drinking before and after eating?
squawprincess_2013 replied to HB N MB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc says drink 10 minutes before and then not until 40 minutes afterwards. I just kinda forget to drink and then have to drink a lot later in the day. It's a hassle, but I guess it's life from now on. Hate to order water at a restaurant and then only take a couple sips before meal comes. If you tell them no drink, they bring water anyway..... -
Really weird belly-button problem..somethings strange since post op 4months ago
squawprincess_2013 replied to bluejay39's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine gets red inside and has an odor. I just wash it good, dry it and sometimes put a little neosporin in it with a q-tip. It's probably better to just keep it dry though. -
My NUT said 1/2 cup of cheerios is okay. There's no sugar. I eat them a couple times a week just to break the monotony of eggs. Sometimes, I have a 1/2 banana with them.

So.. Does your husband like you now that you're skinny?
squawprincess_2013 replied to Mrs.RRn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Black Diamond, Unfortunately, I am serious. We haven't had a "love connection" in several years. He doesn't find me desirable anymore. I can't find a job. He supports me and my 93 yo mom financially. I am trapped in a loveless marriage. -

My husband didn't like me before and he doesn't like me now. He does like eating my leftovers. Hopefully, when I reach goal, I will find someone who does like me. I deserve to be loved, no matter what size I am. -
Desperate for smaller clothes Sizes 18-22
squawprincess_2013 replied to alchaley's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wish I could sell some of my dress clothes and business suits, but I'm skeptical about eBay and Craig's list and hate garage sales. I have 3 wedding gowns and a formal that I am looking into taking to a consignment shop. -

squawprincess_2013 replied to alchaley's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We have a clothing exchange at our support meetings once a month. We take the clothes we can't wear anymore and look on the table for sizes we can wear now. It's a great idea, otherwise, I would have given my clothes to goodwill and bought new. I am currently between 16 and 18. I know what you mean about disproportionate! Good luck! -
How do you know when you overeat?
squawprincess_2013 replied to MissErika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I eat a bite or two too much, I feel a little nauseated. I've never felt the getting stuck thing either. I am 10 weeks out. The only thing I've thrown up is mahi mahi. Everything else goes down fine. I try to stay away from soft foods. My NUT told me at this point, I should need a knife and fork for everything I eat. I measure my protein, but not so much with my veggies. I just kinda try to figure out how much I can hold. I have to really watch the time or I won't eat anything at all. I do drink all day though. I think you're doing well. Good luck. I think we all have to learn as we go along. -
Low blood pressure
squawprincess_2013 replied to Tbird49's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My blood pressure has been running around 106/66 since I discontinued my bp meds I was on for years. PCP and weight loss clinic said that it's fine. I don't feel light headed even though it's a lot lower than I used to run. Hope you resolve your issues. -
Can't get my protein in
squawprincess_2013 replied to time4me2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't really like the taste of any protein drinks. My lesser evil is the Slim Fast High Protein. Some days I don't get all my protein in. I try to eat as much as possible, so I don't need the supplement as much. My NUT told me to only drink one protein drink a day because the already mixed drinks are higher in calories than the powder, which I absolutely hate. The shots sound like a good idea, but do they taste terrible too? I'll bite, where do you buy them? -
Day 4 and lots of Nausea
squawprincess_2013 replied to pink303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My NUT said to chew gum or eat breath mints for offensive protein breath. I have chewed gum all the time since I was several weeks out. No gas pains. In fact, I rarely have gas at all. I have 3 kinds of nausea meds, but hate taking meds. It has to be really bad for me to take a pill. Nausea is bearable as long as nothing comes up. I kinda think the nausea tells me it's time to eat or that I've eaten too much. I live with it. It's part of me now. No headaches at all. I guess I'm lucky. -
Day 4 and lots of Nausea
squawprincess_2013 replied to pink303's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks out and I still have nausea throughout the day. It's before I eat, after I eat, while drinking protein, sometimes after I drink water. What I do to fight it is chew gum or brush my teeth. I hope that someday soon my nausea will just disappear. Good luck to you. -

whey protein powder shakes?
squawprincess_2013 replied to bigbeauty78's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I came to hate the protein I drank before surgery. I changed to the Isopure they gave me in the hospital. I am starting to hate it too. So, I have been trying the other options on the list. So far the two that I can tolerate (but don't really like) are the EAS AdvantEdge (they taste watery) and the SlimFast High Protein. Any of the proteins tend to make me nauseated, but I guess I have to have them. -

I'm 8 weeks out and have lost 44 lbs. I have my two youngest grandsons sleep over every Friday night. They are 4 and 5. Each weekend, without fail, the 5 year old says, "Grandma, you're still fat." So after I took them home this afternoon, I walked 2.2 miles around the lake in the pouring rain! I may still be fat, but I'm determined to see the day he won't be able to tell me that anymore! LOL

I am 8 weeks out. The other day I cooked 1 large scrambled egg and 2 slices of turkey bacon. I had to stop after half the egg and 1 slice plus 1 bite of the bacon. I don't seem to be able to hold much at all. Tonight I had 4 bites of spaghetti with meat sauce and 6 grapes. I feel almost too full all the time, but I don't seem to be losing very fast now. I walk at least 2.2 miles a day too, so I think I should be burning more than I'm taking in. Guys lose quicker than girls. That plus you're eating 2 medium eggs instead of 1 large one is probably the difference. I think you're doing okay. You could always ask your NUT.

Who's morbidly obese?
squawprincess_2013 replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats! You just educated me, too. I didn't know the cut off for morbidity. My BMI is 37.7 now, so I join you in not being morbidly obese! I agree that is such a nasty sounding term to identify with. -
tortilla 5weekspost op.
squawprincess_2013 replied to dwhitten's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Reign, Bless your heart! I hope you've let your doc know about this. It doesn't seem right at all. I have been very fortunate and have never had anything get stuck. I do have some nausea everyday either before or after eating, but have only thrown up once since I've been home. I was 8 weeks out this past Wednesday. If you aren't able to eat, have you lost a lot of weight? You said you can drink alright. Are you getting in your protein? I drink Isopure, but am getting kind of tired of it and am looking into trying some different kinds. I think maybe a variety of protein drinks would be more appetizing than just the same kind all the time. I understand about your depression. I've been depressed too. I always used food to make me happy, so I'm mourning the loss of my old "best friend." It's a different life for us now. I hope when I'm a year out, I'll be used to eating such a small amount, be thin, and be happy I had the surgery. I know all the yo-yo dieting was bad for me. My health is better already and I've only lost 44 lbs, so far. 95 lbs. to go! Call that doctor and take care of yourself. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Linda -
Can't get my protein in
squawprincess_2013 replied to time4me2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I liked the Unjury before surgery, but hated it afterwards. I drink a bottle of Isopure between breakfast and lunch and a half bottle between lunch and dinner. So I get 60 grams in from that plus my egg, beans, meat, cheese, etc. A friend recommends EAS from walmart. She says it's cheap and she likes it. I'm not a milk drinker of any kind, so not really hot on anything that's shake-like. I may try a bottle of the EAS just to have a break from the Isopure. Hate Isopure green tea, but the other flavors aren't bad. They are expensive at GNC, but my local grocery has them at 3.99 a bottle. I stock up. -
Sixbuttons?!
squawprincess_2013 replied to sixbuttons's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 5 year old grandson has to see my incisions every time I see him. I have 6. He always asks me when they are going to heal up because they are still reddish in color. He told me to show his babysitter when I went to pick him up. Funny, but no way was I going to show this stranger my belly. LOL Six belly buttons is funny! -
tortilla 5weekspost op.
squawprincess_2013 replied to dwhitten's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sleeve Master, I would say you ate it too fast. I have eaten tortillas several times now without issue. NUT says if a food actually makes you sick, wait 3 months and then try it again. I don't know if I would wait that long, maybe a month. I'm 8 weeks out today. I've eaten bread, bread sticks, bits of rolls, flat bread from Subway. I have even had a couple bites of egg rolls. If you eat slow and not too much, it seems to work for me. Good luck. We all know that we can't do without bread items completely and be happy about it! -
Had my appointment at the weight loss clinic today. I saw the exercise specialist, and she gave me an exercise plan for cardio and strength training. I saw the PA and the NUT. I am doing fine and they are all pleased! I have lost 44 lbs and my BMI has gone from 45 to 37.7. I am able to tolerate most foods and the NUT was pleased with my food diary. Told her I hate to diary, but she won't let me out of it!
