Possible Sleep Apnea.
tignet replied to Dreamingofhealth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes a while to get used to the CPAP. I had a hard time at first but now love the restful sleep I get with it. -
Possible Sleep Apnea.
tignet replied to Dreamingofhealth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you use your machine after surgery or is there some time when you can't use it post op? You use it right away. I was on oxygen for a while and while on oxygen they would pump it through the machine. -
Possible Sleep Apnea.
tignet replied to Dreamingofhealth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have sleep apnea and it is one of my health issues that allowed me to have the surgery. It isn't a problem for the sleeve. You are asked to bring your machine and mask to the hospital. I was bummed out when I found I had sleep apnea but now love my machine and find out I sleep so much better with it. -
I had my husband's insurance. It was BCBS of IL and his company had all weight loss surgery excluded. I am able to have mine now because I am under Medicare. We paid a high premium for BCBS and always thought we had the best coverage. Never though surgery for obesity would be denied

November buddies where are you?
tignet replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Questions, I have questions. Not about the pre surgery diet or anything like that, but our Facebook group. Can our regular Facebook friends see our posts. I am hesitating saying anything there till I find out. I have some real life friends who are "Negative Nellies" and I don't need negativity before surgery. Lovely people but have a hard time saying encouraging words.Let me know if what I post or responses to your posts are private please. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Help! My surgery date is Nov 11. I am trying to get all things in order and am wondering how people have handled thyroid meds after surgery. It is a medicine that has to be taken on an empty stomach. I am planning on crushing it an and adding to Water and just sip, sip, sip. No idea if this will work. Any thoughts from others? Sent from my iPad using VST

I feel the same way you do Tammy. I fear the issues with my head more than stomach hunger. I am hoping that 2 years from now I can be in control naturally and not want to eat anything that isn't completely beneficial to my body. Sent from my iPad using VST -
What I thought were gas pains turned out to be major blood clots.
tignet replied to potpieiii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad you went to the emergency room and got there on time. I have had many surgeries and often wonder about blood clots afterwards. Your experience will help us to realize and be cautious about the pains we feel while healing. I am glad you are doing well. -

Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
tignet replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 5 and I am doing ok. My poor husband is not. He is grumpy and hostile. He says he can take care of his own meals but I wonder if that is true. I am trying to stay out of the kitchen as much as I can. His eating has always been a big trigger for me. He can eat anything he wants and stays within 15 pounds of high school weight, something I could never do. -
Anxious? nervous? doubts? sadness? waiting for surgery

Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
tignet replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Chris I have Dr Rantis and have surgical date one week after you. I just started the shakes this weekend and they aren't as bad as some I have had on fasting diets. Looking forward to surgery and I would love to hear how you are doing as the procedure progresses. -

Hi blessed4 My surgery is Nov 11 also. I am on a liquid fast for two weeks. If your doctor said a clear liquid diet did he give you a clear supplement to mix with water. If not I would call his office and asked how you will get nutrition for the weeks before surgery. I do have a product I brought online that you mix with water and it is clear. Maybe he is thinking you should use something like that. -
I will add you to my prayer time. I am going for mine on November 11 and am hoping for an early morning time for surgery. Looking forward to hearing from you as you recover.

November buddies where are you?
tignet replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am on the down stretch towards surgery. Yesterday was last day of regular food. I was with family so I didn't plan anything special and was fine with that. I have had years of eating. All testing and appts completed except for the final visit to the surgeon, and then on November 11 I will be on my way to hospital. Looking back on the last two months I feel that I have been in a whirlwind with all the appts, emotions etc. The emotions lessen as I passed each hurdle. One of the biggest was deciding how and who to tell about the surgery. I wish I could just say I am going to have my gall bladder out and surprise I lost weight by doing it. I have decided to tell those who ask the truth and the rest just to say I am having a procedure. Much easier than to worry about reactions. Most who care for me have been supportive. -
Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
tignet replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my first day of pre-op fast. I have been through liquid diets before and know that after a while my body adjusts and I feel great. Just concerned about getting adequate water intake. Must keep water with me today, actually not just today but for the rest of my journey. I hate sugary drinks, especially those with artificial sweetener. -

This is all very valuable advice. Thank you all. Especially for "believe you can do thus, really believe." I think I always sabotage myself with my crazy brain. Thank you for spelling it out. -

I did a protein shake diet last year and got used to it eventually. This morning I decided to do a shake instead of regular breakfast and it is making my stomach feel like yuck. My surgery is November 11 so soon I will have to have shakes. I hope I can do them without feeling nauseated. I have some different brands to try so maybe one will be ok.
