Still in hospital since fri morning, haven't been able to stop throwing up . Blew out my iv vein do my hand looks like an elephant foot . On a good note I have had any gas pains ! But I'm sooooo done ugh
Hang in there sweety. I know how that feels and I kept thinking "what have I done". I know you are probably tired of hearing this, but it really does get better each day. The first 3 days were some if the worst I'd ever experienced and it was really hard for me to remember why I was going through everything that the surgery put me through in the hospital. Stay strong and things will get better.

I am over two years post op and lately, I have been experiencing a lot of gas and Constipation. My diet has not changed. I have a history of endometriosis and recently found out that I may have hypothyroidism as well. All of the symptoms could be attributed to any one of these problems. But sometimes I wonder if I have a bowel obstruction? Is anyone else having issues with constipation and excessive gas?
From what I've read on here, a large majority of sleevers suffer from both.

I had my sleeve on 2/12. So far I am down 15lbs. I today started feeling hungry for the first time
Are you taking your PPI acid reducer? I can't stress how important it is Bc acid mimics hunger.

Oh, I won't sleep without it on! I'll just undo it for a bit while laying down. I also haven't tried side sleeping. The couch has been really comfy with 5 pillows all behind me, it's like a way more comfy version of the hospital bed. And easier to get out. Haha. But yeah. I can't imagine not having one wear ever. No thanks.
Ohhhh. I misunderstood ya. I have to have help getting it on though. Thank goodness for Lindsay and Jolie. They've been a huge help. Jolie even changes my bandage over where my drain was pulled Bc I have to keep it covered for 5 days. They said it's a high risk of infection otherwise.

If it were my daughter, I'd take her to Dr. Alvarez. Look him up on YouTube. He has performed surgeries on younger persons and is very skilled.
If I'd exhausted all options, as you have, I'd have no qualms about my daughter getting VSG.
Good luck, and give your daughter a big (((hug))) from me.

Like is it for medical reasons after surgery or is it just to give u a shape like a corset? Doesn't it hurt wearing it right after surgery? I'm 5 days post op and it bothers me when my pants or shirt rub against some of my incisions...
I woke up with it on and if I have it off I feel like my insides are gonna burst out of my incisions or that they are gonna pop open. I'm the opposite of SJ, I prefer to wear mine at night Bc I'm a side sleeper and without it I'm in a ton of pain rolling from side to side or getting out of bed. Also if you laugh or cough it keeps you from feeling like you're ripping your incisions and tummy open.

My dad got me.skme Smooth Move tea today. I've sat on the toilet twice today and passed some good gas and whatever you wanna call what came out of my butt. Haha. I'm still debating if I should try it, or wait until tomorrow or Monday. While I feel TONS better now that I've done it, there's still plenty in there making lots of noise for my roommate and I to laugh about. Ha.
Girl, I'd try it. If nothing else you'll get rid of a ton of gas. Today my sis invited me to lunch (I just had a lemon water) at Rib Crib and all at once I had to go potty. Right then!!!! Of course there was someone in the stupid restroom so, just as I started to use the men's room instead of crapping in the hall, a kid comes out. I run in there n barely make it in time. But I had so much gas it was crazy. And loud. It was so loud I was feeling sorry for the table of people not far from the bathroom door. When I was finished up inside the restroom and walked past that table they all stated at my in disbelief. Yeah... I think I ruined their lunch. But I felt better n that's really all that counts. Lol

What's an abdominal binder?
It's this stretchy thing that is wrapped around your tummy and velcros shut. It holds you in. Lol
-
Yes! My dad has the higher toilets at his house. I have the normal low ones. So peeing at his house wasn't terrible. I went to go the first time here last night and thought I wasn't going to be able to sit down. I finally did. But in was so surprised how much easier it was after the drain was out. And how much easier it is to wipe my girly bits after it was removed. Hahahaha
I agree!!! Instead of taking 15 damn minutes to wipe it takes 10 seconds!!!! Lol
On another note, my belly is so distended. I can neither suck it in nor pooch it out. It's just there all swollen. When I take my abdominal binder off I feel like my guts are gonna spill on the floor through my 4 incision sites. Lol I'm supposed to wear it til my 2 week follow up but I only wear it at night Bc it kills me during the day.

When did u have your surgery ?? Because I haven't felt the full signal .. In fact I feel the opposite .. So maybe that's normal to not feel "sooooo full" I was a little scared that the surgery didn't "work" or something
I had mine Tuesday the 18th and the full feeling was this tightening at the top of my tummy. In between my boobs. It was painful n I thought the liquids were gonna reappear.
-
It's also awesome how much easier it is to get up and sit down after she removed the drain.
I know!!! I'm not feeling like I'm dying every time I lower or raise myself off the toilet, which I was.
-
Ditto. Getting my drain out was like a total release of pressure. Plus a nagging pain under my rib cage disappeared immediately.

A little concerned Yesterday I was able to get in a lot more than I have been able to today. I have only been able to get in about 10 oz today. I feel soooooo full
I feel the exact same. I was just telling my daughter that yesterday was easier. Maybe it was still too numb yesterday and we never felt the "full" signal.

**Warning - possibly TMI** (lol) Okay all you poopers. I had my surgery Monday and no poop for me yet. I'm eating puréed Proteins 3x a day. At what point do you all think I should be concerned? Oh, also got another period yesterday, too! Had one on the 7th and another one showed up yesterday. Really?! I don't know if I should be worried about it or not.
I'd take Miralax. You do not wanna get impacted and have to go to the hospital for that
-
Ok so what are you pooping if you are not really eating? I'm having surgery on Tuesday. So what stage are u in?
Diarrhea. liquid in and liquid out. But it's so loud. Totally embarrassing. Lol but I feel better Bc of losing the gas. Whew
-
Now that the dam has broken I can't stop pooping. With TONS of gas.

Does any one have a hard time with regular plain Water ??? I am not nauseous nor does it gag me but no matter how small a sip it hurts my stomach for a little bit ! I have been just going through it just to get my water in but it def gives me a hard time getting it down
I can't drink it. Neither can many of my sleeved friends who are out over a yr. put lemon in it or a drop of Mio. I halved mine with Vitamin water zero.

Hey guys. Today seems better so far. Yesterday. I think I ate too much chicken broth for dinner and was soooo full. But weighed this morning and down 5.2 lbs. YAY!!! I have been off the pain meds since Thursday. But still take some Tylenol extra strength at night. The worst part now is my BMs are now in liquid form. (Sorry if TMI). I do still get some gas pains when I drink, but they have reduced as well. Thank you all for being here to share this experience with. Hearing your experiences and being able to share mine has kept me from being scared throughout these first few days. This forum is AMAZING. but it is because of each of YOU!!!
Speaking of liquid form.... I almost didn't make it to the bathroom in time. I have such pain in my incisions at night that Tylenol doesn't cut it but at least I feel human again during the day. Glad you're better. (((Hugs)))

Ok thanks. I do have that medication. A nurse is coming to my house in two hours to discuss medication. Also how was ur gas pain after surgery?? Mine was unbearable so I took gas x and now I'm doing a whole lot better. I still have gas pains but now it's moving along instead of just sitting there and now I'm able to pass gas which I was never able to before
My gas pains were excruciating. But now they are almost all gone. Hang in there. I bet when u get on a ppi you'll find that you have little hunger
-
I do have the best dad! Me either! Cause hopefully by then I'll have farted. Or pooped. You should hear my belly right now. You'd think I could do some liquid poop with the way it sounds Uggggg.
Hang in there buddy, I have a feeling you're gonna have a volcano eruption very soon.
-
Yeah, the liquid lortab was $92. But I couldn't imagine not having it. These gas pains are ridiculous. I walled around my house for an hour last night, and about 45 minutes this am. They just don't wanna vacate my body. Argggggg. I built a bed on my couch, I the corner of my sectional. I've got like 5 pillows behind me, so I'm kinda propped up like I was in the hospital. definitely helped me sleep on my back. Cause I'm like you side sleeper 4 lyfe. Hahah I'm glad you're feeling better!!
Thanks, today was a new day and I felt better. I'm thrilled that we get this chance to restart. Yesterday I went to the bathroom like 4 times and my intestinal gas was then gone. The gas in my body cavity gets me every now n then but for the most part it's dissipated. I'm ready to rock this thing!
-
I'm so so sorry they're stupid exlensive! My dad spent $117 on my rx's yesterday. What. The. f**k. Hah.
Heck no. I can't afford that. You're such a lucky ducky to have such an amazing dad. I'm glad you're doing well. I can't wait til we are a few months down the road just rockin n rollin along
-
I think we can blame it on the fact we're all on some type of pain meds! Like right now i have to focus real good to not see 2 phones... haha
At least y'all got pain meds. My insurance sucks ass. I had to get liquid lortab from my sister. I'd just like to give a shout out to the makers of Vitamin Water zero... I love you and thank you for keeping me hydrated. Lmao

Those are some great ideas, thanks... I don't get where the "you WILL fail" idea came from and why it got so many likes....what did I do to indicate a propensity to fail? I recognized an issue early on, and asked for help (both here and from a medical professional). I didn't think putting the definition for "liquid" was helpful; I mentioned and recognize that I will have this issue when I move to the next stage as well, so I wanted to prepare. And of course I "knew this was coming"...I am just unfortunate enough not to have psychic powers and know what experience and issues will be particular to my post-op. I researched a lot, but I didn't foresee an issue with the in-between stages. Such a mixed bag here. Back to lurking, thanks all. Love,
All of my tastes changed. I can't drink plain Water. Anything sweet literally gags me , and so it's hard for me to find things that settle right. I can't wait to progress to puréed foods in 2 weeks. I know it gets tiring and boring but remember to take a ppi antacid Bc acid mimics hunger. I take protonix twice daily and a lot of others take it, or omeprezole.
Also, when u post on these boards you're gonna get all sorts of different views. Please don't be discouraged. We do not want to see anyone fail. Sometimes people are very blunt, but you take what you can from all of the posters and leave what advice that doesn't work for you out of the equation. What works for someone may not work for you.
This lifestyle change is very hard. But yes, we are here to support you. Lots of (((hugs))), April
