I went to my first nut appt today. I was put on a diet very similar to Atkins with the exception of a protein shake for breakfast and a snack of cottage cheese, low fat cheese or Greek yogurt with a little fruit. I only have a three month diet though. Unless I don't stick to it. Otherwise they will extend it out further. Ugh.

Congrats Sherry!! It'll be here before you know it. I went to my first nut appt and a physical therapy checkup. The nut put me on a diet similar to Atkins and the phys therapist wants me to use a spirometer three times a day to strengthen my lungs before surgery.

When you dwell on what others think of you, you're picking up their **** and carrying it around with you. You can't embrace your own life if your hands are too full of someone else's ****. Put it down. Everyone has their own insecurities and, unfortunately, as you keep losing weight your friends are going to make comparisons. You have to let it roll off your back and let them come to terms with their own issues. With this type of surgery the weight loss is so rapid that it is definitely not something that is going to go unnoticed. You just have to keep your own head in the game and remember that no matter what weight your friend may be, she has her own self image in her head that she's dealing with.

I've ALWAYS been attracted to bigger guys, and I've not always been a big girl. There is no way I could date someone too thin or shorter than I am. I'm just not attracted to them at all.

Justin, that's what I worry about. Eating the wrong foods. Don't get me wrong, right now I am at the point where I see my friend (who has the sleeve) eating the same crap she did before she got it and hasn't lost anywhere near where she should be a year later. I'm wondering if I'm gonna end up like her. It scares me.

Lots of water flushes out potassium. Could be that.

Wow, you're definitely a stronger person than I am! Twice? They fed that through your nose twice? I think I would've had a panic attack. I hope you're able to get some rest hun. Hopefully it'll be over before you know it.

Just stay upbeat and positive. It'll happen. It's all you can do right now, otherwise you'll drive yourself crazy. Lol

I'm pre-op, but I was talking to my hair dresser the other day as she was doing my hair about the surgery and hair loss. She said lots of her clients have seen hair loss due to weight loss and told me that besides biotin I need to take gelatin starting now, and once it starts coming out not to do vigorous brushing or pony tails, as they both will pull a lot from the roots.

Hi there! I had my consult and talked to my surgeon extensively. I asked how many VSG's she's done, how many leaks she's had, what types of pre-op tests are needed, what is used to close my incisions, etc. I suggest you make a list of all of your questions beforehand. Your doctor should be open and honest with you and if you feel like he/she isn't, then go elsewhere. I make a 2 hour drive to see mine and its worth every minute. Take a calendar bc you will be making other appts. After the consult with my surgeon, I talked to a coordinator. He and I sat down and made all of my NUT appts, my psych appt, a support group appt, an appt with a physical therapist and an appt to go to one of their support groups. It is a 2 hr drive for me so some of my appts were on the same days as other NUT appts (I need 3, each a month apart). So, for example, I have a NUT appt on the 30th@10am, then at 1pm I will see the physical therapist, etc. They gave me a binder with every phone number I'd possibly need and lots of info, plus a copy of everything we went over and everything I agreed to. I'm so excited, yet scared, but ready to get this thing started so I can head towards a healthier me. I hope I helped at least a little. Good luck, April

Would love to know how things are going for you, Natalie. I saw groups on here for Christians, Atheists and Agnostics and I don't really belong in those groups. I do however believe in Reiki, positive energy flow etc. I believe if people only knew how powerful their thoughts only were the world would be such a different place.

Wow. I had to go back and look at your "before" pic again because you don't even look like the same person. You need to do the same.

Definitely ask your surgeon, but mine said 4-6 weeks depending on how I'll be doing.
