My biggest fear is the dang IV. I know it's pales in comparison to having an actual surgery, but it's what I dread the most. I figure on the preop, since I get 2 meals of protein n veggies a day I'll likely be ok, I try not to think about that IV. Maybe I won't faint this time. Lol April

Wishing you the best of luck! They say the first 3 days are the hardest on the preop diet. I hope we all feel the same. It'll be hard, but worth it.

I did the same thing with a bag of potatoes!! I've lost 11 pounds pre-surgery and was disappointed in myself until I did that.

Mine is so different. A shake for Breakfast, half a shake for lunch with protein n veggies for lunch, dinner is same as lunch. Lots of fs fluids. The preop for me consists of a meeting with my surgeon, PA, EKG, chest X-ray, final labs and a 2 hr nut class about life post surgery.

I don't have a husband Actually, I stayed with my sister after hers and told her she could just drop me off at the door for mine. Her recovery was so easy. Either she or one of my aunts will stay with me, I'm sure. They got pissy when I told em to just drop me off. Lol

Thanks!! You can borrow mine. They're actually ages 22, soon to be 19, and 17. They'll give you practice in case you want some. Lol. Actually my oldest isn't here all the time Bc he works out of state for lengths at a time, middle child has his own place and Jolie is here when there is no school (4 day weekend for her so we'll probably binge-watch movies). Easy peasy.

Ever since having my gallbladder out everything goes through me and I have horrible dumping syndrome. Hoping it's at least a little better after surgery.

Me too. I just keep thinking positive. Or trying to. Did you read my post "making me cry"? I've gotta definitely stay positive for my daughter now.

Will I be giving myself blood thinner injections once I'm released? Will I have an abdominal binder? Will I have a catheter? How will you close my incisions? Staples, glue, steri strips, or a combination? (I asked this Bc I'm allergic to the adhesives on steri strips) Will I be given any pain and antibiotic prescriptions, and if so can I pick them up prior to surgery so I won't have to go and stand in line for three hrs and get them filled? If I'm given an antibiotic I always ask for a prescription of diflucan. I get yeast infections with antibiotics and I'll be prepared with a couple of diflucan tablets. How many nights is "standard" in the hospital?

What's crazy is I live all the way in Durant, down by the Red River but was born and raised in Paul's Valley. My friends have used Dr Nelson and loved her, she's at a Center of Excellence and I think it's worth the drive. My daughter plans to go to OU when she graduates next year. Boomer Sooner! April

My mom was just like that. To a T. But very manipulative. If it had been my mom who'd blown up on me like yours did to you, she'd have done it just to switch tacks. That way I'd be the one calling her and visiting her and trying to make amends. "Oh, it's ok mom. I didn't mean it like that". In the end you're gonna have to just not answer the door.
