    My rant update (dh)

Wow! What beautiful girls!! And they definitely have a beautiful mom. Inside and out. You are very courageous and stronger than you know. Do what's right for you and your kids. Children learn to accept the treatment their parents accept. You getting them out of a bad environment is brave and will help their personal psyches as they develop. I'm proud of you. April
  3. I have gastritis and severe GERD and am taking protonix twice daily so it's considered controlled. Isn't stopping me.

    Gatorade?

Thank you. It's a natural sweetener that doesn't make me run to the bathroom after using it. Lol

Is Sobe the drink with stevia as a sweetener?

    February/March 2014 sleevers

At my final meeting with the surgeon before I start my preop is an EKG, chest X-ray, labs and a 2 hr class about nutrition after sleeve. That's on feb 3. The next day I start my 2week preop diet and surgery is the 18th.
  8. have then check the gallbladder. Mine felt like I was being skewered all the way through by a sword.

    Menstrual cycles

Rx tramadol (ultracet) helps my daughter and is not a NSAID. She'd go to the ER sometimes Bc of horrible cramps.

    on the losers bench!

First off, congrats on your new sleeve!!! You're on you're way to a new you. When my sister got sleeved they put an abdominal binder on her. You can get them at DME stores. You may wanna ask your dr if it's ok to use it. I know the way you feel, I've had c-sections that felt the same way. The binder is the way to go. Until you get one, take a pillow and hold it in against your tummy when you cough, laugh or get up and down. April
  11. Can't tolerate any flavor of bariatric advantage shake mixes. I'm pre-op and have tried mixing with everything from water, to skim milk to almond milk etc. I either throw them up or have diarrhea. The premier is something I can handle though. I don't know what's wrong with the others that bother my digestive tract.

  13. My surgeon appt is the 3rd of February. So, a little less than 3 weeks away. I don't know how to get to blogs on the phone app
  14. February 18th here I come!!

  15. Are there any to add to my list? I don't wanna forget anything. I have one more meet with surgeon and then start my preop
  16. Then I'll put that on my list. I can't have bananas Bc I'm allergic to them, but I love some peanut buttah
  17. I hate the isopure. It is so nasty I thought I was gonna hurl. I did go to herbalife and they have this peach mango beverage mix that tastes like Kool-ade. It has no sugar, and 2 carbs and 15g protein for 8 ounces. It DOES have 70 calories so I can drink it before surgery on my preop. I tried one in the blender with ice and it was like a sno cone.
  18. Might pick up some pb2 for after I come home in case I want a peanut butter taste with my protein shakes. Have y'all tried that?
  19. Not sure. The vets say not to overbuy foodstuff. So I'll have a few different types of sf drinks and mixers, Popsicles, bottled water, broths and soups to strain, jello and premier chocolate rtd shakes. So I'm pretty much set for my preop and post op.

    serious second thoughts

It's normal for us to have that freak-out moment. I'm still freaking out. But I sat down and made a list of the things in my life that this surgery could possibly do for me and a list of the ailments I'd suffer from if I didn't get it. If dying is on your surgery list, well it'll definitely be on the "what will it be like with no surgery" list. The obesity-related deaths are so scary. You're so young and I only wish this surgery were available when I was your age. Talk to your doctor, explain your fears and listen when the dr explains precautions to take to prevent clots. This surgery is a life-changer and you are given blood thinners. You will be up walking around a lot, you can do this.
  21. There was a thread about lower body aches and pains but I think it was joints. I can't find it now. Anyway, the gist of it is that when we are heavier we walk to compensate for that weight. Just like if you were carrying two 10 pound bags of potatoes. You'd walk differently and that weight puts pressure on specific areas. Well, as you lose weight your gait changes. You'll walk differently. Your spine and joints are changing. That can cause pain and aches. Especially from the lower back and below. If it's Charlie horse-type us let cramps it's probably a need for potassium and magnesium. April

    7mths out!

I swear I look almost exactly like you do in your before pics. Same curves and figure. I can only hope to do as well as you have. You look amazing! April
  24. I'm presleeve but I was already told to expect to lose hair Bc of exactly what LMD said, and that due to the change in hormones (especially estrogen) from the surgery and losing weight, that it is possible to have irregular periods and skin breakouts. April
