Sarah, if it isn't at that deepest incision site, and it doesn't sound like it is, I'd call my surgeon's office. It could be gas or a million other things but it's always best to make that call and get checked out. April

Thanks Glitter!!!

Aww, Jen, thank you for always being supportive I'm trying. I know this is normal but still get a little discouraged. But... SJ and I have made a decision to not weigh til Saturdays.

Day 7 post op and still not able to drink enough
SuperFab replied to squeaker31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slowly. I know you hear this all the time but it really does get better over time. I remember being so discouraged and even crying Bc I couldn't get past that feeling. Then I got to where my urine was pretty dark so I knew I was getting dehydrated. I got Vitamin Water zero and a 1 ounce little plastic cup. I'd fill it up and my friend and I would play "the drinking game" and I'd drink an ounce every 5 minutes. We'd do that a few times a day with different fluids. (Plain water made me sick) At about 5 weeks out I was able to drink almost normally, taking about 3 swallows at a time per drink out of a regular cup. Now I swallow without even thinking about it. Only thing is I have to make myself remember to have something to drink with me Bc I'm never really thirsty. Hang in there. It'll get a little better each day. April -
That's awesome!! I'm trying not to get discouraged. I'm down 53 pounds from highest and like 33 from surgery. It just seems like each pound is real work and I am feeling true hunger. It's not acid (I'm on protonix twice daily) or head hunger, but true hunger. Gnawing at me screaming "feed me!!" I've adjusted carbs, calories, Protein, fluids etc. I know I need to only weigh once per week so I think I'm going to do that.

That was about how it was for me. -
Well, I'm not supposed to have alcohol for a year and am gonna try to stick to that if I can. I have a mild allergy to the tannins in red wine so I always drank Asti, which was carbonated. Or vodka and cranberry. Or beer.... Lol Anywho... My favorite was Asti, but since it's carbonated I'll probably forego that and stick with the vodka and cranberry when I do drink alcohol. My sister was cleared for alcohol in 3 weeks. Every surgeon has his/her rules and I don't see anything wrong with you posting about alcohol. If I'm being honest with myself, I will probably have a drink on my birthday in June or when I'm on vaycay in July. But I'm not sure. Be sure and let us know how it goes. I know with my sister she has a much lower tolerance than she had. She gets a buzz much faster. But she also gets sober faster so I'm guessing that she's metabolizing the alcohol at a faster rate than before. Have fun!!

I've taken my ppi (protonix) since surgery. I had severed GERD so I was on it pre-surgery. My surgeon said not to go off of it Bc my heartburn will flare back up and stomach acid also gets confused for hunger pangs. Stay on Prilosec daily.

I'm 2 months out and have pains in my largest incision Bc I ripped internal scar tissue. It heals with time.
-
Props to SJ! Lookin all that and a bag of Oreos... Ummm... I meant protein shake
-
Exactly the same

Mine also loosens up throughout the day. At night I can eat the full 3 oz
-
Yup. I could only eat 2 oz. then 3. Now if it's something like tuna I CAN eat 4 but I measure out 3. I use a food scale religiously.

Also, try different temps of fluids. I can only drink if it's over ice. And water makes me nauseated. I can't drink it plain. Not straight from the bottle or even over ice. I get what's referred to as "water nausea". -
I don't mind losing all of my boobs if it means I lose everywhere else too. I can always get new boobs. May have to save up, but I don't care. I'll just roll em up n put em in a peanut shell once I'm at goal.

My psych told me that she wanted to really watch my meds (I'm bipolar) Bc estrogen is stored in fat cells and when u lose weight it is released. When u lose weight as rapidly as we do, it's like our bodies are flooded with estrogen. I'm on a drug that has to be monitored anyway, but she wants to watch me even closer so I don't go into a depressive state. Plus she wants to follow my absorption rate with the new tummy.

I'm 7 weeks out and rarely get in 64 ounces. I can drink normally now, but am never thirsty so I have to force it. -
I cut those broths with regular broths and they saved me.

suggestions for full liquids ? sick and tired of broth
SuperFab replied to Harley59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr office didn't demand low fat on my full liquid stage. I was able to blend any soup and strain it.
