    Ohsu?

Hey everyone! I went to a seminar at OHSU a while back and I was really impressed. Anyway I was just wondering what other people's experience with OHSU has been. Also, I do not have insurance and am looking for something that will cover lap band. What did you guys use? Thanks for all your help

24 pounds in 10 days? whaaat?

I am in the same situation. I have been on the pre-op diet since July 15 and I lost 20 lbs in 5 days! I started to feel weak and light headed so I called the nurse and she said I lost too much fluid. I was pretty dehydrated even though I was drinking tons of water and taking all my vitamins. She had me eat some salt to try to get my fluids back. I feel better now but it was really frustrating for a while there. I would say a lot of the weight you are losing is water weight. As long as you still feel energetic and don't feel ill I wouldn’t worry about it. Just drink tons of water! Good luck and congrats on your weight loss
  6. My Doc put me on a 2 week Pre-Op liquid diet. It has been really tough but I have almost done a full week. :clap2: I jumped on the scale today and I have lost 20 Lbs in 5 days! I was just wondering if anyone else had similar results with their Pre-Op diet. Thanks everyone!

    Non Supportive Family

Hello, I just got scheduled for surgery this past weekend. Although I was extremely excited and would have loved to scream it from the hill tops, I was hesitant to tell some friends and family members. When I was looking into lap band, many people in my life expressed their disapproval of weight loss surgery. None of them are overweight like me and there is no way they could truly understand how hard it is to lose the weight. I love them all so much but I'm not sure of the best way to approach the situation. Most of them know I am getting the lap band but we just try to avoid the subject. I was wondering if any of you have been in this situation before. If so, how did you deal with it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much,
  8. Hello Everyone, I am scheduled to have Dr. Steven A. Tersigni do my lap band. I met with him and his staff and was very pleased. I just thought I would check with you and see if anyone has heard of him or had their band done by him. He is located in Coos Bay Oregon. http://www.baybariatrics.com/html/practice.html Thanks for reading this!

    Pre-Op Binge

I think it is normal to have (LMS) Last Meal Syndrome haha I love that. I haven't even gone to my consult and I am already stuffing my face! I think I better at least try not to gain before my surgery. The low carb thing is a great idea. I bet it will help make the transition to the post op diet a lot esier. Good luck to you!
  10. I am going to my consultation on July 2nd. It has taken me a while to actually decide to meet with the surgeon. I am paying out of pocket and metting with him is $260! I just received the information they sent in the mail and I am getting pretty nervous about the surgery. I read something that says you souldn't eat shrimp or peanutbuter. The peanutbutter makes sense but these are my favorite foods. :think I am also really scared about the post-op diet. No solids for 4-6 weeks?!?!?! AHH I really hope I can make it. If I am having resevations about these seemingly little things, does that mean I shouldn't do the surgery? Any words of wisdom you might have would be helpful. Thanks for listening to my rant.:faint:
