    Too much protien?

I was just looking at your stats. Are they correct or did I miss something??? Whoops! No, they were not! Thant 1 should have been a 2. Thanks for the catch!
  7. Exercise regularly. Change up what kinds of foods you're eating, (staying within your program limits). Vary your intake from day to day, (again, within limits). Eat a few carbs if you're not already. Weigh\Measure\Journal everything that goes in. Weigh yourself no more than once per week. Take your measurements, your body may be adjusting. I rarely lose inches and pounds in the same week. Take a Biotin or hair skin and nail supplement. Get 75g of Protein per day. Wash you hair less if you can, (that's hard in the summer) and keep your mitts off of it as much as possible. I lose more hair when I straighten it and put it up than if I leave it natural.
  8. Sounds about right. You may not feel a ton of restriction until you try solid food. It's DIFFERENT and takes a lot longer to pass through your sleeve.

    Too much protien?

We don't absorb nutrients the same as folks who've not had WLS. True, the malabsprotion component is greater in a R\Y patient than a sleever, but sleevers are missing 85% of their stomach where some of the absorption takes place. According to my surgeon, this is why we are told to supplement Vitamins, minerals and Protein FOR LIFE, and why yearly blood tests are needed to check for potential issues. Everyone is different, but as long as my checkups are good and labs are perfect, I'll keep doing what I'm doing, (getting about 75g per day).

    Tell me about your restrictions

I was sleeved in October of 2013 and never really had problems with anything in particular except rice. It took about 6 months before I could tolerate it well. As long as I don't over eat or eat too fast no real issues with anything.
  11. Perfect blood work Off all prescriptions except PPI (prescribed post-op) Shopping at Victoria's Secret Thinking that I was done with all clothing sizes that started with "X" and then buying in an "XS" maxi skirt Having my purse fit with me in the seat at the movies Watching my fitness level improve via lower heart rate and BP Confidence Shopping in any store I want, (sometimes in the JR's section) Barely recognizing myself in pictures Taking the stairs with my 20 pound computer bag without passing out Painting my own toenails Cat calls while walking into the mall (I'm 47 years old!) Eating out is VERY economical now as I either order ala carte or have leftovers that last several meals Being able to take a walk on an 80 degree day without sweating myself into a puddle in 5 minutes Sleeveless tops
  12. I've had similar experiences both in the office with folks I don't really know well and once with a neighbor I'd never met before. It's a little weird, I agree! It may be hard, but try to view these experiences as compliments and OWN your success! You've accomplished a great deal and someone noticed!
  13. I'm 7 months out. I originally thought I'd lose an even 100, (putting me at 135 on my 5'6 frame, (right in the middle of the healthy BMI zone). But today, having lost over 80 pounds and already wearing a size 6, I'm not so sure I need to go to 135. I've decided to shoot for 145 and re-evaluate. I may go for the extra 5 or 10, maybe not. My surgeon, like yours told me I could stop (if I wanted) at my 6 month follow up when my BMI was still in the overweight category. Guess I'm an over achiever, 'cause "average" doesn't work for me. My goals are MY goals. Go for a weight YOU feel good at (within healthy parameters, of course).

    Dating after Weight Loss Surgery

Ditto this. Your first couple of months you'll be losing the hormones\toxins built up in your fat cells at a rapid rate. Makes for a bit of a crazy person. Best to wait at least a few months or until your mood stabilizes.

    pre-op antibiotics?

None, in fact they took me off all supplements and some of my prescriptions for 2 weeks pre-op. I'm pretty sure there were antibiotics in my IV cocktail though. No issues with infections and I was out of the hospital a day early after only 24 hours.

    Acne

All kinds of stuff, (hormones, toxins in the body etc) is stored in fat. During the most rapid phases of weight loss, lots of folks experience more acne, stinkier than usual sweat, etc. It's pretty normal. For me, I'm near the end of my losing phase and have noticed my face is just bumpier lately. Not as smooth a complexion as I had before. Probably has to do with less padding under my skin. Could have something to do with the fact that it's summer and I'm using facial sunscreen now and sweating more. I'm gonna try exfoliating more and maybe changing up the brand face of sunscreen to a "drier" one.
  17. I had it pre-op pretty severely but didn't know it as it presented as nocturnal coughing. I had been treated for asthma for 10 years, (unsuccessfully). They found and fixed a hiatial hernia during my procedure which was contributing to the problem. For the first month post op, the problem was worse. I was told that this is a "reflux inducing surgery" due to the fact that they create a higher pressure digestive system. I was put on 40mg of Omeprazole 2x day which eventually got things under control. Today, at 7 months out I take 40 mg Omeprazole only at night and am managing well. I hope to be off of it eventually, but am prepared for the fact I may have to take it forever. Not the worst thing in the world. It's the only prescription I take now and I had been taking 10 different prescriptions 7 months ago!

    Dating after Weight Loss Surgery

I'm divorced about 4 years now. The last 3 1/2, I didn't have the energy or the confidence to put myself out there. I was sleeved 7 months ago. Went on Match late last year and have had a ton of "first dates", not many second dates, (sometimes it's him, sometimes its me), but few truly "bad" experiences. I'm near my goal at this point, and enjoying my new found social life with a confidence I've never experienced before. The attention is a bit overwhelming at times as I went from being "invisible" as an obese person, to being "seen" as a person (by all genders), seemingly overnight. It takes a bit for the brain to catch up! I have to say, I'm picky. He has to ride a motorcycle or want to. This is a huge part of my recreational life and something I want to share with my future partner. That weeds out about 90% right there! And he has to have a commitment to fitness. I don't want\need a gym rat, but I need an accountability partner my life as I move from weight loss into maintenance, plus, he's gonna have to be healthy to keep up with me now! It feels a bit like I'm making up for lost time and I want to experience EVERYTHING! So wish me luck, I've had 4 dates in as many days, (which wears me out, but I don't want to miss a thing)! And I have one of those rare second dates tonight. He asked me to pick a restaurant where he could find something "not fried", (no, he doesn't know about my procedure yet), and we're meeting on our bikes if the rain clears. This one just might make the cut!

    Anyone on here in Kansas?

I was sleeved in October of 2013 by Dr. Selim at KU. Best decision I've ever made!
