    just WRONG

I bring what I need from home, Propel Zero, water, nuts. Even have Keurig at my desk! Cheaper than vending machines and I don't have to smell whatever nastiness someone cooked int the microwave in the break room! Just sayin'.

    Favorite foods post op?

I LOVE eggs now. Or I should as AN egg, with a slice of american cheese on it. Roterisserie chicken, home made soups with lots meat, or chili. Immediately post op I made a lot of stuff off theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. Great resource for all diet stages. Also, I was not a sandwich person pre-op, but since I've found P28 protein bread, sandwiches are part of my life! I live alone, so on the occasion I haven't been to the store, (which seems like often, lol), I'll throw together a 1/2 grilled cheese with P28 bread. Gives me my comfort food fix, as well as my protein, (14g per slice plus whatever's in the cheese). It's filling so I haven't tried it with meat. Might need just 1/2 slice! I can't get it locally so I order off their web site. It freezes well.

    Ummmmmm...?

I take a handful of supplements at a time twice per day. It looks like you were just sleeved, so I bet it wasn't comfortable, but the pills should dissolve and move through just fine. May want to pace yourself or cut the large pills in half (if it's safe with that medication) for a while!

    Odd Woman Out At Work

I feel your pain. No women friends at work. It hurts sometimes. I'm not part of the "clique" because I'm not a mother, and there's probably a fair amount of jealousy over my weight loss. So work, is work, I'm only there 8 hours per day! My social life is a different story! Lots of dates, I've met a guy I kind of like enough to maybe consider dating just him for a while, and my small circle of girlfriends has remained my rock through the my procedure and weight loss.

    Isn't it Ironic

That kinda sux, but at least you have an alternative! And btw, I have vitilago too and it's bad on my hands\arms. I call it my "camo" now! My nails were in such great shape from all the biotin I'd been taking, I decided to go for manicures myself! You ROCK those beautiful nails!

    Help after surgery?

It's different for everyone. For my sleeve, I was only in the hospital 24 hours, (released a day early), never needed narcotics and would have been fine on my own. I slept in my bed with a wedge pillow for the first week which helped. I just learned to roll to my side before attempting to sit up. It sucked, but I could manage it. My mother came home with me for a couple days and finally got bored and left after 48 hours of doing essentially nothing. That said, IF there had been a complication, it was important that someone be there to monitor me for a couple of days.
  8. I have one, but I've never used it. I order off the kiddie menu all the time anyway or alacarte, or get an appetizer. I have a friend who uses hers if she's at a buffet though. I will too if I ever go to a buffet again!

    What's Your Favorite Store Now?

    Nordstrom Rack!
  10. I was the first patient in on a Monday morning, came thought with no issues and was released from the hospital the next day. Never cracked the seal on the pain meds prescribed, Tylenol Jr was enough to take the edge off. I went back to my desk job the next week. I was "pleasantly surprised", as you say!

    Hiatal Hernia

They found one when they did my EGD and fixed it during my sleeve procedure, (about a year ago). I noticed nothing "different" tho I didn't really have experience to know what the sleeve would be like either. I recovered quicker than expected with zero complications.

    Can I get some feedback!(please)

I agree. If there's a snack I get fixated on, I tend to give it up for a while. Find a new favorite.
  13. BCBS of Kansas City and yes, the office waited on approval before scheduling the EGD as that is an expensive and invasive test that is not without risk, (they do put you under, usually with Propofol). You want to know you're covered before taking that step!

    ISO Low BMI Sleeve Mentor

I was in similar boat. At 47 years old, I'd not seen a healthy weight since I was in second grade but everyone (except my docs) told me I wasn't "that" fat. I was approved on a BMI of 37 with multiple medicated comorbidities. It's been right at 1 year now and I've been in maintenance for 3 months. I exercise 5 days per week now and LIKE it. I eat what I like in small portions focusing on protein but sacrificing nothing. My comorbidities are gone along with all the meds I was taking pre-op. I work at it, but the work is manageable now. Life is GOOD.
  15. AElode, oh hells no! I was READY to get outta there! They had me in some weird anti-bedsore bed that had a life of its own! Had air floating in it and as soon as I'd get comfy, the damn thing would fart and move me just enough to disturb me! Then my room mate was up ALL NIGHT LONG pooping on the portapottie and watching Golden Girls on full volume. To say I wanted out... Understatement of the year! I hope your hospital experience is more relaxing than mine! LOL
  16. Yes. They let me shower the morning after surgery. Then the sent my a$$ home a day early!

Miss You Most / Don't Miss You at All

Miss you most: Anything with bubbles... diet soda, beer Don't miss you at all: There are soooo many, but today, I'll say my previously non-existent social life! I'm a BUSY girl these days!

    Jeans or a dress?

Amen to no "missed" opportunities! My fav quote right now is, "You'll miss 100% of the chances you don't take". And I'm also trying to maximize my opportunities to meet people "organically". I Never turn down a social opportunity these days, but have had limited luck with meeting people "organically". Still doing the on-line thing. LOTS of first dates! One last week and 3 scheduled in the next 2 days. The 2 today are back to back riding dates which I would be doing anyway on a beautiful day like today. My other favorite quote is, "If you're looking for your soulmate, stop. They will be waiting for you when you start doing the things you love"! Seems like that's exactly what you were doing when you met this guy, horse in tow! THAT gives me hope! Anyway, until he falls into my lap, I guess I'll keep trying to maximize my chances to meet people on all fronts! And now, I must go change into skinny jeans and tall boots for a full day of riding.. :-)

When you can't even be honest with yourself

I originally told everyone even remotely close to me stopping short of a full scale coming out on Facebook and got zero negative feedback. I got genuine concern and questions, which are a GOOD thing! It means the people in your life care about you! Did some of them try to talk me out of it? Yes, they did. Their concern forced me to educate myself and them about my procedure and the reasons I'd chosen to do this. It made me a smarter, stronger person and helped me educate some others about the struggle obesity is along the way. Today, I am an open book. I tell BECAUSE I don't want to fail. BECAUSE I want as many accountability partners out there as possible, and BECAUSE I've become an example and a mentor to others and I'm sure as hell not going to let them down!
  21. I read something today that made a lot of sense to me. "What matters to success isn't the speed with which you lose weight, but whether you lose weight with a lifestyle you enjoy enough to sustain." -Eggface Wise words. For me, anyway, the "diet" mentality has never worked. What does work is focusing on healthful choices first, working in the things I like, (often, but not always modified to make it more healthful) and moving my body. If I put on 5 pounds, I take it off by eating a little less, eliminating alcohol for a week and moving a bit more. THIS is a lifestyle I enjoy enough to sustain!

Petite multivitamin am and pm Fishoil pearl am and pm Biotin am B12 am D3 am PPI am and pm Multistrain Probiotic am (needed daily laxative until I started these, now things are normal) Iron at noon (I set an alarm, but sometimes I forget the iron if I'm not in a good place to get it out when the alarm goes off.) Time release calcium an hour before dinner, (that horse pill is so big it takes up food space so I try to separate from the meal) I get all of them OTC, (not bariatric vits). It's rare for me to miss a dose. Labs were good at 6 months. My "1 year" labs are late. Have opted to wait for my regular doc checkup in a few months since I'm over the lifetime limit for WLS on insurance.

    Eating after surgery

I was just starting purees at 3 weeks, but all docs are different. A meal should take no longer than 30 minutes, otherwise it qualifies as "grazing". You don't say how big the meatballs are. If it's taking you 2 hours, you're trying to get too much down! Take a step back and slowly eat meals you can finish in 30 minutes. If it takes longer than that, you're full and should stop eating until the next planned snack or meal!

    Vomiting after surgery?

I did only once when they gave me hydrocodone by mouth (in spite of the allergy bracelet I was wearing to prevent that). I can't take that stuff by mouth on a good day and 4 hours post op was not a good day. Never tried any narcotics for pain after that. Didn't need them. They controlled my nausea with something in my IV and a patch behind my ear that I wore for about a week post-op. No issues.
