    Would you do it again?

I too am sorry for the complications you all are having, I had my banding 11-22-2004, I have lost 102 pounds so far and still have room for more fill. I had minor issues, at first I had air in my band that we had to play with to get it out, and now I am having some reflux issues, which they are actually thinking was caused from month of antinflammotories and pain meds. Other then my port still being just a touch irriatable when pressed on, everything at went awesome and I have lost 102 pounds that I would have NEVER been able to do with out it, oh and NO medications of any kind now either is needed. So would I do it again?? The answer is YES YES YES!!! in the end I have lost almost a whole person. Hang in there I feel you too will change your minds if you feel now that you wouldn't do it again!!!

I was banded in Clarksville Tn, by Dr. Hruska, on Nov 22 2004. DR. Hruska was in with Dr. Steely but she moved out of town so I am going to see Dr. Steely on Feb 8th for my 3rd fill. I have 3 cc in now and hoping for .5 cc fill to top me off for a while.

What do you wish you had known?

I wished I would have heard more about the games you mind will play on you after surgery and your not able to eat, Unreal how much you miss chewing the first few weeks, but on a good note I am 5 and half months out and the whole food is my life syndrome is subsiding, my world does not revolve around food anymore, but now I find myself reallllllly bored and hunting for things to do

    Looking for Memphis,Tn LapBand talk

Just thought I would add Dr. Hruska to someone that you may want to contact for self pay, from everyone I have talked to she seems to be the cheapiest and she is very good, she is the only one in my area that takes state insurance like Tenn-care. She is located in Clarksville, Whichs is about 3hrs from Memphis and 1hr from Nashville. She requires you to register through her website, and are very good about getting back with you, even after you have sugery this is the quickest way to get a response. https://gb.remedymd.com/ if you are inrested in talking to her create a new file and then just follow the props. I know she requires this things to be done before she will even consider doing the surgery. 1. dietian consult for gastric bypass/banding 2. physic appt, for the surgery 3. Written letter of medical nessisity(sp?) which they will give you a copy of a letter that you can get your primary dr to fill out. this helps with getting insurance to pay, but if self paying it may not be nesscary. 4. sleep study, she is big on this because of the problems with pnemonia that can occur after this type of surgery. 5. She asks that you loose some weight and start a pre opt diet which will be like what you do after the surgery, I done all of this before seeing her, I lost 11 lbs I have always been able to loose about 20lbs on my own but never go under that. So when I didn't loose anymore after talking to her, she knew first hand that I had already lost some weight before seeing her My highiest weight was 280, after loosing some before surgery I was 269, so the day of surgery I weighed 269, she goes by the 269 but I go by the 280 which is what I weighed the first time I saw her, she just don't count that bit you are suppose to loose before surgery, Ok this is long winded, I hope this helps some of you. I live about 25 mins from Clarksville, Clarksville is where I had my surgery, by Dr. Hruska. Nashville on the other hand is about 2 to 2 and half hours for me. It sounds like fun, I maybe able to do this, If I am not working again by then.

    Tennessee Bandsters ??

Hello, Newby here, just found the site, I was banded in Clarksville Tn, near Fort campbell Ky, I was banded on Nov 22nd, 2004, Glad to have found this site, DR. Linda Hruska did my surgery at Gateway medical center, they have recently opened an bariatric center. Really great Dr.
  12. Just 3 days BEFORE Thanksgiving, and I am thankful for my band, My insurance paid for the surgery, I have Tenn Care select, very easy to get approved, if you have your eggs in a roll. I had my first fill Jan 17th worked well for about 3 weeks, even tho I still lost, I could eat more then my dr wanted so I was filled again on the 24th, at that time she found that she could only pull out 1 cc of the 2 that she put in, but she didn't seem to concerned about it, she said that some times absorption happens. I have lost nearly 45 lbs already and like 6 inches, my height is 5ft 4 inches, I started out at 280lb and I am now 234lb. My personal goal is 160ish. My surgery was done in Clarksville, Tn by Dr. Linda Hruska, she is a awesome surgeon, would most diffently recommend her to anyone. can't wait to start reading more post
  13. Went for my fill on Thursday, and when she pulled out the fill from last time she only was able to get out 1cc and I had 2 put in. she refilled me with a total of 3 cc and stated that in 6 wks she would check it and if she don't get 3 out they may have to consider replacing the port. She said something about absorption, what do any of you all know about this?
  14. I meet 5 of you yesterday Feb, 24th at an appt, for a fill, just hoping to catch up with some of you all on here, or anyone that has been banded. Take care Misty (banded Nov 22, 2004 280/237/150
