  1. Hi Everyone, I'm new here and, started this journey in June. I have completed all the nutrition appointments, health appoints, nut appointment, Upper GI, endoscopy, lab work, etc. I am going into month 4 of my 6 month weigh in's. I have a BMI of 40.5 & no co-morbidies. I weigh 245-250. I am just trying to find out if anyone has Health Net/Hills physician California and been denied? I haven't submitted authorization (that will happen in December). I would just hate to do everything that I have been doing and the wonderful insurance company doesn't approve me because I am under BMI. Thanks for reading my post.
  2. It's interesting to hear how everyone is preparing for surgery. I just met with my Dr. Yesterday and she said I don't need to do the full liquid diet just two shakes a day. Right now I am drinking turbo chocolate hydro whey.

    liquid diet starts Monday!

I went to my Dr. Yesterday and she said I won't need to do the complete liquid diet for two weeks but, just 2 protein shakes a day. It would be nice to hear how other people maintain for two weeks. Right now I am drinking the turbo chocolate hydro whey.

    Decision Confirmed!

I also remember getting on a ride at Great America and they couldn't lock the shoulder rest because I was too big. I was so embarrassed. I had to get off in front of all those people. I can't wait to get this sleeve. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories!! I guess we have all gotten to that point. At least it's not the point of no return!
  5. I have thought long and hard about why I wanted the sleeve. Today my reasons were confirmed. I went to back to school night for my son and was mortified by either 1. The desks are MUCH smaller than when I was in school or 2. I have gotten THAT much bigger!!! How embarrassing, I almost didn't't fit in the chair!!! Then I got stuck!!!! I can not wait to be sleeved.....3 more months to go!!!!! Please share your wake up call moment!!!

    6 months doc diet.....start!

I met with the nurse during my weigh in and she said I just need to move to 2 shakes a day and I won't need to do the 2 weeks liquid diet. Whew, that was a relief. I have never been a breakfast eater either. So the shakes work perfectly.

    Day 2 sleeved

How are you feeling today? Is the pain more bearable? How much longer do you have to stay?

    6 months doc diet.....start!

My Dr. told me to maintain my current weight for now. I haven't been told to loose anything yet. How about you? I'm kind of concerned if I have to go on this 2 week liquid diet before surgery. What has your Dr. told you?

    Rant

I have chosen to tell nobody. And when my surgery date comes I will only tell my Son and Mother. I agree it's nobodies business and I don't want to hear it.

    Pre op preparing!

I started taking vitamins and protein shakes as soon as I found out I was accepted into the program. I have a 6 month waiting period, I started (in June) taking 1 pill each day of Hair, Skin and Nails, sublingual B-12, women's one a day multi vitamins, Calcium Citrate w/500 mg of Calcium. I'm hoping for a December surgery date. I also drink 100% whey 1x a day and will soon go up to 2x's a day.

    6 months doc diet.....start!

Hi Lynn, it looks like we are the same height, same weight and hoping for approval around the same time (my six months will be up in December). I have been doing monthly weigh-in's (I actually go in tomorrow). SO far I am done with everything but the monthly weigh in's. Holding my breath and hoping for the best .

    Newbie

Hi, I haven't had my surgery yet but, I have read on tons of posts that your tastes change and the things you crave are different. Most posts I have seen is that people are sore after surgery but walking does help with the pain and healing. Good luck with your appointment. I am hoping I get approved in December.
  16. That is what I am working towards. Right now I have a morning shake but, I will need to move up to 2x's a day. Better sooner than later.
  17. Hi! Good luck with your surgery. Are you on a liquid diet?

09/10/13 i am now 6 days post op

Wow one night. That is great that you were feeling that good you could leave. I haven't had my surgery yet I am hoping everything goes smoothly like yours did. I have read a lot of comments about having a squishy pillow so I will have to remember that! Are you having trouble keeping anything down?

Congrats on being 6 days post op! Did you or are you having any pain? How long were you in the hospital?

    Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!

Good luck! It will be interesting to hear how you feel after surgery. Update if you can.

    vitamins ?!

Hi, I was given a list by my Dr and this is what I was told. BTW I get all my vitamins at Costco. It's just cheaper and you get a lot more. Calcium Citrate w/500 mg of calcium. Women's one a day multivitamin. B-12 2500mcg sublingual and I chose to take hair/skin/nails (5000mcg of Biotin),. I make sure I taken them with my protein shake or food.I will get sick if I don't.
  22. I was put on a six month pre op diet but, I was told to just maintain my current weight and start by drinking protein shakes for breakfast (which works out really well), now I need to work myself up to lunch shakes also!!! I am dreading the liquid diet but, I guess I will find out if I need to actually do it when I get closer.

    Hi, I'm new!

Hi, I'm new here too. I am still going through the six month approval. I am hoping to be approved by December. Like you I have been looking through different chats as well. Just trying to see all the different opinions. Good luck to you!

    I am embarrassed

I am still going through all the pre-op (I have a six month WLS waiting period). I have chosen to tell NO-one until I am approved. Even at that point I will only tell my Son and Mother. It's nobody's business but mine.
