I was just drinking 100% whey (vanilla) but now I have switched to ON hydro platinum whey. It's better with milk than Water.

    Tummy tuck today!

The first thing I thought when I saw that picture was 1) glad your are resting comfortabley. 2) It must have been extremely uncomfortable for you to have the extra skin. I hope nothing but good days lay ahead for the new you.
  5. FitnFabfor2014

    Is it real yet?

I have two more months of weigh-in's before my doctor will submit for approval. I'm hoping for December. Good luck to you!!!

    December Sleevers?

Yes, welcome welcome!! That must be some details sleep study. Does your insurance have a waiting period? I'm in California, I've got to wait 6 months. Getting my Protein in 2x's a day is HARD and I don't really eat lunch so you would think it would be easy for me. I always forget to drink it!!!!
  7. No not at all. Most insurance companies send you the requirements for bariatric surgery. A check list of sorts. They also give you the time line. In my case (Health Net) requires a 6 month check in period. During that time you have to do various requirements. I would start there. Then you'll have a better understanding of what to do next. Just ask them if they cover bariatric surgery and ask if they can send you the guidelines or requirements. And whatever you do don't miss a month of weigh in's. If you do you have to start from the beginning.

    What to tell work?

Yep exactly right! And if they require a note you're doctor can make something as vague as possible. They know the routine. Your job can't question or probe it.
  9. Have you confirmed that your insurance will cover the surgery and how much you will have to pay out of pocket?

    Dramatic post.

That is dramatic!! Why the move?

    December Sleevers?

OMG! I never take pain medication...not even Advil for a headache so I'm just "assuming" I will be good with whatever is prescribed. Oh gawsh two weeks of pain. I think I would shoot myself in the foot, just so the pain can be directed elsewhere. Good luck with your approvals. It would be nice to know the Dr.'s are actually on our side...instead of it being for the almighty $$$. December buddies yeah!!!

    NSV Ive been waiting for

That is great news! I was actually planning on doing the same thing. How much or how many sizes have you lost to where you can't take in anymore?

    December Sleevers?

You're doing self pay? Is your insurance is paying for the upper GI and EKG's? I am hoping since I am scheduling after the holiday I will be done with all the holiday food hoopla. I can manage a night in for new years eve. Good luck with your recovery. Hopefully this one will be a little easier for you. I have never had a surgery so I don't know how my recovery will be. I bounced back after the birth of my son. I was walking around everywhere three days out. Hoping for the same. We can be December sleeve buddies!!!

    being negitive

I only have two more weigh in's for my 6 month requirement and I am like you. I don't want to be disappointed when they submit for insurance approval. I am already drinking the shakes (2x's a day) and taking the vitamins. That is also the reason why I have not told anyone about the surgery.I am hoping that I will have an approval in December.

    Frustrated-

Hi I have not been sleeved yet and I am hoping that will happen soon. I appreciate your honesty. I see a lot of posts about post surgery but, none of them really tell me what the struggles of actually functioning and eating are. Is your biggest struggle that you have no interest in food at all and you can't even drink your protein shakes?
  16. FitnFabfor2014

I'm so excited but still seems so far away

I am working on taking my protein shakes 2x's a day. It's hard!
  17. That was actually one of the things they told me during my health and nutrition class.

    It's the little things......

That must have felt amazing!!! I can not wait. I hope my insurance approves this!

    At Disney... And miserable

Don't feel bad. I took my son to an amusement park and I couldn't fit on the ride...i had to get off. Take about embarrassing and miserable. We are planning a trip to Disney World in 2015. I am hoping to be so much slimmer by then. Hopefully you can just make the best of it and make plans to return when ur healthy and fabulous!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using VST
  20. Hi, at my appointment the surgeon went over my weight, BMI and we discussed the difference between the sleeve and bypass. It was pretty quick. His office staff then set up the psyc visits, nutritional class, dietian appnts, upper GI, lab appnts, endoscopy and weigh in's. Depending on ur insurance it could be a few months to a year. I have to wait 6 months . It's fine though. It gives me time to make sure I get the Protein shakes I like and start eating healthier. How long do you have to wait? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using VST
  21. FitnFabfor2014

    Oh no! I don't qualify

Yes, what is your BMI now? That is my biggest concern, is that I will be denied because of my BMI. I have Health Net (California). My BMI is right at 40.5, and my weight fluctuates so much. They went back to last year? Did you have a waiting period? I have to do 6 months of monitored weight management.

    It's the little things......

I never thought about the car seat. That's a good point. Well I guess the question is do you like your face slimmer? I'm sure you look great!!

    vitamins ?!

No problem. I started taking my Vitamins in June. I take Natures Bounty hair, skin and nails. On the bottle is says take two capsules a day but, I only take one because they give me loose stools (sorry, I know TMI) and, I am running for my life to the bathroom, lol. There is a liquid form of Biotin. I don't know if that would be better for you. They sell them on Amazon.com, I have never checked for them at costco. How are you feeling after your surgery? I hope everything went well.

I'm so excited but still seems so far away

Hello Everyone, I am hoping for a December surgery. All I have left are 3 more weigh in's, then it's up to my insurance for approval. I am really hoping that this comes through. My Dr. told me to come into the office after my November weigh in and speak with the scheduler to book it. I am ready for the change!!!! Good luck everyone here is to a fabulous new 2014 for us!
