Gentlemen... Please advise me! Re: Cheating

Hi just wondering how things are going for you?

    Frustrated-

  3. I knew I was lactose intolerant but, for the last 3 months I have been doing surprisingly well. Up until this week. It hit me like a Mac truck! I will be trying alternative ways. I am going to read through it blog. Thanks again.
  4. THANK YOU! I have been trying to figure out why all of a sudden I have been feeling so sick. The same symptoms you are mentioning about including headaches. I have not been sleeved yet, but I have been trying to take my shakes like a good girl too, twice a day.

    Getting Pretty Irritated With Myself

Do they allow you to order protein shakes and have them delivered? Sorry if that is a stupid question, I don't know the protocol. Do they have salad' s or veggie dishes you can eat? Maybe even cutting up chicken or fish and adding that to a salad? I know when your tired from working all day and night eating healthy is harder to concentrate on.

Between a rock and a hard place

Hi, I feel so bad for your sitter. I am sure on top of her worrying about her sick sister she probably feels guilty leaving you without day care. My suggestion would be to find another day care provider (at least temporarily). When her sister does pass, she is going to plan the funeral and need time to grieve. You will still need someone to care for your daughter and it should be someone you are comfortable with, not someone who you just met and only have a few days to get to know. Leaving your child with anyone is extremely scary and uncomfortable. You don't want to go into surgery worrying about your little one. I have been there (scrambling for child care) believe me I know how you are feeling. Maybe your sitter can refer you to someone she trusts? I would start looking for someone now and, be open with your sitter and let her know you are only doing this because you want to leave her options open so she can be there for her sister and not worry about anything else. Everything will work out. Right now it just seems like everything is hitting you at once. Good luck and please keep us updated on the outcome.

    Finally Sleeved!

Congratulations on the outcome. Glad you are not in a lot of pain. Hope you have a restful rest of your stay in the hospital.

    December Sleevers?

Welcome to December!! I always look forward to the holidays. Even more so this year!

    Back to Work?

You may want to wait and see how you feel after surgery before you commit to returning to work so soon. Some people stay in the hospital for 1 day some much longer. You don't want to disappoint yourself if your body is not ready. Good luck with your surgery. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you.

    Protein before surgery

You guys are lucky! I had to start my protein shakes the 1st month into my 6th month requirement. So far I have not found one that I "love" but, I have found a few that I will tolerate. They are not kidding when they say don't go out and buy the 5lb tub because, boy do you need to flip flop depending on what you want to drink for the day . I am drinking them 2x's a day. My nutritionist said if I do 2 a day she won't put me on the liquid diet prior to surgery. I figured it was a great deal, I'll take it.
  11. You have been in the hospital since the 1st? Did you have complications? Glad you are doing well now.

Day 3 Liquids...may eat my arm

Sorry, I had to laugh out loud at that comment. I am on Protein shakes 2x's a day (breakfast and lunch) and I am going insane. I have to give you your "props". I have been walking past all this junk sitting here in the office and wanting to fling it at someone's FACE !! You can do it!!!
  13. You're welcome. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I am hoping to be sleeved in December. We can be sleeve buddies, if you decide to go through with it. If your sleeved in Jan/Feb at least I can help you with any questions/concerns.
  14. Good luck with your approval! Hopefully you will hear soon. That was one of my concerns. I was on the phone with the doctors office confirming if that could be a reason why I would be denied....uhg!!!
  15. Ah ok, got ya. At least the 3 month required weight management program will give you some time to decide. . Are you still leaning towards the band? What dis-sways you from the sleeve? Is it that a part of your stomach removed and the slow weight loss only? When I went to my weight loss seminar they had all three up as an option (sleeve, bypass, and band) and they showed the pros and cons of each. Have they done that at your doctor’s office? The thing I enjoyed most from my doctor's seminar was that they let you choose the surgery option you felt the most comfortable with (unless the patient had health problems that prevented a certain surgery). I originally chose the band too but ultimately decided on the sleeve.
  16. This is just a question...no judgment. Why did you stop going to the meetings and checkins? If you thought you were going to go through with the band couldn't you have all the previous Dr's notes, checkin's and lab work transferred to the new doctor and then you wouldn't have to start over? I agree with the above posts. Nobody can tell you what to do or decide for you. Maybe you should visit the band-to-sleeve forum on this site. There are a lot of people that had the band and loved it but, had to have it removed (for whatever reasons) and chose the sleeve. It's a huge step but when it comes down to it what are our options? We have all done the yoyo diets and struggled with weight loss. It's not like we are trying to take the easy way out. I am sure others can contest this is a difficult surgery not only mentally but physically but, the results are worth it. Either way you decide to go I hope that it's a decision that makes YOU happy in the long run. Good luck with your choice!

    Oh, do please shut up!

I agree with you Madam Reverie. The, "I have lost 26lbs in a month and the scale has not moved in 2 weeks" posts are like nails on a chalkboard for me. I personally do not own a scale or plan on buying one. I will base my comfort on the way my clothes fit and my overall happiness. I cannot live my life weighing in every day. Misery does not love company in my house! peace out!

what should I get before surgery?

Ooh! Got us, I apologize. I am pre-sleeved, so I don't know from experience but, I have read that most people stock up on broth, sugar free Jello, and Protein (if you can stomach it). I have already begun drinking my Protein Shakes some are definitely better than others. Oh n make sure you have it pain meds filled.

    December Sleevers?

Good luck! Crossing my fingers for you.
  21. Hi, I've read so many great posts about weight loss after the sleeve. I am wondering what has been the small thing or things that have changed since your surgery? Like having to buy smaller shoes, spend less on groceries, more on gas because you go out more. I haven't had my surgery yet I am just wondering what those "little" surprises are that maybe I can look forward to. Thank you.
  22. It depends on what your six month requirement is. I know my surgery doctor visit counted into my 6 month requirement, my primary care appointment did not (maybe because it wasn't through the surgery clinic). You raise a good question there though, maybe I should ask and it will take off another month .
  23. Hi. Before I even went to a weight loss seminar (with my doctor), I contacted my insurance company to confirm gastric surgery was covered. The insurance company sent me an information packet on what I needed to do (physicals, pap smear, weigh in's etc.). I was assigned an insurance coordinator through my insurance company and I have a coordinator through my doctors office. Apparently the doctor's office that I going through know's everything that has to be done, so my insurance coordinator has asked me to refer all my questions to the doctor's coordinator (strange I know). I have contacted my insurance to verify my only co-pay is the hospital stay. That is it, the insurance will cover the rest and my doctor's office coordinator answers all my questions. If the clinic is good at what they are doing you will not need to fight with your insurance company. My insurance told me that the doctors office would not even let me get this far if I wasn't a candidate. I am hoping for a December surgery. I am soooo keeping my fingers crossed! Good luck to you!!!
