    belly pictures.

Hi, I have attached two pictures. I am currently 3 weeks post op. The round scar isn't healing as fast as the other four. I started using coco butter for scars and stretch marks. It has worked really well so far (5 days). This one round scar is going to take a bit longer. The longer scar (below my belly button) was itchy and red for a bit, but now it's healing and fading. The other scars are also fading.
  2. Hi, Yes, my doctor also told me to concentrate on staying hydrated. I was concerned about getting Protein in at first , but my doctor said just worry about not getting dehydrated. I worked the protein in slowly. Everyone has a different experience, some people are able to drink with no problem, others (like me) struggled. What has been interesting is reading on here about doctors different food stages and how their patient's can progress to them. Good luck with your surgery! You're almost to "the other side" lol.

    Tired of Liquids

Hi, I am three weeks post op. This week I was vomiting on anything that was not a liquid (even apple sauce). My doctor said that my stomach was just not ready to move to the next stage (I was on a pureed diet). So now I got moved BACK to liquids for a week and then I can try pureeds for another week. If at my next appointment (the 12th) I am able to slowly progress to soft foods they will let me. If I can't I may have to have another Endoscopy. This is not good. I can't stand the taste of broth, they make me sick just thinking of them. And forget yogurt. I tossed them all. My head and my stomach are sick of them. I'm just stuck with Protein shakes, and if I can get them, in smoothies. My head sure is ready for soft food. My stomach is not!!!

    1 Week Post op

Amanda we have something in common I am three weeks out too. I just left my doctor because I was vomiting for the last three days and I was put back on liquids too. Liquids for one week, then she said I could try pureed the following week. Then based on my next appointment if I am better (on the 12th) I can move to soft foods slowly. She gave me a prescription for nausea. If that doesn’t help I may have to go in for another Endoscopy. I hope you feel better soon. I feel your pain .

    1 Week Post op

I am eating whatever I want. By that I mean healthy. I was on clears for one week and then moved to regular food. I had tune for lunch and chilli for dinner. My doctor feels you will know what you can handle. His feeling is "God gave you teeth for a reason." Today for breakfast I had a slice of ham, for lunch I will finish the tune from yesterday and for dinner I will be having taco flavored chicken. Congratulations! You are LUCKY, I'm still on pureed foods. Hopefully only until next week. What I wouldn't give to be able to chew a meal. I guess it doesn't matter since I haven't been able to tolerate anything but liquids this week. Yummmm, taco flavored chicken .

    beyond furious with Humana

My jaw dropped when I saw that total! Did you speak to them prior to the surgery about what your out of pocket expense would be? Now they know why people go crazy. These insurance companies mess with our sanity!!! OMG I hope that you received that in error!!!
  9. I took whey Protein before surgery (lost 15 lbs while drinking it twice a day) and I drink it every morning now. I'm 20lbs down since surgery three weeks ago. It works great for my protein intake.

    Surviving when life sucks

I am sending you prayers, hugs and good vibrations. I lost the love of my life 2 years ago in March. I find it hard to breathe at times, but I feel so happy looking back at our good times. My heart goes out to you. Like you said, you will be ok in time. Just remember there is no time limit on grieving. Some people don't understand and will expect that you "move on". Just keep the positive people close and the negative people away. It's all about how you want to grieve. I pray you find happy memories at your saddest moments.
  11. There should be a dislike button. Sorry you have to go through all of that because of our lovely health care system.

    My 600 pound life

I watched both Penny and Chuck/Nissa last night. I felt so bad for Chuck. I'm glad that he is successful. He had me worried for a bit. Now Penny......that's just a whole "nother" issue. Has anyone read up or heard how she is doing now? I was just floored at how she could put all that food (and fried at that) in her body. I think my sleeve tensed up watching it. I was thinking of having a snack, but while I was watching that I seriously changed my mind. Water it was.

    Something is wrong you guys!

I can relate to you. I am only 3 weeks post op, and I can't eat anything this week, just liquids. Everything (not liquids) that I eat I run to the bathroom and throw it up. I am so sick of these liquids, but I have no choice. I can't keep anything else down. So, I am stuck with Water and Protein shakes uhg. The thought of them make me cringe. No bueno . I know when I go to my appointment next week the doctor is going to keep me on liquids. Oh how I would love to have something that I can chew. Darn this sleeve! On the plus side I am down a size and a half . Good luck to you. I hope everything works out for you soon!

    Just beginning.....

Hi pinkbarbie, Welcome to the forum. Yes, I absolutely agree with the above post. Everyone is different. I was in the hospital for 2 days also. They gave me wonderful pain meds in the hospital, ahhhhhh. I had a lot of pain when I went home because I had a drain (popped percocet's religiously). I was miserable (lots of pain). After the drain was out, I was good to go. I didn't need any pain meds, I was just very tired also, and a little sore, but nothing major. I took 3 weeks off work (just to be sure). This is my first week back to work and it's actually going very well. No pain at all. Cheers to you and a successful (pain free) recovery .
  15. I had so much anxiety waiting for the approval. It took exactly one week (Friday to Friday) and I was pulling my hair out everyhour of every day! I think I lost most of my weight waiting on the darn approval!
  16. Hi, I was advised by my doctor to take sucralfate three times a day. I have been following as best as a I can. It's like fitting a piece Into a jigsaw puzzle. Take 1 tablet before meals (on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2-3 hours after a meal). I was just wondering if anyone else is taking this (if It's pretty standard) or not? I'm not questioning my doctor, and I will continue to take it, but I was just wondering how it's working for others who may be taking it (or did take it) as well. Thanks!!

What's your favorite go to snacks?

Anyone have any snack ideas also for someone who is 3 weeks out (still on pureed) too? I am so done with yogurts, applesauce and Protein shakes . I can't wait until I am able to snack on those things when I'm 6 months out.

    No drain tube after VSG?

Even though she is not getting a drain it would probably best to state that YOU did not have pain. Some people are not that LUCKY. Everyone is different. I'm just saying.

600lb life Chuck and Nissa Story

Dang it spoil alert! Haha I'm still watching Penny and her enabling husband. Chuck is next!

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

Are you still on it? I was told I only needed to take it for a month. I know it's preventative, but I didn't have acid reflux or heartburn prior to surgery. I definitely don't want it now.
  21. FitnFabfor2014

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

I cut them in half and toss them back with a glass of Water. I will throw up if I even feel anything mushy in my mouth. That is one of the obstacles with the pureed stage. ICK! And YES they are HUGE horse pills! Haha
  22. FitnFabfor2014

    Anyone taking Sucralfate?

The way it was explained to me is the medication serves as protective barrier that helps, prevent further damage from acid in your stomach. It helps prevent heartburn etc while your stomach is still healing.

    No drain tube after VSG?

Im glad yours didnt hurt but mine cause contant discomfort and hurt like hell when removed. So please be acurate, didn't hurt you. Agreed! I thought I was having organs removed at the same time they pulled out my drain!!!

    No drain tube after VSG?

OMG! I had the same experience. I had mine in for a week, and while everyone was saying they had no pain when they had their drain in, I was in serious pain because of the drain. It actually filled up during the night! I was in so much pain that two percocet couldn't cure it. I waited until my doctors office opened and they removed it. Whoever says that thing doesn't hurt when it's removed must be on some serious sh#$! I almost jumped out of my skin when the doctor pulled it out. I know I screamed, good thing the waiting room was empty. I'm pretty sure people would have run off!

    No drain tube after VSG?

Hi, I had a drain in the hospital, and a week after I was discharged from the hospital. I was miserable. When my insurance case manager called to check on me (a few days after I had the tube removed). I told him about the pain I was in when I had the drain, and how I felt 80% better with it out. His response was "when I saw you in the hospital I was not aware you even had a drain". Oooook. I asked him to check into why some surgeons decide to have the drain and others don't. He said he would follow up for me. Personally I sure would have preferred to not have that bulb hanging from my side for a week . Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
