Part of me wants something to drink besides water sometimes the part of me says stay away from the soda I don't need it.
-
Has anyone tried to drink soda since being sleeved I would love to have a diet pepsi but don't want to "blow my self up" either.

I've told most people that are important to me, family & close friends. They are a great support group for me & I'm a motivation for some of them that are trying to lose weight. I think you have to do what you want to do, it's personal. I will turn 64 in August and was sleeve 12/13/13. I've not felt this good or strong in, lord, don't remember when! I've lost 65 # and workout at least an hour everyday. My diabetes is practically nonexistent & my knee feels a lot better. My only regret? I didn't do this many years ago! I wish you all the best in this endeavor.

I'm 63 years young & was sleeved 12/13/13. My only regret is that I didn't have this done 30 years ago, other than that no regrets. I've lost 55 # & feel better than I've felt in a very long time. I'm diabetic and my blood sugars have all been running normal, even after a meal. My arthritis is better & I have much more energy. I work out at least 1 hour per day & follow my diet well. My surgeon said that she couldn't promise (at my age) that I couldn't get below 175 or reduce my diabetes med to 1 pill/day unless I exercise an hour a day so I'm out to prove her wrong - I"ll do better than that. My weight loss is starting to slow down but as long as I keep with my present plan I'll still lose weight (maybe slower) but I'll also stay healthier.

Welcome aboard! I just had surgery this last Friday & am doing very well.
-
Surgery is finally set for 12/13/13!!! Never been so excited to have a surgery. At least I will get to eat Thanksgiving before I start pre-surgery diet.
-
You are just the inspiration I needed for this. I am 63, 5'3", weight 250# and non insulin dependent diabetic. I was so hoping to hear from someone like you that lost more than my MD expects. I'm still waiting on insurance approval then will have surgery probably before Thanksgiving. Thanks again for your good news & keep up with the great work.

Good luck on your surgery. Still waiting to get insurance approval, they think my surgery will be sometime before Thanksgiving.

Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it. My last A1C was 8 so I'm really anxious to get my surgery. It's nice to know what you said going into this. Thanks!

Hi everyone. Glad to find a bunch of people my age. I'm 63, just faxed my paperwork to my MD & am waiting for Ins. approval. What I'm wondering my gastro MD said I probably only lose 80#, need to lose about 120# and she couldn't cure my diabetes mainly because of my age and because I have been diabetic for 10 years. Is she about right? Have you all had these issues? My other question is: I am expecting this excess skin to hang but is it also the case around my face? These are issues I can ask this youngsters, hope you all can help! Thanks!

That's wonderful. My doctor told me she could probably get me down to 1 pill a day, right now I'm at 1000 mg 2X day. It's because I've been diabetic for over 10 years. But I can live with that, literally. -

Hi everyone I'm ljoynes, hope to see you all there. -
I've been taking the biotin about 1-1/2 mos now but haven't seen a change (not having srg til 11/13) but from what I am seeing I'm not taking near enough. I was just trying to make my hair a little thicker because it's so fine. I'm not really afraid of losing hair - already been there done that with breast ca so you never have a bad day - just wear temp tattoos on your scalp!

I don't have an exact date set either but we think mine will be in November as well. Very excited to do this but have a few fears - like if I succeed or fail. Been on so many weight loss programs in the past & have failed .... I am also trying to slow down on eating & working on portion control. My biggest problem right now is I am a Dt Mtn Dew junky & am trying to break away from the habit. I've been trying to drop a bottle each week & I have reached the week without any - can't figure out how to wake up in the morning!!!!! -
I think what is considered "Not medically necessary" which is what Program Fees are is not going to be billed to insurance for that reason - it's not medically necessary so it's not going to be applied to your insurance deductible or coinsurance (out of pocket) either. That is why it is billed as a program fee or administrative fee whatever you want to call it.

Thanks for your help!! -
My doctor's office charges $200.00 when you make the appt for the surgery. That fee is to cover support groups, dietary & exercise support, etc for life - the stuff that insurance doesn't cover.

You might try: www.blackberrypatch.com I'm diabetic, I am now - haven't had surgery yet but their syrups are fantastic, a little expensive but well worth the cost.
