Wow! What just happened to my stomache?!
Italiancurves posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm almost 2 years post op and I went to reach in backseat to give something to child and when I turned back around I felt like someone had grabbed my stomache and ripped it out. Same thing happened the two times I've fried doing ab crunches. Is something wrong? Anyone experience this? Will I never do sit ups again?! -
Post op antacids/ acid reflux reducer?
Italiancurves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only seeing Prilosec OTC in pill form in the store. Do they make something chewable beside those nasty chalky tums? What did you take? -
Did your arthritus improve after being sleeved/ losing weight?
Italiancurves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Or did it stay about the same? What do you take for your arthritus post op? Joint juice? Seems expensive though. Is there an economical way to go? -
hey there, I'm here at the hospital, getting my vitals. Everything is good so far. Clean and courteous. The Marriott is very nice, impeccable service! Will keep u posted :-)

How soon after surgery did you resume taking vitamins?

Wanted to share this MANTRA with my sleeve family
Italiancurves posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
A very successful, wise business associate of mine once shared this Mantra with me. A. M. P. AUTONOMY... The desire to direct our own lives. MASTERY...The desire to get better and better at something that matters. PURPOSE...start doing the things that we know work. Stop doing the things we know do not work. AMP up your life. I just recently came across this in some notes from the meeting where he shared this. Found it to be refreshingly appropriate for this special journey we find ourselves on at this point in our lives. Now if only there were some words on PATIENCE... 46 days Til surgery. Can't I just fast forward to Nov. 1st ? ;-p -
When did you stop cleaning your inscisions and just let them air out and heal naturally?
Italiancurves posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like there are two inscisions that I can see are going to take more time than the other three which already look good to go (3 days post op). How long did YOU treat your inscisions??? -

Need protein shakes ideas
Italiancurves replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! Shots in ISOPURE. That would yield 82 grams of protein in about 24 oz of liquid. I just can't imagine how that tastes but dang that's a great way to double down and git r done on protein! I might try that sometime. -
Need protein shakes ideas
Italiancurves replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can stop them once your able to get enough protein from solid food but it's always good to have some on hand for emergency days when u just don't have time or access to adequate nutrition. I love my shakes. Will probably always keep them on my menu. -
Need protein shakes ideas
Italiancurves replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ISOPURE liquid protein (40 grams per 20 oz bottle) New whey protein shots (42 grams per 4 oz vial) best watered down IMO Shakes: Body fortress (Walmart) chocolate/vanilla / strawberry Syntrex Nectar (on line) cookies and cream/ fuzzy navel/ many flavors Unjury protein (on line) most popular is the unflavored powder that you can add to Anything! Ie: turn butternut squash soup into a protein packed meal. They also carry protein hot cocoa and chicken broth. My very favorite protein shake is to take 1 cup of fat free double protein milk (by Lucerne/ Safeway grocery store) Add I scoop of vanilla protein powder 5 ice cubes And anything I'm in the mood for: Pumpkin pie: I always freeze things into ice cube trays so I take 1 cube at a time 1 cube of pumpkin purée 1 tsp SF maple syrup Sprinkle cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger BANANA NUT: Omit Ice cubes add 1/2 banana (I freeze in slices) And a few walnuts Dash of vanilla or banana extract Reece's PEANUT BUTTER CUP 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 2 tbsp smooth peanut butter (all natural) I grind my own nut butters PIÑA COLADA SMOOTHIE: 1 scoop vanilla Pwdr 1/2 cup frozen pineapple Substitute 1/2 of the milk for coconut milk Add an umbrella parasol... Go sit out in the sunshine... Soak up the vitamin D... Enjoy your mini island retreat. APPLE PIE A LA MODE 1/2 cup stewed apples in cinnamon nutmeg or applesauce add nutmeg (frozen) The list is endless... Whatever you're in the mood for you can turn into a protein shake. And if it's something savory... Go with unjurys unflavored protein to create that savory dish. You can order a sample pack for $21 from them. Bon appetite! -

Italiancurves replied to Italiancurves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok thanks ladies, I have no glue, and no steri strips, only stitches that will dissolve. I was told to wash daily with soap and water, then use peroxide. I do have one that is looking a little oozy. Using neosporine. Have a bad rash all over my stomache, probably from the adhesive tape :-( -

Mexico Hospitals
Italiancurves replied to StawberryBlond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just had my VSG 3 days ago at MI DOCTOR HOSPITAL. My coordinator just called me to see how everything went. When I commented that I was surprised that the hospital was actually a clinic. She said, no, according to Mexican standards, it is a hospital. (It has a blood bank/ can preform transfusions) so it's a hospital. My point is... Our interpretation of HOSPITAL and theirs are different. -

Italiancurves replied to waternazi's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The driver was great. The Marriott was great. My Dr. Valenzuela saw me for 60 seconds before surgery, preformed VSG, never saw her again. Mi doctor Hospital was not the greatest. Three times my bag went empty at night long enough to drain blood up the tubing, nurses blew my vein (baseball size lump on my hand) night nurses spoke no English. I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel ! I'm still here at the Mariott. Sipping and walking...looking forward to leaving for California in the morning! -

Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
Italiancurves posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow starts day three of my 14 day pre-op diet. I will admit, I was rather nervous about it. My main concern was not having enough energy to get through my rather physical work day. I'm here to say... It's really not that hard. Everyone's pre op diet seems to be slightly different. Mine is 11 days of 900 cals (3 Protein shakes+ 1/2 cup lean chicken, fish or 1 egg/ 3 cups lettuce and a few sprays of fat free dressing) Days 12-14 are strictly clear liquid. I thought it would be nice to start a thread where ppl can post some good survival techniques to help those who are going to be doing their pre op diets and are nervous. Things that have helped you get through easier. Here's my list... Pls feel free to add your ideas as well. Lord knows I will probably need some of them as the days go on! 1. I pre pack exactly what I need to consume throughout that day (including 90 oz water) in my ice chest. If it's not in my ice chest, it does not go in my mouth! (Aside from the Vitamins which I need to discontinue taking 7 days before surgery) 2. When driving down the road...only look straight ahead...turning your head side to side means you'll be bombarded with all the evil food signs. And I personally think they posted a few extra food ads and restraunts since I started this diet two days ago! They are EVERYWHERE! 3. If your favorite TV channel is the Food Network, like mine... Find a new favorite! I'm watching "Lock Up Raw" tonight... The food they feature on this program is certainly not making me hungry! 4.once you've finished all the food/drink you can have for the day, if you're still hungry... Add crystal light or Dasani drops or something with flavor that you like to Water bottle and fill up on that! 5. Stay busy! I've been working my a** off to make as much money as possible before I go down for post op recovery. The side benefit is that the day is over before I know it! I plan on staying super active Til they wheel me to O.R. Well that's all I have so far, might think of some more tips and hopefully others will too. 2 down, 12 days to go! We got this Best wishes everyone... -
November buddies where are you?

Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet

Day 14 down. Laying in bed at the Hospital in Tiajuana Mx. 2 hours Til surgery. Who knew how good chicken broth could taste. I had three cups last night, and it was the most incredible thing ever. (True sign that you're starving) lol If I survived the pre op diet... So can you!!! -

I'm here at Mi Doctor right now. 2 hours Til surgery. Will be gone/ back to hotel by the time you get here. I will say...BRING EYE MASK . The blinds are too small for the window so it's very bright in the room! Wearing my sunglasses now. There is soap, shampoo, washcloths, towels, nice size shower, private room/ bathroom. Everyone is very nice.
