Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet

Agreed, self sabbotage is such a prevelent, counter productive demon. No more of that for me, ever! Done. -
Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
Italiancurves replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, great additions you guys! Lots of great advice and tips. I was already looking for some variety today on my third day so I added a pkg of mango peach crystal light to my vanilla Protein shake, blended with some ice. MAN that was GOOD! -
Survival skills for the 14 day pre-op diet
Italiancurves replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and another perk/benefit to the pre-op diet... Is the weight loss! Nothing like jump starting your slimming process! And anything I can do to lower the risk factor and make the surgery less complicated for my doc the better. (Shrink that liver!) -
Awesome! Congrats in advance :-) I will be just getting into puréed foods, 19 days post op when you're getting sleeved. November cannot come soon enough!

Dr. Almanza
Italiancurves replied to harleychic1383837815's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
When I first started researching the sleeve and medical tourism ... I kept seeing Dr Almanzas name and all his happy patients. I'm sure you're in good hands! I just couldn't do the strip mall thing so I researched further and am going with a doc that operates at a real hospital. But honestly... Jerusalem Hospital does not have a bad rep. In fact there was only one Operating facility that I found to have bad reports and that was Nova Hospital. The comments were that it really was not suited for Medical Tourism. (I'm sure some ppl have had good experiences there, but many had not). You'll be fine. He's super experienced!!!! -
I was looking at that same doctor and procedure but decided on his colleague dr Valenzuela with the traditional 5 incisions based on cost and I figured it was less practiced than the traditional procedure. And couldn't help but wonder why so few docs do that procedure. I dunno... I also know that the little incisions from my robotic hysterectomy all the same size as these ones will be, have all healed and become basiclly invisible within a year. But if you're going with single incision with that Doc, he does have an excellent reputation. Good luck...

Celebrate multi-vitamins
Italiancurves replied to tell9rc's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Actually, according to my primary care physician... Spacing your vitamins out is best. Your body can only absorb so much at a time. Calcium must be spaced out for instance and cannot be taken with iron. Looking forward to trying my sample pack of celebrate after my surgery in two weeks. They look great! -

Ok so there aren't any calorie guidelines during that time. I just want to be able to keep my energy up (working a physical job). -
Best surgeon in Mexico for a reasonable price? Ignore my previous post, i hit post too early
Italiancurves replied to Jenny12's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Love hearing all the positives about these Mexico Bariatrics experiences! I feel sorry for people who will forgoe having this surgery in Mexico because of pre conceived notions based on fear or being closed minded. THE MIND, IS LIKE A PARACHUTE.... IT ONLY FUNCTIONS WHEN IT'S OPEN! 13 days Til I drive to Mexico and change my life forever! Woo hoo! -

Anybody GAIN weight b4 surgery?
Italiancurves replied to CupofJojo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like self sabbotage based on fear of the unknown. I haven't GAINED pre op, but I've only lost 11 lbs in 90 days since I was approved. Since I'm self pay/ Mexico, it's not mandatory that I lose weight pre op. so I've not been 100% dieting 100% of the time. It's all in the mind... U have to gain control if u really want this. Today started my 14 day pre op diet and I will absolutely not be cheating at all what so ever. It's game on now. We've waited all our lives to be free from this unwanted, unhealthy body fat... Lets do this for ourselves! We deserve it!!! Good luck! -

Did you have adequate vitamin and nutrition counseling in Mexico?
Italiancurves posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm 20 days pre op ...hoping there will be some good nutritional and vitamin counceling in Mex but so far my pre op paperwork just says children's chewables, calcium and iron. That's the extent of the details. I've looked at so many posts about what people are taking post op and I've come to the conclusion that No two sleevers are taking the same supplements. So I'm uncertain... How much of what is good or too much etc. what are YOU taking post op and how often do u get labwork done and is everything looking good for you? -
Can protein drinks be made ahead for the day?
Italiancurves replied to AtlantaRed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They can become a very strange consistency if mixed too far in advance. I just pre measure a cup of milk In a jar or shaker and pack a Baggie with a scoop of protein powder, so I can mix when ready to consume it. -

I will have my surgery in two weeks on November 1st through Mexico Bariatric Center ( my coordinator is Christy, love her! She lives here in California and is awesome). My surgeon is Dr. louisianna Valenzuela @ Mi Doctor Hospital Staying at the Marriott Hotel. Total price: $4500 Plus $200 extra because my husband will be staying at the Marrioit while I'm at the hospital. The driver meets us at the border, takes us to Marriott first night. Surgery in the morning, 2 nights at Hospital (which, unlike Jerusalim hospital/ strip mall is a dedicated Bariatrics full service Hospital) then I stay at the hotel for another two nights. Driver takes us through the fast track/ medical lane back to border. Included in price is driver, hotel, hospital, surgery, broth, water juice etc, all pre and post op testing, labs, meds, antibiotics. Shuttle for my husband back and forth from hospital to hotel. Super excited! Starting my 14 day pre op diet tomorrow. Let me know if you want contact info for Christy/ Mexico Bariatric Center. Good luck in your quest. -
