I originally had Aetna when I started my process, they denied my sleep study (had to have a home test) but I do have it after the test, BMI was 36, high blood pressure, Hyper Tension and a constant struggle with knee joint pain after 2 surgeries. Aetna denied me..flat out said I had not been overweight for more than 2 years because in 2011 my BMI dropped to 34.7.. SMDH, I was so upset because they denied me 1 week prior to surgery. I switched insurances and transferred all my records and was approved...it's been a long 10 months of drama but I'm now scheduled for 10/23 and so excited. I'm telling you..whoever thinks this is an easy route,..better think again. It's hard BEFORE the lifestyle change occurs completely. Good Luck though you sound like you won't run into the same drama as I did, and again I'm a fi believer that everything happens for a reason, since my first denial they found a cyst in my belly that is causing a fuss that will also be removed when I get sleeved...I'm so glad because I would have had to have 2 separate surgeries. Well Wishes, K

That's the same day as me.. I was originally going to get the band but my doctor was against it because ppl are having problems. I have a friend who has had the band for over 2 years, she loves it. -
Are there any PRE-Op or POST-Op Sleevers getting or have it done at Hopkins? Which surgeon did you use or are you working with and how was your experience?

I think they only deal with their own patients but I'm not sure. All of us that age spoke to were her patients.

I was with them when I first started this journey But 1 week from Surgery got denied. I really felt like it was the coordinators fault because that same paperwork was transferred to Hopkins and was approved. She didn't take the time to know what the insurance asked of me. I was so disappointed I felt like shrinking into a ball. I loved the Dr. , hospital and staff though...his program is awesome. -

It's been going well..I love them at Hopkins because they are so vigilant about surgery..I just found out today that Dr. Steele requires no preop diet only 24 hours before should I reduce my intake and of of course nothing after midnight the night before. Just can't pig out..have to not gain so I'm thinking I may just to be safe chill out starting Next week and do low to no carbs..I don't want any problems on Surgery day.

Ok...I was so confused. I'm so sorry you guys have suffered with this condition, I'm a woman it it seems that no matter what the procedure or case WE are the ones that have the hardest time. I'm happy you all are doing better. I don't have this condition but I am being sleeved 10/23 and having a double surgery..there's a large cyst in my in belly that has to be removed and so I will have to be cut from below my belly button to my pubic bone to get to the cyst. Then my Bariatric surgeon will follow..it's a long procedure but I trust God that I'm going to be just fine. I will see you guys in the other side. Kind Regards, K

I'm Oct 23rd...exactly 3 weeks away and I'm excited and very nervous...the upside is I was having surgery no matter what to remove a large cyst from behind my intestines so they will already be in there..Lol! IJS why not knock out my health and weight issues at the same time. But no seriously I'm nervous because it's just natural, I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum has experienced it ..but after going through this since January I'm so ready to get it done and move on with my new life. I pray you surgery success and a speedy recovery. Kind Regards, K

Mzmbee I so understand. My mom is the same way. No way I could tell her...EVER. I'm having a cyst removed from my tummy and that's the end of it...Lol! She would have a fit and she's definitely talk me out of it just on guilt alone. My date is 10/23 and I'm so excited!!!
