Just got denial yesterday, after doing 12 months supervised dieting said my bmi is now a 38 so its not so life threating enough to have the surgery it stincks.

I might need to get an lawyer involved.

Well I recieved my second denial today,bummer I have bcbs hmo. Its the hmo dept. making excuses. First said I need to loose weight did that then said because bmi is 39 they wont approve. Get this I have RA high cholestrol pcos I dont know what else I have to do to get approved.

Welcome I'm from Il. also Orland Park area. I havent been banded yet. Going through all the ins requirements and could you believe they are trying to deny me after 12 months supervised diet and nutrition classes.

I haven't been banded yet but hope to in the new year if ins. approve me. I can't get enough of knowledge from these threds. I find myself on here several times a day. Good luck on your journey.

Thanks for the advice Dr. Watkins if I dont get anywhere with my primary dodc I will have to be thinking of going elsewhere, my husband is so mad we pay around 1400.00 a month for that stupid ins. to be denied!!!!! Colleen

Hi again Dr. Watkins, I live in a surburb of Chicago, guess what happened today? I have hmo bcbc of il. I did all the requirements they had me do 12 mths. supervised diet seeinf a dietition, never missed an appt. finished up 12-12 07 . Just today got the denial letter from the hmo dept. they said i didnt loose enough weight in the 12 months. I'm so sad right now. because we can't afford to be a self pay. Now I will have to start fighting with them. I also forgot to mention I broke my tibia Oct.31 lost weight with cast on and they denied me I'm so fustrated at this point.
