There seems not too much activity in. This forum. Is it because there are not many mature sleevers?

I am 68 and will be sleeved on Oct. 22. I have been reading a lot of the forums here and there is a lot of discussion re: loose skin, bat wings, etc. How has this age group done with the skin issue? I definitely know my skin doesn't have as much elasticity.

I am 68 and 3.5 weeks out. I have lost 14 lbs. since my pre op weight. I had a complication so I really feel I am only 2 weeks out. I expect that I may lose a bit slower than the younger folk on the forum. I have not began my exercise program yet because I was just released to drive, etc yesterday. I plan to attend my Silver Sneakers exercise program as they have a one hour chair based exercise and then I will walk on the treadmill for as long as I'm comfortable. Based on my doctor's goal I have 100 lbs to lose. I figure I will do this journey at about 2/3 the pace of the young folk. LOL

Hi fellow sleevers. I am 68 and was sleeved October22. It has been quite a journey. My doctor found a hernia that he repaired then I had a problem with making sure my system was working to move food etc. through my body right, plus some extra bleeding. Stayed in the hospital an extra week. Now I am home and am currently doing pretty good. On a full liquid diet and I am so tired of that. I see my surgeon on Wednesday and prayerfully I hope to move to puréed food. I focus on staying hydrated as this is really important to me. I have began to hate Protein drinks so I think I will do better with powders and soft food. I know in the future I will be happier with this process but right nowI can't be its best cheerleader. I am losing but quite frankly I have only gotten on the scale once. I will wait until I see my doctor and go from there. I hope you are all doing well. I know ultimately this was a right decision!

I am looking for protein bars that do not have chocolate but have a good protein number. I am not a big fan of chocolate, although I can drink the protein drink. I don't enjoy the bars with chocolate.

I had a very successful sleeve. Yesterday . Dr. Price also found a hiatal hernia and repaired it. So far no nausea and the pain is manageable. Had broth and a Popsicle for lunch. I. Walks twice this morning and will get ready to walk some more. Glad tone on the loser's bench! -
Finishing touches and then off to the hospital. Best wishes to my Oct 22 sleeve partners and prayers for all. I report in at 8 and surgery at 10. I hope my doctor is on schedule

Getting sleeved Oct 22nd and have some concerns.

I am not concerned about that. I am scheduled for the 22nd at 10:00. My surgeon and NUT both emphasize that some foods might not taste the same but actually the bottom line is the sleeve can't stop us from eating most of what we love but is a tool to keep us from eating as much. -

Final meeting with surgeon today. All set for Tuesday. Have to begin Lovanox shots tomorrow. Clear liquids Monday. He stress not to get dehydrated before surgery. -
But you will get there. I absolutely do not want to regain the weight again, which is what happened in the past. We are at an age to appreciate and celebrate every pound we lose.
-
The powders I have tried said not to add to liquids over 130 degrees.
-
I am glad in a way that you shared about losing slow. I am 68 and will be sleeved on Tuesday. I expect to not lose extremely fast so I won't get discouraged.

I will know on Friday about when to stop. I just hope the lovanox shots are not longer than 3-4 days post op.
