Peaches... that's amazing! 15 lbs in two weeks. So your first solids... I'm glad it tasted so good. I'm anxiously awaiting my day on Thurs.

I found out last week that I get to go to a conference in Palm Springs in October. I can't wait. I went to this conference last year, but it was in Toronto, just up the road from me. I had a ball. I've been trying to arrange for babysitting for the kids while I'm gone so that I can bring my DH with me. We haven't had a vacation together without the kids since 1997. And we've never been to Palm Springs. A friend of mine who has a daughter in my son's class has agreed to take my son for the week. And my sister is considering taking my daughter for the week. If she confirms than its a go!!! I love my sister dearly, but she is so judgemental of me. She didn't agree with our decision to adopt. She thought it would over tax our marriage. Of course she never said that to us, I just overheard her saying it to her husband when she didn't know I was around. She also disagreed with my choice of husband... again I found out through another source. She would never tell me this. But her actions do tell me these things. So getting close to her has been difficult. But she adores my kids (including my adopted daughter), and is probably the only person equipped to manage her for the week. She's a nurse and is very patient and loving. The rest of my family and friends would be good with her for a day or so, but would not last the week. So when I asked her today, her first reaction was "no I don't think so", but by the end of the conversation she said "well, maybe we can. Can I let you know in a week". I'm really hoping she will. I haven't told my hubby yet about this trip. I wanted to surprise him with it if it turns out. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Hi Jeanie & Sunny. Don't leave now that I just found time to login. I hate housework too. My DH does most of it, but I still have to chip in once in awhile. He teases me that he's the wife and I'm the husband. But since he works part time and I'm the career person, it works for us. He's a Porter at the hospital and it take centuries for them to get full time positions. Its mostly based on senority, not skill or work ethic. So he works 6 shifts per 2 week pay period, and then is on call 24/7. This gives him lots of time with the kids and around the house. I hate the really hot weather... I'd call it "hell" too if I lived where you are Sunny. I love the spring and fall, a bit of summer and hate the cold of winter. I would love it if we had 3 months of spring, 2 weeks of summer, 8 months of fall and 2 weeks of winter (over xmas). That would be my ideal.

Me too... I'm a major "over sharer" on everything, but this time its my own private knowledge. I've only told my manager, who I greatly respect and consider a friend. Everyone else I've told I have to have my hiatal hernia fixed. Similar procedure, so it explains my pre & post diet and my soreness.

the countertop just arrived!! Yeah!!!! It looks good to. I'm so excited, I just want them to finish the job now. Well, I have to sign off now. Got to go to the Karate show!
-
Jeanie! Thank you. You just made my day.

Hi everyone, I'm at home this moring waiting for our countertop to arrive. Then I'm off to a Karate demonstration at my son's karate day camp. Should be hillarious. He's been coming home all week going "hy yah" and swinging his arms and legs everywhere. Ms. Pris: I am so sorry for your experience. I know we all talk about our pre-op diets to shrink the liver, but I know I never viewed it as a dangerouse complication. I'm so glad you pulled through your surgery and have such a commendable attitude. Whatever your Plan B is, please stay with us on this board to share your success. Aunt Phyl: Good luck today, I'm thinking about you. FYI, Sashimi is the raw fish without the rice attached. So its a hunk of fish. I like sushi better, but I've been told rice can be difficult to get through the band. And there is no way I can give up my Japanese food. Lynette: Glad to hear you're over your first bad experience. Thanks for explaining what "PB" means... I wasn't sure. Ok, now for some trash talk... you need to get that hunk of a man over his "fear factor" and have some hot s#%. :biggrin1::biggrin1: Chimboree: you must be getting close to your date. I hope your illness is over and you're on schedule. Wrangler: congrats on your entry to bandland. I was able to open the pics, but shouldn't have.. They kind of freeked me out a bit. I used to work in a hospital while in university, and forgot I don't like looking at scars and stuff. But thanks for sharing. Dini: I'm so jealouse. I know you're from Italy, but I've never been outside of North America, and Italy is one place I would love to go to. I love the food, wine, history and culture. Unfortunately, my DH doesn't share that viewpoint, so I will have to go without him someday. His first wife was Italian, and he was young, and they lived with her parents, and he hated it... too much family for his "only child" experience. Sunny: I'm like you... I can't believe in 6 days I will be banded. OMG, now that scares me. So band buddy, I like your Dr. viewpoint on pre-op diets. I'm supposed to be on one, but I keep screwing up. I think it's part psychological and part horrible food choices. But I really do have to focus, as Ms. Pris's experience scares me. As for my own "nesting" situation... the kitchen is coming along. I came home last night and all the upper cupboards were in, but I quickly pointed out to my brother & DH that they made a mistake on the spacer. So they had to take down a few of the cupboards and do them over. Then they started on the lower cabinets. What a nightmare trying to put in the sink base. Anyway, they are almost done, and it will look wonderful. Should be done by tomorrow, except for the little things like base boards. Then I can clean and set up my kitchen in time for my surgery next Thurs.

I love Survivor. I;ve watched every season since Season 2. We saw season 1 in reruns. Every Thursday night when its on is our date night to watch Survivor. We used to tape it, put the kids to bed and sit in the bedroom eating sushi, drinking sake and watching Survivor. Now, we'll just have to switch to sashimi !!! I remember Rafe. He was my favourite to win. He seems like a really nice man. I also like Pirate Master, Amazing Race, Apprentice and 24. Those are my favourite shows.

Wow, tonight had a lot of different topics. It was a fun read trying to catch up. Let's see if I get this right... Lynette: Ooo La La, go for it. I just am wondering why you are still online at 10:37 pm if tonights the night. LOL Sunny: No one could or would forget you. You bring light to all of us. Aunt Phil: I looked at your photos again... man I love it out west. What a great place to go just before your surgery. Dini: Annafrancesca is beautiful. She looks like such an intelligent little girl, and one who has a clear understanding of just what she wants to do. Christie: You have such wonderful ideas and advice for people, and your picture (Avatar?) shows a beautiful woman. Today is day 6 of the pre-op hell diet. I oopsed and had a few bites of veggie pizza, but still about 500-600 cals. I really can't wait for the surgery. My DH finished the painting in the kitchen. It looks really good. I went out and bought the new sink, faucet and knobs and handles for the cabinets... so exciting!!!! It looks like it will all be in by Friday night, except for some finishing touches. To everyone who said they liked my kitchen "before" pictures, I guess the photo didn't do it the justice it deserved. The facings look ok in spots, the the cupboards are rotted out on the inside, and the doors are falling off!!! The floor had black mould growing underneath the vinal, and the counter was mushy and warped. Can you say WATER DAMAGE. My DH has taken about a 1000 pictures of the construction process, so when its all done, I share a few choice shots and the "after" or "reveal" shot. Well, now I have to go off to bed to do that really kinky thing everyone has alluded to with my DH. You see, I still can, because my surgery isn;t until next week. LOL. Goodnight all !

As a Canadian, I have a special pride in your beautiful photos, even though Whistler is on the other side of the country to me !!!! What a wonderful looking family you have.
-
I love this idea. I have some recipes that I can share and would love to see what everyone else has. This could evolve with us as we shrink with our bands.:cry

Denise, My heart goes out to you. I still vividly remember watching in horror as Katrina hit. I work for a company that has a manufacturing facility there, and we all were so worried about everyone (even though I didn't know them personally). I can't imagine how difficult these last two years have been for you and your community.

My surgeon said it will take 20 min. Then 45 min to recover (wake up). Then you sleep on and off for the next few hours. 4 hours after surgery, we go home. I'm being done in a clinic, not a hospital, and overnight is not required.

She is 3 years old, and full of energy. What she lacks in grace (due to the strokes, she quite floppy and uncoordinated) she makes up for in strength and determination. She is the happiest little girl I've ever known, and is so cute. She just breaks my heart (in a good way).

Lucky 7- July 07 Cruise (to bring or not to bring)
Kathybad replied to Lynette617's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would love to go cruisin' with the Lucky 7's, but I wouldn't want to go without my DH, and we don't have anyone to care for our kids... no built in grandparents.:faint: So I wish you all have lots of fun. -
Lynette, how are you tonight? I'm listening to my DH curse in the kitchen as he is trying to paint... he must be getting tired (hence the cursing). The floor went in today and looks beautiful. The company is promising to provide some compensation for not showing up Friday... we'll see what happens. If all goes well, the cupboards will arrive Wed. and my DH and brother will install them on Thurs - Sat. So I should have a working kitchen by end of day Sat. I really need this to be done before my surgury. I planned my date so that all would be done. I didn't want this hanging over me while I was laid up. Just like many of you have posted, I'm nesting right now, and the mess is really bumming out this mother bird :tired:tired My pre-op diet is going so-so. For everyone who has to do these pre-op diets... let me say it just isn't fair. We want to lose weight, but this is down right ridiculous. Today I've had 4 yogurts, 1 cottage cheese (yuck), 1 glass of milk and a chicken breast. That's maybe 500 cals. I'm so sick of the renovation, that I took my daughter out for dinner tonight. So here I am at Swiss Chalet (rotisserie chicken chain in Canada) watching my 3 year old daughter eat a leg/thigh, french fries, my salad, chocolat milk and my roll, while I have a chicken breast. She ate 3x as much as me!!!! She's 30 lbs and I'm almost 300 lbs. There is something wrong with this picture :hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry: DMTJET: My daughter was born here in London. She was born into a very bad situation. Children's Aid tried to work with the family, but they just couldn't get it together enough to care for her. She was born at 26 weeks gestation, and was less than 2 lbs. Poor thing spent 3-1/2 months in the hospital on a respirator, suffered 2 strokes. She briefly went home, but failed to thrive. So Children's Aid apprehended her and placed her in foster care. Chimboree: Has your illness cleared up yet? I hope you're feeling better soon. Good luck to all on deck tomorrow!!!
-
Way to go Peaches, you've lost 13 lbs in less than a week. Excellent. Did you ask Dr. Yau for a bikini port? Or was it his decision?
-
And here'e me in my old kitchen just before destruction.
-
Here's a picture of my men!!! I can't show my little girl until she is officially mine.
-
To all on deck tomorrow: Lainy, DarLaur, SunshineSonya, SweetJephy, Lindaa, RRKeithsGirl, HollySue, Coltonwade and Ms. Pris; Good luch and God Bless. And to those up next same sentiment.

Ok, I knew replacing the kitchen was going to be difficult to live with. But OMG,,, will it never end. :think The floor was the only thing to be installed by a contractor, arranged for on Friday. Of course, they were a no show... and this was a company that I've dealt with a lot before... no longer!!! Now my DH has to take tomorrow off work to be here when they come. I'm a little pissed at that, but more at just how disruptive it is. I've got stuff all over the house and drywall dust everywhere. I'm coughing and sneezing all the time. And now my DH is painting the ceiling (oil base), so the house stinks. Its times like this that I wish I could take the kids to the grandparents and escape for a few days. Any rental grandparents out there? And of course, my lack of food is making me really cranky, dare I say @ithchy!!! :tired:tired

Ok, I'm sort of pissed at myself. I started a diet in Nov. 2006 and weighted 275, with a body fat of 52%. I lost 75 lbs, kept it off for 5 minutes and gained 88 back in about 5 months. Today, I checked my body fat... its 60% OMG OMG. I now weigh 10 lbs more than I did back then, but what I lost before included muscle mass and I gained back all fat. Ohhh, am I motivated now to make this work!!!!

I couldn't imagine your situation. One question... does he do the fills or does his nurse? In the clinic I go to, the nurses and staff are the ones I will see when I go in, not the Dr. Although everyone who's met my Dr. really likes him, so I'm very fortunate. But I really will only see him for any complications. Hopefully that will be the same for you. My own experience (which is extensive as my 2 kids have 12 Dr's and specialists between them) is to grin and bear it. Be sure to get your questions answered, just try different ways each time and find out what works best. However, if you challenge him, in my experience, he will just become less available and more of a jerk. If you just let him sound off, then he might get over it quickly with you. Hope this helps. Believe me, I usually want to tell these ones exactly where to go, and give them the directions in case they get lost on the way

I'm on day 4 of my pre-op diet. Already lost 9 lbs of "real" weight (13 if you count what I put on during my "last supper syndrome"). I hate this diet. I'm weak, nausious and really really moody. I've yelled at my kids and DH more these last few days than I would in a month. Thank goodness my DH is patient with me.

Good luck Lainy... I'm a week and a half away, and I'm already scared. Everyone else is doing great, so hang in there. :clap2:
