Hey February 2010 Bandsters!
Northern Mist replied to Northern Mist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Day 10 of the pre-op diet. Yes, I'm still alive - just kidding...... my pre-op diet isn't as bad as some I've read. I was making my kids a bowl of cereal and grabbed a half of a hand full and ate them.....yikes! It was mindless eating..... if I was going to cheat it wouldn't have been with honey nut cheerios! LOL I didn't drop a pound over the weekend....my hubby said my body finally noticed the lack of calories and put the brakes on. I'm down another pound since thank goodness. Good luck all! -

The chicken flavor is ok in an actual soup...... so after banding and when we can eat full liquids and soft foods mix it - it's a little better than by itself. I can suffer through it if it's mixed with water and warm. My usual trick is to make the cold protein drinks ahead of time and let them get real cold. Some I make with less liquid and just down it as fast as I can. -

Tried Chocolate Unjury, a teaspoon of decaf instant coffee, 4oz water and a couple ice cubes this morning in a blender........it wasn't too bad...... Got up at 8am with a killer headache again.. took tylenol and went back to bed for a couple hours...... better for now. I really don't dislike my family but when they eat and eat and bring in junk food and actually forget I'm on a diet and offer it to me ALL weekend....... well I'm getting a little resentful  .......This also might be why I stayed in bed a little longer this morning. -

I dream about eating too! It's very strange.....but I usually am eating something we don't have in the house so I'm sure I didn't just sleep eat it! I think I'm so consumed with this pre-op diet right now that I'm taking all of it to bed with me....... No stomache aches but I sure am getting the head aches. Lack of caffeine or calories....or both I guess. The shake I can tolerate without gagging is the Unjury Vanilla with 2 strawberries blended in with 4-5 oz of skim milk. Everything else is a huge chore to get down. Good luck! -

Great! Everythings a go - no more tests. Pre-op diet starts Sunday - glad it's here and dreading it at the same time...............it's three Unjury shakes a day and a 4oz. lean meat with veggies/salad for dinner - not as bad as some I've read. You know what's really funny is I was suprised when I seen the model of the band. In my mind It had grown huge since I saw it last. It's really not that big at all! Made me feel much better. My fears had grown that thing to look like an inner tube with a garden hose running to the port! Ha! -

All went well with the pre-op appt. Yay! I was able to sit in with a nutrition class again since it's been awhile - thanks to BCBS of Il. and all their denials! The pre-op diet has been modified a little bit from the paperwork I was given the first time through - they added several servings of low-carb vegetables and 1tbsp of low fat dressing! Surgeon informed me that they use a new band now - the AP band. He said it had a much lower slippage and erosion rate than the band I would've gotten 2 years ago. Let's hope so! I asked about infection rate and he said his practise had a 0% rate and then he knocked on wood  It was funny and made him seem a little more down to earth. All in all it was a good day except for the argument my hubbie and I got into in a couple furniture stores. It seemed I thought we were on the same page with what we wanted..... until we got in the store and started sitting on totally different styles, colors, fabrics, etc... At one point I said I was a little more contemporary and he was pretty much traditional and he got offended. Something in my tone?!? OMG - nothing like a whispered fight in public  No furniture today! Love him to death but sometimes.......Arghhh! -

Had an appointment with my doctor today and got the clearance letter for surgery! Yay! I have a 2 hour nutrition class in the morning and then my pre-op appt. with the surgeon at 1pm........then I start my pre-op diet on Sunday! It's getting closer and my butterflies feel as if they're getting larger by the day. I know it's just me........... but I have an aversion to the "Funky" part of the February name someone came up with - Funky to me means smelly! I'm gonna have to be a rebel and come up with my own name  -

What are your thoughts on hunting?
Northern Mist replied to jessress87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a woman and an avid hunter. I have compassion for animals but I also realise it's the cycle of life and has been for some time. It might upset some people but, in general, I have found there's no better advocate for animals than a hunter. We understand what it takes to have a healthy, manageable herd/flock. Science is behind the decisions regarding bag limits, size, etc...... for the most part and with the exception of poachers.......we are not out in the woods just blasting away at anything that moves. "Canned Hunting or "Drive thru Hunting" is generally for the people who can afford it. I'm on the fence about this one because there are a lot of variations with how they're ran but I am sure in Cheney's situation they donated the meat to food banks. Interesting thread. Everything I have killed I have fed to my family - I will not kill anything just for "Sport". If we don't like the meat or plan on eating it - we don't kill it. -

I think the Foxy Pappa's might get offended  There's a Feb. 2010 group that has a name of Feb's Funky Bandits. Check it out at - LAP-BAND I usually see the group vote but the name is catchy Welcome and good luck! -

Sometimes I'm in so many threads I can't keep track  I have finished all my tests, etc.... I'm pretty much good to go now. I have a 2 hour nutrition class and my pre-op appt. on January 20th. Then I start my pre-op diet soon after. The hospital called today to register me over the phone - it's getting closer! -

I have my nutrition class Jan. 20th and my pre-op appt. on the same day.....My pre-op diet starts Jan. 25th - two weeks of shakes for Breakfast and lunch - dinner consists of a salad or veggies and a 4oz serving of a lean meat. No carbs..... I will stick to it to a "T". I'm to freaked out about what could go wrong to take chances - plus I have $2,400 out of pocket and that's a lot of money for us to throw away. Keep in touch. -
What's the last pic?? Please don't leave us hanging we all know how hectic life can be - don't worry about it! Take care!
