I started walking on the treadmill at the gym the day after I got home. Just doing 30 minutes each time. I gradually increased the speed, incline, and speed. At my week six check I was ready to start doing some running and couldn't wait to get the clearance to do so. I was told to move for 30 minutes a day and I believe it made me recover quicker also by not just sitting around.

Chinese food

I love Kung Pao chicken (extra spicy please) but haven't attempted it since surgery. I think because I know I would have to have it with rice and I really don't want to eat the rice. -
What's are you doing about clothes?
lilbootch replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've bought a few things at thrift stores have bought a few new shirts along the way when I couldn't find anything elsewhere. Goodwill has been a great resource so far. -
I've been wondering about this recently as well. How is the carb content in Quinoa? Is it comparable to rice or less?

Pretty much the same as the other posts. I was on weight lifting restrictions for the first six weeks but was able to get in and get on the hamster wheel (Treadmill). By weeek 6 I was ready to start running and lifting. That 6 week check up appoointment couldn't come fast enough.

I had an issue with some nausea also and ended up staying an extra day in the hospital. It will get better. Congrats on your surgery and your new life journey.

My favorite is the Muscle Milk Light. I just get the chocolate ones. Had them pre surgery liquid diet and still have no issue consuming them now. -
Mine was a little over a week also. And then it took forever to go once I got in there. Since then at almost 5 months out it is like every other day.

Taken my first day meeting with the surgeon. -
I'm here. Had my procedure 08/29/13. Looks like you're only a few day out from your date. Being nervous is natural for something life changing as we all have gone through or will be going through soon here. I actually had no issues with pain after my procedure and have had an easy time with adapting to my new lifestyle. My support system has been fantastic and the fact that I can come here anytime also when I may have a question or concern is great. Congratulations on your upcoming procedure. As I've seen others post here, we'll see you soon on the loser's bench with the rest of us.

what vitamins do you take?

I thought I was done with these at age 10 but my doctor told me to use Flintstone's complete chewables. -
Can't exercise, can you still succeed?
lilbootch replied to Scorpion11's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually had the same issue with 3 bulging disc in my low back about a year before I had surgery or even considered it. I'm guessing you already have gone to a back specialist. I was sent to physical therapy 2x per week for about a month then once a week for another month. I was given a good amount of stretches to do on a daily basis and slowly started adding in exercise (mostly pool exercises) as I could tolerate it generally working my way back to little or no pain. I was also given a home traction machine. I truly hope you can get some relief from your pain and be able to fully enjoy your life journey. -
I'm waiting on buying clothes until I'm closer to where I think I will end off on the weight loss. I did however buy a smaller vehicle already. A brand newish Mini Cooper.

That's way too cold. We are looking at high temps on Monday and Tuesday of around -15 here in Minnesota. I don't know how as a weatherperson you can go on air and say high and negative in the same sentence. I would wear shorts year round and this year I am also bundled up. Can't remember when I last wore shorts outside. Like everyone else here I have lost my insulation. Brrrrrrr!!!! -
Best of luck to the two of you. Happy New Year and Cheers to the two of you starting yet another life journey together.

What did you eat on your First day of real food?
lilbootch replied to ddw12's topic in Food and Nutrition
I had some chicken and some green Beans. I know it sounds boring but after what seemed like forever on liquid and pureed diet it was spectacular. -
I'm having trouble getting a protein source I like. HELP! !

I had the Muscle Milk Light during my liquid diet before surgery and still drink it now. I got the chocolate flavor and found it quite easy to drink. -

Everything revolves around food...
lilbootch replied to Nurse_B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree there is no way to escape food at gatherings of any kind. I found that if I'm going to a gathering and I know there is food I will just make something up for me to share with everyone else that works for me (like you were saying). If you don't like it don't eat it. I got to say though I have been lucky to have friends and family that will always ask if there is something that they could make that I could eat also. You'd be suprised how many people are going to opt for the less filling, less greasy foods. Especially those who make a New Years Resolution -
I'm ready for a laugh or too! How about you?!

I know these are bad words around here for some but I found that the Protein shakes seemed to help with the hunger sounds quite a bit. I know as my day was approaching I was more excited than nervous for my procedure. Good luck on Monday!
