  1. I wasn't really a cottage cheese fan either but for some reason I can't get enough of the stuff. This must be one of the changes my doctor was talking about. I think I must be one of the few that don't mind my Protein shakes during the day. The only thing I would worry about with the pork rinds are the amount of sodium in those things. Guess you would definitely get your Water in for the day though. haha
  2. I usually just tell people that I've been watching my food intake more (not a lie) and exercising more (also not a lie) if I don't feel like explaining my whole story to them. I do feel that some people are just on a need to know basis regarding my procedure. I do get questioned every now and then but haven't gotten the are you sick remark. Don't let it get you down as you should know in fact you are getting healthier. Best of luck continuing along your journey. Keep your head up Rosci.
  3. We have just gotten to the point of sharing a meal also. It's just too much food and after the second day I usually lose interest in it. I really like the idea of putting the saved money away into an account for something else later.
  4. Like Madam Reverie said. "They are instructed to touch raw nerves". It was almost like they were trying to break me down a little bit during my visit. Hopefully you can now get some rest and decompress a bit. You are now one step closer in the journey.
  5. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Like you said "support is everything". If you have a good support system you can do anything. The only thing I've had to focus on was chewing my food completely before swallowing it now. Other than that it has been the best thing I've done for myself. Happy Holidays and enjoy that early Christmas gift.
  6. I had 10lbs to lose 2 weeks out and was put on liquid diet. I ended up losing 21 in just under two weeks. Just stick to what the Doc is telling you. I also ended up putting in some more time on the elliptical and treadmill just so I wouldn't think about wanting to eat something. You can do it.

    Anyone from Minnesota

Ahh yes the Minnesota section. Hello everyone. I'm from the northwest suburbs and was at Unity Hospital with Dr. Baker for my sleeve on August 29th. Not quite ready for the cold weather as I have been freezing lately (due to weight lost, so not a bad thing) Just going to have to layer up. Definitely looking like the cold weather is here.
  8. I was also on shakes two weeks before surgery. The first couple days were a bit rough but I found drinking more Water helped me to feel full and not looking for something to eat. I also found myself doing more at the gym to keep my mind off not eating any solid foods. You'll get through shakeville and before you know it the day of surgery will be here.

    Muscle Mass

You will probably lose a little bit of muscle. I wasn't able to lift for six weeks following surgery. Keep moving though. Now that I'm back to lifting and losing the weight I am starting to see the definition a bit more muscularly. My arms aren't as big as they were before but that is due to the weight loss. I'm beyond what I was lifting before surgery and feel a bunch better. Just make sure you get that Water in every day. I still do a Protein shake each day also.
  10. We all have the fear of failing. But this may also be fear of the unknown also. I had the same type of issue. I was thinking of all the food I would be missing out on instead of the better health and way of life I was about to experience. I'm diabetic and am now controlling it with my diet and exercise alone. No more medication. I feel a lot better and have found a bunch of useful recipes on the site that I can make. Aside from the liquids for three weeks after surgery that I had to endure it has been the best thing I have done for myself. You can and will succeed. If I can do it, you can do it also. Good luck with the rest of your journey and please keep us updated here. Can't wait to hear about your success.
  11. I would always be warm. I would wear shorts year round here in Minnesota. 2 months after surgery I'm cold quite a bit and wearing long pants and jackets when I go outside. I'm waiting for my body to adjust itself so I'm not cold all the time.

    Sleeved Oct 22Nd

I find I would get headaches if I didn't get enough Water in during the day.

    Surgery tomorrow! Freaking out

Good luck everyone on your surgeries coming up this week and the beginning of your new life journey. Flavored sponges? I had no idea there was such a thing. I think my hospital staff may have been holding out on me.

    200lbs to Lose Starting Tomorrow

Congrats. I'm sure you'll do great. Support system is very important. Like nsquared said I don't really have any desire for the processed foods at all. Though I have developed kind of an addiction to cottage cheese.

    Anyone from MN

I'm in the Anoka area as well (Ramsey). I had my surgery at the end of August and it has been the best thing I've ever done. I hope all is going well with your journey. Nice to see a few more people from Minnesota here.
  16. I dropped 20 lbs in two weeks. I basically drank 3 muscle milk light shakes a day and hit the gym for about an hour each day for straight cardio workouts.

    Getting sleeved in 6 hours

Like bettyb71 said. Walk as much as you can and you will feel better quicker. Congrats on your surgery!

    exercise

I started walking every day after getting home and eventually got back into the gym. I started gradually increasing the speed on the treadmill to where I have now gotten to the point of actually running. I will do the elliptical machine also. In all I will do about 45-60 minutes of "cardio" exercise a day. I may now have to try the spin class thanks mamamareli for the idea on that one. I have also been cleared as of this week to start lifting weights again.

    August sleevers up dates. ..?

Sleeved Aug 29th. High weight - 314 Surgery Day - 294 Now - 263 Down 51 lbs total so far.
  21. My only thing was the nausea later in the day that I had surgery and part of the next morning when they had me swallow the contrast to make sure I had no leaks. Other than that I had no pain medication at all aside from what they gave me when I was first brought to my room. Things have gone quite well so far. I'm sure you'll do fine and there will always be people here to talk to if you need anything. Good luck with the rest of the journey leading up to the big day.
  22. I had mine done August 29th at Unity Hospital in Fridley with Dr. Baker. I didn't really tell anyone ahead of time except for family and some really close friends. It was really important for me to have the support in place for me before I went through the journey. Haven't really told many co-workers at this point.

    August Sleevers?

Two weeks down on the liquid diet with one to go. Things were a bit rough on liquids this week and I can finally see the end and the beginning of pureed! Was never a fan of V8 juice but I must say it is probably my favorite thing to drink now. It's a nice change up from all the water and protein shakes.

    August Sleevers?

They started me on Flintstones Chewable Complete. Thouht I was done with Flintstone tablets when I was eight. Hope this helps you out a bit. Hopefully the exhaustion issue starts to go away soon.
