Finally hit 60 lbs lost yesterday. Stalled for almost two weeks! I took a day and really pushed protein and water. Added a couple more dog walks and boom, pushed through the plateau! Whew! Thank god.... I was getting worried!
-
Now down 58 lbs! HW:297, SW:287, CW:239. I can taste onderland! Needing to add in more exercise, but 58 lbs in 3 months ain't bad! Just a little update

It's all true!
AshleyMidwife replied to GriffinSabine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You all are lucky! I don't think that is the norm. I was so excited to have no hunger, and that was true for the first 8 weeks or so, and now that I am almost 3 months out, it's returned. Certainly not at preop levels, but I have some mild hunger at normal times during the day. I hope your decreased hunger levels last as long as possible! Don't be worried if they come back, that's normal. It's not the same as preop, and you can still only eat so much anyway. -
How can I not loose weight.

Patricia, SEE YOUR SURGEON! And your nutritionist too! -
My doctor thinks I can get to 150, but I don't! I have the opposite problem! I think 170 is reasonable. I'm 5'10 and 150 seems extreme! But hey, maybe I'll surpass that even! I just know for me, I'd be happy under 200. Currently 245, down from 297 Do what's right for you! And honestly you won't know until you get there. Go get em!

I was super constipated the first month or so after surgery. Going maybe 1-2 times per week. Once I was able to eat solids, I started adding some fruit to my diet and a fiber gummy every day. I also am constantly dehydrated....so when I'm better about drinking my water, I go more consistently. Currently I average about every other day. And it's not as hard and painful as it was. It's a common problem with bariatric patients! I have miralax on hand but haven't had to use it. Drink your water!

Is this normal?
AshleyMidwife replied to Ready2tryagain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm just over two months out and occasionally I miss being able to eat a whole plate of food, and yeah I still get the urge to eat things I shouldn't. The sleeve is the best negative reinforcement tool ever invented for over weight people! I just think about the pain it will cause and the desire to keep off what I've already lost....and all the crazy urges go away! It's ok to eat what you want to now, before you start the pre op diet. You've shown you can stick to a diet by the weight you've already lost. Good luck and keep asking questions! I had the six month pre op waiting period and did so much reading about it thought I was totally prepared......even though I thought I was, nothing can really prepare you for how it will feel. It's something so completely foreign. But you'll get the hang of it real quick. It's a BIG change. Have your support system in place and check in on this forum often! Go get em! -

R there any Dec 2013 sleevers
AshleyMidwife replied to chanelle102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HW 297, SW 287, CW 248. Down 49 lbs since pre op diet started dec 2. Down 39 lbs since surgery. This is the first time I've really looked at my numbers. Feel pretty good about them! I'm eating at most 1000 cals per day (on work out days) but average 700-800 or so. Not so great at getting all my protein in, but better on days I drink protein shakes. Feeling very happy that I can eat most normal foods now. Felling better and better each day! Go dec sleevers! -
Shock, excitement and time to get ready
AshleyMidwife replied to NotSoTall's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Read as much as you can! Prepare prepare prepare! It's a HUGE change. -
Thanks nesa!

Just listen to your body. For me I feel really low if I don't get at least 700-800 cals daily. And you don't want your body to go into starvation mode either, so try adding more cals from high protein sources like shakes and cheese etc. and most of all, listen to you body. If you feel crappy when exercising, wait a little longer until you're able to get closer to 1000 cals daily.

Nice work! Big differences in your face. Keep it up!

I am almost two months out. I JUST started exercising. I play competitive court volleyball for a couple hours once a week, and honestly that's about all I'm willing to put in at this point. My busy work schedule and lack of energy really hinder vigorous activity for me. When I know it's a day I'm going to be exercising, I be sure to try to get 1200 or so cals because otherwise, I will feel just really crappy (like low blood sugar feeling) afterwards. I probably could be doing more, but I'm losing pretty rapidly (45 lbs in 2 months) and would rather not push too hard at this point. Because we as sleevers take in so few calories, it can make long hard workouts pretty daunting. If I were you, I'd start slow with a 20-30 mins walk 3-4 times a week. Work your way unto it and for gods sake, listen to your body! Hydrate really well on workout days and add a few hundred more calories. Good luck!
-
Thanks so much guys. Down 2 more lbs since the original post! Something's working! Minimal problems....just heartburn mostly, if I don't take my meds. Started working out this week. Going to have to remember to eat a little more cals on workout days. Felt pretty dumpy after. Everyday I'm learning how to live my new and improved life! So happy about my decision

How often do you poop? Don't be shy!
AshleyMidwife replied to Bronco0605's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having the same problem! It's terrible to go from regular daily pooper to maybe twice a week. I take probiotics pretty regularly and started adding more fruit to my diet and I feel like maybe there's some difference. Especially in the consistency. It's been so hard and painful to go fruit helps soften things a bit for me. I need to be better at hydrating, that's for sure. I didn't know we could take colace! I'm going to pick some up and a fiber gummy and get some peristalsis in my life! Yahoo! -
Surgery was dec 9th.
-
I had surgery dec 9th 2013 and have lost 40lbs so far. Finally am eating normal foods and feeling much more like myself. Still pretty low on energy especially with a long work day but working on getting calories in. Hydrating as best I can, but that's a work in progress too. Where are you at in your journey?

Not sure which BC to use after surgery?
AshleyMidwife replied to Sydney Lynn Pinckley's topic in The Gals' Room
I am the same. Mirena and have had it for 3 years. I haven't had children and was just fine to have it placed. It's great bc it makes your periods light and might even make then go away. I haven't had a period in over a year!!
