Pics- scars, skin, and stretch marks...OH MY!
Sofficial replied to Sassafras's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow you look amazing I don't see any extra skin at all...I hope and pray that I look this good!!! And I agree your butt is on point!! lol Did you work out often? -
It seems that most people have to pay which had me worried so I just called Health Care USA which is Missouri state Medicaid and they said if I am approved then I won't have to pay anything, and that makes since because to require for state Medicaid in Mo you have to have an income below the poverty line in most cases.

What?!?! I thought you would have more energy.

9 Months--there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
Sofficial replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Now I have not had the surgery yet so my advice is more so based on education than experience. The nutritionist told me that if I did not take in enough protein that my hair would began to fall out and my nails would begin to crack. Throughout the entire appointment she constantly stressed that I needed to take in at least 60mg of protein daily. If your already taking in 60mg, then maybe you should try taking it up to about 70 or 80mg that might help. -
six month waiting period driving me crazy!
Sofficial replied to Sofficial's topic in Insurance & Financing
Idk, but I've read a lot of post with people saying that your initial BMI is what maters, and I've also read post of people saying that their Dr. ordered them to NOT loose anymore weight or else they would not qualify. My BMI is 42 with a comorbidities (sleep apnea) and even I'm kinda afraid of loosing weight lol. I just don't want anything to get in the way of me having this. The good thing about your situation is even if your BMI did drop, November and December is the months when people usually gain weight so it won't be hard to gain it back if you wanted to lol -

That's wonderful that you reached your goal in just nine months. Were you doing anything special or different, to keep loosing at a steady pace -
If your doing this from your desktop or laptop, its pretty simple. Look in the right hand corner of your screen, click on your name, then click account settings. You should then see general account settings, right under that it will say photos, then click on the word "browse" and choose a picture from your pc library.

last appointment! now what?
Sofficial replied to ElliottWasHere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to let them know that your interested in every aspect of the surgery process. No, you will not come off sounding like a jerk just by asking questions about the process of handling your health, your supposed to ask questions, lots of questions. The bariatric center where I go gave me a very informative binder with a checklist in it. Maybe you should write down all the questions that you have and if they don't answer the phone then make a trip to their office. Congratulations in being even closer to having this procedure done! -
Just beginning and scared!

This is gonna sound like a silly question but, I keep seeing everyone talk about NUT, I've been trying to figure out what the abbreviation means and am I required to do it or maybe I've already done it idk. -

I've been paying more attention to them when I go to Wal-Mart and CVS trying to get a general idea of how much they cost, but no I haven't actually bought any. I told myself I'll start on them during the pre liquid diet, but I think we have to do that anyway. What I'm tying to do now is cut out sweet tea! -
You look amazing, and yes the weight sneaks on you. I have not had the surgery yet but there is a big difference between looking at pictures and looking n the mirror. Sometime when I look in the mirror I'll say to myself "I'm not that fat I don't look so bad" but then your at an outing and someone snaps a full body picture of you so you look at that picture and just want to crawl under a rock and never come out. Months go by without you seeing a pic of yourself and then its "I'm not so bad looking..." and the vicious cycle continues...well until I get sleeved lol

Just beginning and scared!
Sofficial replied to Crissy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also just started my journey August this year and I've been so excited and have not been able to calm down since. I 'm just afraid that something will get in the way of me having the surgery. A couple of years ago I was in the process of getting the surgery, I did the psych eval met with the dietician and nurse, I was in the beginning phases but I was on my way, then I lost my job and health insurance and it was all gone just as quick as it came, I was devastated. So now my only fear is that something will get in the way and it will all be snatched away from me again. And just like Martha I also have worries that I'd do all the work and get rejected by the hospital staff for one reason or the other. -
Completely agree!!!!

Mo Girl I live in Missouri too, St.Louis, where do you live if you don't mind me asking? And Sassy I was diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea three years ago, I didn't require a C-Pap machine, my PCP just recommended weight loss. Last month I met with the nurse at the bariactric center and ordered me to do another sleep study on 9/20, because she think my sleep apnea may have gotten worse according to the questioner I filled out. -

Wow Ely that was deep, how I will cope without having the comfort of food has also been one of my worries. I just figured that I would be able to deal with it more easily because I have the surgery helping me out, helping me to control portion size (how we fool ourselves). Thanks you gave some great advice, and your right, it would be a good idea to start keeping a journal. I know its gonna take more than six months to make such a change, but its a start and its better than doing nothing at all. Lory your Pre-Op diet is coming up soon, you'll be strong enough to do it, just keep in mind that your doing it for a successful surgery, a surgery that you have waited for what probably seems like a lifetime for. Well at least that's what I'm gonna tell myself lol -
No, I think you might be right. I mean that pic of her seriously, blahahahahaha, that can't be real, and she's just way too funny. (Team Pokey all day!!!)

Wonderful job!!!!...but it would be nice to show people in a support group who is going through the same thing you went through BEFORE and after pics... they're are highly motivating, I would say even more motivating than just after pics alone. If we want to see a ripped body and that's it we could just watch tv or thumb through a magazine. I'm sure you know where I'm coming from
