Anyone else worried about skin?
Sofficial replied to cescelli's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a few threads with people showing pics of how they look after all the weight is gone and they don't look bad at all. I think it all just depends the person. This one girl put her pics up and she looked GOOD!! She said she didn't really work out at all, it just bounced back. Type loose skin in the search bar -
Well said!! That's some advice I can use for myself!!

I will be so excited and happy when...
Sofficial replied to Tiki's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I'm able to look down at my lap and actually see the seat of the chair I'm sitting in as well. -
No matter how many times I read people saying that they lost 50, 60, 70lbs, ect in an amount of months, still amazes me. I can,t wait till I'm able to post that on here. Congratulations
-
Congratulations Irs, how's it going. Loveit2012 I know what you mean I'm afraid of that too, I'm also afraid that something will get in the way of me getting it because I want it ssooo bad and usually that's how goes when you want something bad.

Do you still get hungry?
Sofficial replied to Sofficial's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lmbo...but yeah I guess it just depends on the person. -
At the seminar I was told that the portion of your stomach that tells your brain you're hungry will be removed, and because of this you will never be hungry again. He also said that some of his clients even forget to eat sometimes. From your experience, do you believe this to be true? Do you still get hungry?

Things I will NOT miss about being fat.
Sofficial replied to unbesleevable1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my, you guys hit the nail on the coffin with all of these, so I just might steal a few of my favorites lol but here are mine. 1. Being afraid to run into people I haven't seen in a while. 2. Other kids telling my kids that their mother is fat ( most hurtful) 3. Getting depressed EVERYTIME I go shopping and try on clothes 4. Not being able to cross my legs 5. My children missing out on fun activities because of my insecurities (Six-Flags) 6. Being offered unsolicited advice about how to lose weight. 7. Feeling self conscious -
Wow, congrats!! and nice tattoo

Do you still get hungry?
Sofficial replied to Sofficial's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you all feel like its easier to make better food choices now that the hunger has subsided a little bit, AND also knowing that you're not going to be able eat a whole lot. Like for instance Gamergirl ate a 2oz piece of chicken and 1 shrimp, instead of eating 1 or 2 slider from white castles and getting full. How much easier is it now post-op to make these wise food choices. -
I know what you mean. I seriously don't know how I'm gonna get through the next 4 1/2 months. To be honest this forum isn't making things any better lol. I feel like I'm becoming addicted to this site, now all of my free time is being consumed by chit chat about the surgery and that's not even to mention how much I think about having it. Do you have to wait six months too?

A change is coming.....
Sofficial replied to Rawnuncut's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and while I respect everyones opinion, however I have to disagree with Missybean. I don't want to get into a debate on this Forum, but I must say if you truley believe that marrige is just a piece of paper it's no wonder that your marriage isn't working out (no disrespectful intent) but I believe that the problem with this society and why homes are broken and the divorce rate is so high, its because people have a mind set like you, Marriage is just a peice of paper. No, marriage is not a walk in the park, its give and take, its hard work and you have have to put a ton of effort into it. There is no equal amount to be put in, sometimes you may put in 70% and he 30% and vice versa. You have to realize that although you both came together as one, you both are seperate individuals. You're not gonna always agree on the same things, and you'll want seperate things, you'll have different interest. You can't just run at the first, second, third, fourth... sign of a problem. And the real problem is that people don't take their vows seriously. Now I don't know whats going on in your relationship but if your leaving just because he's not a family man and is lazy, and selfish, then good luck being sucessful in your next relationship with the midset that you have. How can you expect him to take you marriage serious if you don't even take it serious, after all marriage is just a peice of paper. Dont get me wrong I'm not saying that no one should ever get divorced. What I'm saying is that people should take their vows more seriously, and respect the sanctity of their marriage. -

A change is coming.....
Sofficial replied to Rawnuncut's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Should you feel bad about wanting him to be healthy and live a long, and much more happier life, no you should not. But wanting to leave him already and you, yourself haven't even fully committed to the lifestyle yet uuummm maybe you should feel a little bad. I mean I'm not in your relationship so I don't know what type of relationship you guys have. But he is your HUSBAND and you should honor your vows, if he's not mentally, physically, or verbally abusing you or children(if any) or cheating on you, I believe this is something that can be dealt with. Even if he don't get on board at first, there's a good chance that once he see you committing and being successful on your journey he might hop on board and join you, and if not you guys need to try hard to figure out another way to make each other happy without food. Just set an example and be that inspiration that he probably needs. Take this six months and try to work on building a better relationship with your husband w/o food. And after the surgery like I said be his inspiration he needs you. -
I got the approval! yayyy!

WAITING AND GETTING ANTSY
Sofficial replied to carolinagirl1991's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're almost there just think back to when this journey first began and how excited and anxious you were. Just thinking about your final appointment alone probably made you feel antsy, at least that's how it is with me lol. I still have 4 1/2 months to go to even get my paper work submitted . But don't worry its coming you're almost at the finish line to start your new life. -

Approved for Surgery & No one to tell
Sofficial replied to MsK1972's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I'm very excited about the surgery so I tell people all the time and take time to explain why its so important for me to have this, and I've been getting pretty good feedback. But today I told my neighbor while we were having small talk and she really pissed me off with all of her negativity. She started telling me that she lost 100lbs on her own by cutting out beef and pork and how her mom had it done in 96' and she's still real heavy. She was really drilling me!!!! Like it was her sole mission to convince me to not have the surgery. I mean what does me having this done have to do with you!! At that point I told myself I'm done with telling anymore people, I don't have time for the negativity. And I also think one of my best friends is secretly not wanting me to have the sleeve because she's afraid of me getting all of the attention when we go places (now she's getting all of it) and I'm fine with that because getting a lot of attention is one the things that I know I'm going to dread. Back when I was smaller and in shape I used to HATE it when men constantly hit on me. I know it sounds crazy but I am actually enjoying being looked over and ignored LOL, now I have freedom to do things without some man constantly staring and gawking at me. Now I'm getting way off topic, but yes sometimes I believe that other people's negative thoughts can block good things from happening to you. I mean I don't follow that theory to a T, but sometimes I feel its true. -
My insurance is making me wait six months before I can get the surgery, and I am going crazy with excitement. It's only been a month so far...I think I'm becoming obsessed with the thought of having this surgery. I constantly read about it online, I can't help but tell the people I know that I'm in the process of getting the surgery, and I can't stop looking at before and after pics of people who had the surgery. I just need to calm down but idk how, and I know my family is getting tired of me talking about. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?
