    OR - Portland

I'm in Portland and would be interesting in meeting up at some point. I'll keep tabs on this thread.

I feel like I am doing everything wrong

Do you have a smartphone or tablet? There's an app called "Eat Slower" that's very helpful for slowing down. You can set a timer for whatever interval you like and you take a bite, push the start button and it will ding when it's time to take another bite. I think eating slow is very important to making sure you don't take too much in, especially this early after surgery. My Doc to take everything slow and to baby my sleeve for a while longer.

    Craving food

Can you have yogurt yet? I was able to have the greek yogurt cups from day 1 and found those really helped me during the liquid phase. It feels more like eating rather than drinking. I too am one of the unfortunate ones to have hunger from the get go. The nice thing about the sleeve though, is that hunger and craving gets satisfied very quickly. It's funny because I'll be hungry and then weigh out around 100g (3-4oz) of ground turkey (or something similar), and then only be able to eat 1/2 of it because I get full so quickly. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you make good food choices (Protein, protein, protein) before choosing to eat anything else (veggies/carbs).

    SABOTAGE DREAMS

Sounds just like nicotine dreams after you quit tobacco. After I quit chewing and smoking several years ago, I did occasionally have dreams where I dipped tobacco or was smoked and just felt awful about it the next morning.

    taking NSAIDS

Ask your doctor. My doc actually had me take a liquid Tylenol and Liquid Advil cocktail right after surgery. I took both for about a week after surgery, but I didn't really ask about long term usage. It really helped keep me off the narcotic pain meds as I only took 2 oxy the day after surgery and just took the over the counter meds after that. Ask your doc.

    Pureed protein ideas?

I thought I would love scrambled eggs, but I don't seem to make them very often. I love refried Beans. I sprinkle them with some low fat cheddar and some salsa and they go down nice and easy without having to break out the food processor. I also buy the 93% fat free ground Turkey. I brown it then braise with chicken broth until it's fully cooked. Then toss it in the food processor until it's at a consistency I can tolerate. I then add a tbsp of bbq sauce to my portion and mix it up. It's tasty, but I'm not that hard to please I also do tuna salad with dill pickle relish, low fat mayo and mustard. I dont' even puree it, just mash the crap out of it with my fork.
  7. Are you meeting your Protein goals? My NUT says protein before everything else. If you're meeting your protein goal and have room, I don't see why a few crackers will hurt. Since I have to get in around 100 grams of protein per day and I'm only 5 weeks out, I don't have room for much else besides meat and Protein shakes

    fast tracked and fearfull

A month and a half ago, I was in your shoes. I spent 6 months on an insurance program before they would approve surgery and then bam! It all got very real. I was scared to death when if finally got real, but now that it's all over and I've had this sleeve for a month, I don't regret it at all. You'll do fine. Pre-surgery is a little nerve wracking, just make sure you have the anestisologist slip you a little something to relax you. After that, it should all be over before you know it. The first few days-week after surgery are a little rough, but now, other than the fact I cant' eat very much, life has resumed back to normal for me.

    FULL LIQUID DIET

Yep, I just took a hand blender to any bisque Soup (cashew ginger carrot was my favorite) to puree up any chunks.

    Help -4 days post op

Small sips and try room temp or warm liquids. Cold Water did not agree with me the first week. Make sure you're taking your PPI/Prilosec if your Doc prescribed it. I'm on it twice a day and it helps keep the acid down.

    gas

Just keep walking and it will come out. I'm 3 weeks out and even though I'm eating refried Beans once a day now, the gas is not even close to how it was the first week or two.
  12. I wish I had no appetite, but I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones. The nice thing is even though I do get hungry, it's not as bad as it was pre-surgery and after 1/3 cup or so of a pureed meal, I completely lose interest in food for 3-4 hours, so the sleeve works,

    PAIN HELP!

    Not normal. Call your Doc.

    Baby Food? Pureed Foods stage

Mine told me we could puree it ourselves too. Either way pureed chicken just doesn't seem edible to me. It tastes pretty good to me You already "puree" chicken in your mouth when you chew. It tastes exactly the same, just with mashed potato texture.
  15. I'm three weeks out and while I can't chug down a 20+oz bottle of Water in seconds like I used to, I can take a normal mouthful of water every few minutes without any issues. The first week was pretty rough though. 1oz of room temp water every 10-15 min was all I could get in.
