I dislike all protein powders, and I've tried a lot of them. I've been relying on Isopure drinks (20oz = 40g protein) to get me through the liquid stage. I found a post that recommended Atkins ready-made shakes and tried the Cafe Caramel shake and LOVED IT! Reminds me of a McDonalds Frappe. BUT it has 9 grams of fat per 11oz. Only 4 carbs, 15g of protein, 160 calories....is that fat content too high? Should I not concern myself with fat content at this early stage post-op (10 days out)? My doctor started me on pureed foods day 8 and I've been doing great. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

That's great news and it makes me super happy. Protein shakes and I just don't mesh. I find they either taste weird or they have a chalky consistency. Makes me gag.

Who started pureed foods during week 1 or 2?

My doctors plan had me on full liquid the first 7 days and on day 8 I moved onto pureed. I'm on day 10 and I'm eating scrambled eggs, pureed turkey chili...anything allowed in the pureed stage. I've had no problems whatsoever starting pureed early. In fact, I've made my protein total the past 2 days through food, but I add a protein shake to put myself over 80g of protein. I've lost 12 pounds since my surgery and I feel frickin' fantastic. -
I specifically asked my NUT about watermelon. She encouraged it, especially early on (1-4 weeks out) because it has so much Water in it, it's soft but allows you to 'chew' which a lot of patients miss doing. Obviously, don't eat the seeds. lol

Beings fall is nearly upon us, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some delicious pumpkin recipes? I have a pumpkin cookie recipe from "before" but its got a ton of butter in it so that's OUT. I found a no-crust pumpkin pie - I bet adding some Protein powder to it would make for a perfect Thanksgiving dessert. http://www.marinaweightloss.com/recipes/pumpkin-pie/ Okay, what'cha got? I'll be needing my pumpkin fix as soon as the weather changes and the leaves start to fall. It's a must in my book.

It took a while to find them, had to hunt around the store! They were in the coffee isle in some random obscure spot on the top shelf.

Good! I'll give them a try! Wish their products weren't so expensive. The least they could do is offer some darn coupons!

I will likely exceed my calories today :( Thank you Sliders!

Gamergirl - what is your own personal daily quota of protein, fat, calorie, carb? I try to limit myself as well to what I think suits my need, but it's always interesting to hear what someone else is striving for. As for the Protein Bar...I've also heard that in you're stalled to eat a higher amount of fat/calories. So consider this your day and tomorrow start fresh. Don't be so hard on yourself! -
I use the Isopure drinks (40 grams Protein). The punch tastes just like Hi-C, but I dilute it with water. I also crush up some ice in my ninja and add the isopure to the ice...takes on a slushy texture and the taste isn't as strong. I've had no luck with protein shakes/powder either. I'm much to finicky.

Oh! Pumpkin Spice sounds awesome!!! I have caramel which I add to my shakes, but I'd LOVE me some pumpkin spice!!! I bought mine at Walmart for less than $4. They had a decent variety which shocked me! -
Hey Guys, I'm sure this has already been mentioned in earlier posts, but you can purchase the Torani Syrups at Walmart. They had a decent variety too! Less than $4 a bottle!

Hi everyone! I was sleeved 8/28. I'm on the mushy foods part of my journey and I struggle to get enough protein daily. My incisions are all healing nicely, no infection, drainage of any kind, but I have some serious muscle pain in the largest incision. i have yet to find a protein powder i like, so I've stuck to the Isopure drink, but I'm getting tired of it to the point that its a chore to get it down. i ordered some unflavored powder that i plan to sprinkle onto everything...not sure if that's unrealistic but its a good way to help meet my daily protein requirements in addition to what i already get in. I'm appreciating mushy foods...so much better than liquids - have found some really tasty recipes that I'm so excited to try. Has anyone experienced a change in flavors since surgery? Everything is just too sweet! i have to water things down just to tolerate them. Things I used to love, like yogurt, are nearly intolerable!
