What was your experience with Dr. Um? I know he's one surgeon of four at this facility. He'll be assisted by one of his partners. How did your surgery go with him?

Attention Ladies Who Took Birth Control Pills
fancytiddy replied to new_me_2013's topic in The Gals' Room
Why are they not as effective? My surgeon said after surgery we are SUPER fertile due to hormone changes and weight loss. All birth control has the same effectiveness of 99.9% if taken correctly. So to me, it's personal preference. -
Are you comfortable talking about it?
fancytiddy replied to Defying Gravity's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I commend all of you who can openly talk about it . My husband and best friend who has had WLS are the only ones who know. My mom thinks I'm having my gall bladder removed. I am not ashamed but also don't want to deal with *haters*. People always have an opinion and think it's just as easy as diet and exercise. They don't understand I am sick and tired of being sick and tired...and I have NEVER been thin. I was born 9 pounds...weighed 300lbs in 8th grade and it only got worse after kids. One day, I hope to openly tell everyone...but if not...then That will be okay too. -
That's fantastic! Congrats! How long did it take ? I agree with ^^^ pictures please!!!!

Attention Ladies Who Took Birth Control Pills

I am told to stop taking BC two weeks before and 6-8 weeks after due to it increasing the risk of developing clots. My surgeon automatically gives heparin while in the hospital to decrease the chances. I have been on BC for many years to regulate and it is always given a bad rap about weight gain- if you read the fine print it says weight gain OR loss....AND is minimal, less than 5 pounds. So I wouldn't worry about it affecting your weight loss. My concern isn't it affecting my weight loss but more so my weight loss affecting my periods. Rapid weight gain or loss can drastically change menstrations....so to me.... The benefits outweigh the risks. So I will continue taking my BC when cleared to do so. -

Do NOT use a Neti pot for a sinus infection. It says on the package to NOT use it if you suspect one. -
I've had a c section and was up and walking within hours. For those that have been sleeved AND had a c section, would you say the pain was comparable? Better? Worse?

Please Help me. Food addiction. Binge eater. I probably should not have had surgery
fancytiddy replied to toocheeky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job, looking for support! You can do this!!! My surgeon said no carbonated beverages- EVER- as it will stretch out your pouch. Binge eating is a psychological condition such as bulimia or anorexia. I would recommend talking to a therapist to figure out the 'why', you binge eat. If you don't find the root of the problem you risk always falling off the wagon. Good luck!!! -
