Anyone had issues with gout?
tolbin replied to Believe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drank concentrated cherry juice and cut back on my protein intake for a few days. It cleared after about 4 days. Good luck! -

Walking is the best thing you can do. You can also try stretching.

my life is miserable since the sleeve

I am 6 weeks out with no problems at all. I feel very lucky. My wife got her sleeve about 15 months ago. Her first year was a nightmare.. stricture, gall stones... allergic to whey protein, could not eat animal protein. She ended up having to go vegan for almost the whole first year. Now, her stomach is completely healed. she can eat almost anything and could not be happier. There is a light at the end of the tunnel..sometimes you just need to crawl through a world of crap to get there. Hang in there! -

Post op question about coffee

I am 1 month out this week and started coffee.. Started with a half caf and moved onto morning blends..no issues for me. It is so nice to be coherent in the morning again. -
I would stay away from ice cream. It is the magic bullet against the sleeve..it goes down easy and is loaded with carbs and fat.

Surgery Date: 8/27 Surgery Weight: 319 Current Weight: 286 33 Pounds in 4 weeks! I could not be happier! I see so many people, including my wife, who had troubles. I am very thankful I have not had anything outside of a bad gout attack. Drank my first coffee today..no issues.. Now the fun with solid food begins!

Muscle Milk was a fail for me as well. Each time I drank one was followed by a sprint to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea. My favorite protein drinks are Premiere protein- available at Costco, Lean shakes, and Pure Potein shake available at GNC. I also blend some with Precision Engineered Whey Protein vanilla-Vitamin World - blend that with unsweetened almond milk, a little peanut butter, ice..it's tasty!

I was sleeved on 8/27. My wife had the same procedure last year. She had a horrible experience her first six months. It turned out she was allergic to whey protein, could not digest meat and had to go vegan for about 10 months. Now she is able to eat almost anything. I feel pretty lucky..outside of a very bad gout attack in my first week, I am sailing through. I can get my protein in, started mushies for dinner last night and I am down about 25 pounds. I have not been exercising..so I need to get that going.

I have not experienced this, but my wife, who was also sleeved did. Turned out to be acid reflux. She ended up going on a PPI and a vegan diet to correct it. After about a year, she could eat almost anything.
