I had the surgery on Sept. 23rd. I was truly expecting that my fibromyalgia would make my pain skyrocket. Quite the opposite happened! Most of my post-op pain was from gas (which I felt as pain in my left shoulder.), and not even my stomach! I have not had any fibromyalgia issues yet, and I will be two weeks post-op on Monday. (Oh, and I have only taken a pain killer twice, both for ligaments in my groin area that I hurt walking this last week!)

Finally got a surgery date! But how was your liquid diet
Catalina replied to RedyRed's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on getting your surgery date! Hooray! My surgery is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 23rd, so I am on the third day of my five day liquid diet. Day one and two were rough, but day 3 has honestly been a breeze. I don't feel hungry. I did change things around a bit today. Today I began drinking my Protein shake when I got up. I didn't wait until my normal Breakfast time. I think that helped a lot! My pre-op is clear, sf liquids and 3 Protein shakes a day. I am hoping that days 4 and 5 are like today! Best of luck to you! -
September 23rd sleevers!
Catalina replied to S.Harper's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello! I am September 23rd, as well. I have a 5 day clear, sf liquid pre-op, so this is my third day of that. I had a hard time with it yesterday, but today has been pretty smooth, at least so far. Nerves? Oh yes, but I keep reminding myself that I am at a huge danger just being my weight now. This surgery is life changing, so I am trying to look at it like the blessing it is. A year from now, we are ALL going to be in a much better, much safer place, physically! Good luck to all and CONGRATULATIONS! We are taking the first step on an amazing journey! Do previous weight loss attempts HAVE to be documented?
Catalina replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have BCBS of Minnesota, and I did have to go through six months of documented weight loss to be approved for the surgery. I am now approved, and honestly, I didn't like the wait at first, but soon came to not mind it nearly as much. I met with the dietician, she gave me a diet specific to me, and it worked very well. I lost quite a bit, and in the process I learned a lot about the way I will be eating in the future. By time I reached six months, I actually said, "I can't believe it has been six months!" (I know, it shocked me, too! I never thought I would feel that way.) Good luck to you, whatever your insurance decides is necessary. -
I haven't had my surgery yet, but the way it was explained to me is that cold liquids cause contraction, so it can be more painful. Warm liquids cause you to expand a small amount, therefor they are more comfortable to drink. I am not looking forward to that because icy cold Water is the only way I like it. However, you might want to try room temp. water for a while, Sarah.

Have a cold and tomorrow is surgery!
Catalina replied to KCSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cross your fingers that you wake up without it in the morning! My orignal surgery date was 8-23, and I started to feel a tickle in my throat on the way home from my pre-op stuff at the hospital, two days before surgery. By Thursday though, it was obvious that I was too sick. I had to reschedule my surgery. They did tell me though that they will usually do surgery on someone with a cold/allergies, as long as there is no fever and it hasn't lodged in your chest. Good luck to you tomorrow.
